With Mame32, you should be able to configure the controls doing the following:

Open Mame32 and click the gold gear/cog to bring up the different config options. Under the "Controllers" tab, enable "Mouse Input" and under the "Controller Mapping" tab, set Mouse Device to "Lightgun". The start the game up. The next part is a little bit trickier...

turn service mode on then reset and hold the service coin

(Cont.) After starting the game up, hit "Tab" on the keyboard and set up your controls. For "Golly! Ghost!", you need to only assign the "P1 Button 1" and the "Lightgun X/Y Analog" (no need to set the Dec/Inc options). After you set those and whatever you want as the coin/service/etc. buttons, hit Tab/Esc. to exit back to the game. GG needs to also be internally calibrated. Hold "9" on the keyboard and press F2 and follow the onscreen prompts. When ready, exit with F2.

@SorvahrSpahr what makes Golly Ghost very notable is that the background is actually a dollhouse which works as facade while the ghosts are from the game
