The reason this "punk sounds so funky" is that the Clash were actual musicians. When they thrashed on their guitars they were playing chords. If you were to delve a little deeper into their catalog you would find a lot of things that surprise you. Their influences were many and varied. One of the benefits of being a middle aged guy is that I got to see them live twice. RIP Joe. You are missed.

Most of today's music (Hip Hop, R&B, Rock, Alternative Rock...(yeah, right, alternative to what???) is totally segregated and watered down. There is no true fusion of different types of music...sometimes, I truly feel that culturally and socially, music and the human race has taken 5 steps backward, instead of forward...Terribly sad.....
