  • Bloody long innit!!

  • PAUL SIMONON BEST BASS PLAYER EVER!!!

  • @vagoperezoso Let's keep our head about us vago. He was a good bass player in an outstanding band.

  • @sitonmyshamrock1 Yeah the best in the world. Punk, reggae, funk, rap, rockabilly, he could play anything. Definitely the best bass player in music's history

  • @vagoperezoso lol no. he's good, not the best.

  • @danielseanjoe how could be BETTER than him? nobody can play so many genres as him

  • @vagoperezoso Les Claypool, Flea, John Entwistle, John Paul Jones, Geddy Lee. Perhaps you've heard of them.

  • @vagoperezoso This bassline was written by Norman Watt-Roy of the Blockheads.

  • RIP JOE GREAT MAN

  • R.I.P. JO

  • do you nkow the name of a hip hop song that cover the beat and the bass of this?

  • I love my dad more than the world!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I can't remember which of the two...but magnificent seven or radio clash...is the first hip hop song broadcast by a radio (not the first but the first broadcast)...

  • give me honda give me sony so cheap and real phoney, great lyric slagging of their record company

  • "Karlo Marx and Friederich Engels / went to the check-up at the 7-11 / Marx was skint but he had sense / Engels lent him the necessary pence"

  • Always makes me think of this hilarious boxing fight between Scarlet Johannson and Robert Downey Jr. in IronMan 2

  • powerful

  • this bassline was actually not written by the clash's bassist paul simmonon, but instead by the blockhead's bass player, norman watt-roy...

  • ''Whether it's jazz or punk or anything else, you have to fight against the purists who

want to narrow the definition. That's what kills music because it stifles it to death.'' - Joe Strummer

  • the sound the music for ever good.

  • is these a part from joe strummer the future is unwritten film ?

  • 1:10 Flula Borg?

  • This sounds like the Red Hot Chilli peppers only 10 years earlier.

  • @RebelThoughts ..and without slapbass and guitarsolo wank and kiedis's kind of annoying voice. Actually I think I like pretty much with the RHCP, if I'd be honest.

  • @RebelThoughts That comment is a slap in the face to Clash fans worldwide. Red Hot Chilli Peppers are not even on a level close with the Clash.

  • @60SecondAssassin1 I'm just saying that this clearly influenced the chilli peppers.

  • @RebelThoughts fuck me blind that ain't true

  • heard this on the radio today and shat my pants and blew my load. Caused a seven car pileup. Stayed in my overturned truck in a pool of my own feces till the song was over.

  • CHEESBOIGA!!

  • Funk.... punk? The Clash!

  • The reason this "punk sounds so funky" is that the Clash were actual musicians. When they thrashed on their guitars they were playing chords. If you were to delve a little deeper into their catalog you would find a lot of things that surprise you. Their influences were many and varied. One of the benefits of being a middle aged guy is that I got to see them live twice. RIP Joe. You are missed.

  • @FlaEd1 Meaningful music!

  • Is that guy whacking it at 1:20?

  • stupenda..JOE R.I.P <3

  • @thenewfella1994

Then, dump the Queen for Indeep's Last night a DJ saved my life, it's almost the same notes but tighter IMHO.

BTW, I'd choose Bandolero's Paris Latino bassline over all the ones you mentioned. And I'm only half trolling :D

  • Wicked sound.

  • @thenewfella1994 Fool's gold i love this song :)

  • Where on earth is this video clip from?

  • @Arachon I think this is a compilation of Joe's artwork which can be seen in "The Future is Unwritten" documentary

  • Iron Man 2 had a great soundtrack.

  • is this joe's "artwork"? looks like his doodles.

  • Great song and bassline but it was actually Norman Watt-Roy (from the Blockheads) on bass for this session...

  • Some of the best bass lines to be heard...EVER !!! I was turned on to The Clash when I was 10 & 11. This is one of my faves by them. No one like them !!

  • very good ,thanks

  • Yup....

  • wow that really is some solid bass :D

  • makes me wanna dance..:P

  • So my copy of the song is off the Singles. The last verse (with Socrates, Plato, etc) is cut off. The song is about 3:36 and dies after What have we got? Anyone wanna explain why this is cut off?

  • So much new Rock, R&B, whatever..., just cannot touch the way these guys blended so many unique genres of music into pure Punk Rock. Most of today's music (Hip Hop, R&B, Rock, Alternative Rock...(yeah, right, alternative to what???) is totally segregated and watered down. There is no true fusion of different types of music...sometimes, I truly feel that culturally and socially, music and the human race has taken 5 steps backward, instead of forward...Terribly sad.....

  • @wyogi06 Go check out the Gorillaz

  • Comment removed

  • @BBoldtThaMixer Oh, I know about the Gorillaz!! Love "their" (actually, it is the guy from Blur) music!! Thanks for looking out!!

  • @wyogi06 Yea, Damon Albarn. But it's not just him, Gorillaz are a collection of many different musicians. And of course all the awesome art and videos by Jamie Hewlett.

  • @wyogi06 You said it my friend!

  • @wyogi06 your only going by what you know so don't be so sweeping in your statements. But of course this is great and yes probbly better than anything out there right now, but please don't follow the general rule that 'it's not like it use to be' ....because things aren't like they use to be

  • @wyogi06 couldn't have said it better myself, Cheers!

  • This song is unbelievable!! Today's music cannot touch it. True Punk Rock!! Perfectly blends rock and funk!!!

  • i was really surprised when they put this into Iron Man 2. while it was playing, that was all i was listening to til it faded out. wasnt paying attention to the characters of the movie lol.

  • Bass is by Norman Watt Roy, who wrote the tune... uncredited by The Clash...so much for working class integrity!
