  • THANK YOU for the memories...GREAT VID!

  • Great vid.

  • @bubblejomay ~ Connie Kallita now campaigns 2 top fuel cars and 1 funny car. Check out the NHRA website ~ his nephew (Scott Kalitta) drives one of the fuelers. Connie's son (Scott) was killed last year driving the funny car but Connie continues to race. I was at the 1967 Winternationals when Kalitta won Top Fuel with his SOHC "cammer" Ford. I was also at the 1971 Winternations when Pete Robinson was killed trying to qualify his SOHC top fuel car.

  • At 1:04 of this video shows a car that really impressed me 40 years ago at a track in Crofton Maryland where Ohio George punished a field of 31 of the top gasser and won the meet. He had the only Ford powered car in the event. It was a night to remember. Sept., 1970

  • @bubblejomay i personally know gearge i live in dayton ohio right by his speed shop

  • What happened to Conrad "Connie" Kallita? During the sixties and seventies he had a dragster called the "Bounty Hunter" which also had the legendary Ford SOHC motor in it.

  • Also check out the motor in the dragster, the legend

  • This video shows a clip on Pete Robinson. I wonder how many of you know that the dragster he is kneeling beside is the first dragster ever to make a 200 mph pass down the quarter mile. Although he did not get the record he was the first to go 200 mph in a dragster. Oh many would say Don Garlits was the first because the has the record, wrong, check the facts.

  • A great video ! Love the 427 SOHC cars.

  • Sweet.. Thanks!

    Les

  • Some very cool pics. Lotsa memories. Good to see the future of drag racing is in good hands!

  • This was great! It brought back great times at the strip . I spent the 60s at Sunshine Dragstrip in St. Perersburg Florida . Thank you..........!

  • SOHC motors all, that's when they dominated.

  • Yea....but it left out probably the most important....Where's Billy Lawton?

Tasca Ford... E P. Rhode Island

He just left us...Bob Tasca Sr

Bill Lawton passed a few years back (Lawton Movers...Cranston, R.I.)

I believe Jim Heally is still here with us..

    Warwick

  • Nice video! I had the good fortune to see many of these cars in action. Loved the SOHC cars!!
