  • so, if the Spirit guides us into all truth, then can we determine that these people these calvinists are not born again. i have heard people say that they think benny hinn and the like are Spirit filled too

  • @woodowl003 That's an interesting question. Though I believe that the Spirit guides us all to the truth, and there is clearly only one truth, all of us (Calvinists included) who are born again resist some truths that the Spirit is trying to teach simply because we have been indoctrinated to believe certain things contrary to what the Spirit is trying to teach.

  • thank you so much brother, this series is eye opening (I never once considered calvinist philosophy might be true for obivious reasons) and I feel the Spirit is bearing witness with my spirit that your words are true, for they are not your words but his

  • Lou, great job, your words are as the clear cool waters in a flowing mountain brook:

Pro 18:4 The words of a man's mouth are as deep waters, and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook.

  • And belief is clearly not a 'work', as God plainly says..

Romans 4:4 -- But to him that worketh NOT, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness

Does that guy out there need to be a scholar, and have volumes of men's writings to understand this? Does he need to know how to do interpretive gymnastics to grasp it's meaning?

Maybe, just maybe, he reads it like a child and takes God at His Word. Are we not all equal in the eyes of God?

  • I mean seriously, some guy out in the world in a dump of a country gets hold of a bible in his language has to know exegesis, eisegesis, monergism, synergism, Greek, Hebrew, arminianism, and calvinism? I think not.

  • Good stuff. Following doctrines named after a man whose name doesn't headline a book in the bible gives me chills.

Then the calvinists go to their Calvin books to refute. The philosophy flies, context is of no concern, and confusion sets. If there's confusion, I'm out of there and sticking with God's plain Word.

  • God tried to draw Cain, but Cain refused. After approving of Abels blood sacrifice (it pictures Christs blood and Abels faith in that future sacrifice) God rejected Cains offering because it had no blood. God then reasoned with and warned Cain to do right, offer blood. Cain understood God and still disobeyed. This proves God speaks to the unsaved, they understand Him and can reject His offer. Calvinism is wrong.

  • Whoops! No, Salvation is not based on foreknowledge. That would make God a respecter of persons. Salvation is offered to all who will believe or not believe. Sinners are responsible for their own actions before the truth presented. Check with Adam on this one.

  • You got it right, brother!

  • to YoungCalvinist: Since when is love, faith and humility works? If you are married, was it a work to love your wife? Besides, the Bible makes a definite distinction between faith and works in verses and passages such as Romans 3:28-31, Romans 4:3-4 and Galatians 3:16. But you wouldn't know that would you since you are busy reading The Potter's Freedom instead of the Bible?

  • The 'works of righteousness' are a commandment from Jesus Himself. This is a condition that Jesus states is evidence of those that love him. The works don't earn anything, but are an undeniable condition nonetheless. If you want to believe that works of the flesh and works of the Spirit are both rejected, the scripture plainly refutes this opinion. Bottom line, if one is not obeying Jesus teaching in Matt 5-7, that person is building there house (soul) on sand. Rejecting this truth is fatal.

  • Great job again, Lou.

  • Great job. A text without context is a pretext.
