@pikatelaWEY You have your tech school... You'll bounce around alot during that..and you'll go through sere training and some parachuting if your on the spectre.. diff aircraft assignments will mean parachuting or not..its very stressful

@harleyboy00 From what I can tell its nearly impossible to get as a pipeline coming out of BMT, with the MH-53 out of service now its even harder. There are a lot of people who want this job, and not a whole lot of openings - and most of the openings are given to people cross-training from other jobs in the Air Force.

Only an idiot would go into a MOS or job in the military not knowing anything about it. Everyone is worried about dieing and if you think the men and women in the military are different your an idiot. I know I'm married to one of those men.

@Marynicole830 well first let me say that i respect you and your husband, and i get what your trying to tell me... but if your going to be constantly worried about dieing then how can you have a clear head and focus on the task at hand. if you loose that focus it could mean your buddies next to you might not get to go home because you fucked up.. reply if you want to but i gave my two cents and that's all i have to say on the matter

I wouldn't be worried about it all the time. I just want to know so I can narrow down what I want to do. It's not THE deciding factor, but it would be nice to know how high the chance is to be shot down.

@Marynicole830 In iraq agaisnt insurgents its extremely impossible to get shut down because they dont have any Anti Air artillery, but in a future war agaisnt a militarry you can get shot down by Fighters, AA, Heat Seaking missiles, enemy choppers, pilot error, etc, agaisnt a real military a chopper crew rolls the dice, life or death is a 50/50

@cman904xFLAX they do have stinger but its doesnt seem like many cuz alot of their weapon caches were found by us troops and destroyed, but yes to what you and shinoby1000 said, its dangerous and if you go into it you shouldnt be afraid of dieying. theres a video on youtube called ( Seven died today ) a marine sea knight got shut down by taliban, doesnt matter how much armor this choppers have if an rpg or stingers hit them in the rottors they are gonna go down for sure.

damn guys this is an awesome video myself i am an aerial gunner apprentice in the USAF and it is the best job in the air force believe me to sit and watch the insurgents run while you can just see your rounds catch up to them then just put holes all in them its awesome cool video by the way thanks for supporting the aerial gunners not to many people care about us anymore unless they are in really deep shit.

@iXYourNameHereXi Hey well actually you do get to pick your career, the jobs right now on the Air Force are really spotty cuz there really just needing the ground forces, but You have to pick like 5 jobs and then you tell them your top priority. They do need Aerial gunners but not as much as there special ops program. I actually changed my mos to SERE Specialist just recently so I leave June 21. I read up on it and it's also a really cool one. But I can't wait to leave and message back with ?'s.

@JAM8132 No idea about your first question but as to the second I believe that before u finish tech school u will fill out a "dream sheet" where you list your top five choices of assignment (no guarantees at all but it lets you have a little bit of input), for this air force specialty possible assignments are:

Hurlburt AFB, FL - AC130 & MH53

Kadena AB, Okinawa, Japan - HH60

Keflavik NS, Iceland -HH60

Mildenhall RAF, England -- MH53

Moody AFB, GE - HH60

Nellis AFB, NV - HH60
