This is fabulous!!!! Go Tribe!!! The spring show he talked about is a blast. I have to admit I haven't been in many moons, what with Williamsburg and all, but I'm so glad to see this piece.
Wow! What a treat! A close up interview of the coolest of the cool blind professor Steve Cannon plus the grand tour of Ross's show as Cannon's Tribes Gallery. You are now St. James Kalm. Thanks for spreading the word and the images.
I have been a big fan of Robin Ross's paintings for years. While the video give a good impression of the work, video does not do them justice. You really need to see these paintings and experience them up close and personal.
Great production and coverage of the East Village, James, Steve Cannon is one jazzy fellow, are there any places left from the eighties in alphabet city?
Unfortunately, between the art bust, AIDS, and real estate developers, the whole scene vanished. There are still some of the galleriests left, but they've all moved on to other neighborhoods
Robin Ross' work reminds me a little of the paintings of Mary Frank. Surbone's paintings are brave. Nice work. Interesting alternative space. Thanks for sharing that one.
Awesome interview James. Next time I'm in NYC I know of a great place to go.
