  • 7 seconds isnt that bad for a ford sedan from that time period. most fords from then were slugs, not including the lightning

  • my phone clocked it at 6.54, haha

  • I ran a 1994 SHO with my 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix 3.8L. We stayed neck to neck thought that was good for a car 6 years older than mine and about 50,000 more miles. These cars are badass in my book.

  • 7 seconds, not bad

  • please tell me where you got your speedometer and rpm stencils

  • Nice run. A lot of people are giving this car shit about it not being a "performance" car, which has some truth to it, but then again, there is a difference between "performance" and "high-performance". I drive an '01 Cadillac Seville that hits 60 in 6.6 seconds, and hits 90 in 13 seconds, and that's coming from a 2 ton, FWD, automatic luxury sedan.

  • @Halogen360 not the same car lol as a "SHO" lol

  • forgive me,i know very little about this car,but love the yamaha V6.I didn't know they made an auto taurus sho? what year is it?u got any mods?whats an ATX?

  • yea, they had the option for the auto or man from 92-95 (2nd gen) then the 3rd gen you only had auto

  • What mods have you done. My ATX shifts into second at 6500 yours seems to shift right at the redline. Do you have a Tweecer?

  • Not familiar with a "tweecer" anyways. Car has never been on a dyno. This run was done on a backroad away from traffic to not be a hazard. Scroll to "view all comments" at the bottom - been a while since I have been here. People need to raise their awareness towards other humans and not get so offensive/defensive about a car video. This planet is really small and the hand you stab may reach out to save you someday, best make sure the face is smiling. =]

  • You need help. No offense.

  • The stick shifts must of been faster. I didn't realize ford put automatics in a "performance" car. I can't enjoy a fast car with a chick-shift.

  • in the beginning your see a shadow com over the steering wheel. if thats not outside, mobile, i dont know what is.

  • thwak your a fucking douche bag and you just mad because that sho would blow the doors off of anything you own. Bitch =]

  • This would be fake if it was a Taurus GL maybe, but this is an SHO. Plus the shaking camera begs to differ.

  • How is it hard to believe that a modded ATX can run a high 6 second 0-60? And if the camera jolts like that with someone holding it, that person must be having a seizure. Why a fellow SHO owner would even question this car's validity is very disappointing.

  • Just Show Me,It doesn't matter what somebody claims,I WANT PROOF.'

  • My SHO would rock this,anyway-BUT I STILL WANT PROOF.

  • well, actually, at the beginning when it started gaining speed, you can see the shadow probably from a tree on the top of the steering wheel... thats the only proof i saw tho

  • If his speedo is accurate 0-60 takes 7 seconds, a little slower than where the manual tested in '89. Probably real. If it's fake, it doesn't do the car's legend any favors.

  • nice

  • A friend had a '94, forest green, stock bose sterio, very nice car. Tan leather, um, sun roof I think, anyways it had a suspension(huge help on these cars) and brakes too, dunno what kind, but it was all expensive...? Um, had a powerdyne supercharger, top end work, like, the heads on up, ported/polished, borla exhaust, needed a clutch right away lol, dunno what he used. Anyways the car was a dog off the line, just heavy & fwd, but once it got goin it was nasty. Every gear u were glued to ur seat

  • i have a 94 SHO with a couple little mods. my broke 18 year old ass cant afford too much. but it has 120000 miles and it runs great... its a badass car.

  • things fast as hell, i have an 01 ses

  • wait i own an sho and its over 130,000 miles and i know people who have them over 300k so that dudes down right wrong

  • damn my SHO in first gear goes to 60

  • hey iz that the 3.2 or 3.4 or what engine.. and where do u find perofmrnace parts??

  • 3.2 auto. E-bay.

  • Was that a manual or an automatic?

  • Automatic.

  • auto

  • @mazakman1 congrats, you know how to launch a car... unlike alot of people who think its badass to spin the shit out of your tires.

  • Sorry but the 3100 chevy's weren't and aren't a match for an SHO. Hell the 3400 DOHC wasn't much either granted part of that is it got stuck with an auto. But its still slower. Nice but slower.

  • Actually, the 3.4 was offered with a Getrag 284 5-speed manual as an option from '91-'93.

  • actually the 3.4 was never offered with a manual and only came in the 3rd generation body style. The 3.0 SHO was the only one to be offered with a manual as the 3.2 model was automatic only.

  • I was referring to Lumina Z34s.

  • Oh, and I made a mistake regarding that statement. The LQ1 was available with a manual, not the 3400.

  • My car is a '92 3.1 V6. Yes, it's sluggish, yes, it's low-horsepower, but it's quicker than you think and I was observing that your car wasn't THAT much quicker to 60 than mine. Even if my Lumina is slower, Lumina's are still awesome cars. Go W-body!

  • I currently have a buick century 3.1L, and it does have some good pep, 185-190HP out of it, but it won't get a SHO. with 0-60 times your lookin at maybe 8 or 8.5 secs, not 6.5 or 7 like a SHO. The automatic doesn't help it any.

  • Is your 3.1 an LHO engine or a 3100? Either way, neither one of them was ever rated for 185-190 horsepower, unless you've done mods. The LHO is factory rated for 140 horsepower, while the 3100 is factory rated for 160 horsepower. But yeah, my best 0-60 in my Lumina was about 8.8 seconds.

  • He DOES sorta have a point. My brother's Z26 was quicker off the line than my SHO, but in the end he still ate dust. Barely. I can't wait for that new engine!!!! THEN I'll race him again!!!!!!!!!!! (after my new crank seals' 2000 mile break-in period)

  • Yeah, I raced my friend's 2001 V6 Mustang. His car is slow (it IS a V6 though). I kept exactly even with him until 40 mph, where he slowly began to pull ahead of me. So, my car held him off the line.

  • really i killed a v6 stang with my v8 SHO

  • @itsmetoo3 i demolished a 3.8 pony with my 3.2 acura tl 2002 : )

  • This car is only slighter faster than my Lumina. And if I actually had a performance Lumina, I'd eat this car. But still, looks like a good car.

  • Bull Shit the Sho was a perfomance built Yamaha engine your slug of a Lumina came with a useless 3.1 if its an later model. like comeing to a gun fight with a knife.

  • Since when does a Yamaha engine last only 120,000 miles? Try 300,000+ with proper maintenance, 200,000+ with shoddy maintenance and daily redline abuse. You can't kill these engines if you try. As for the LTZ, it tops out at 109 mph. It is quick off the line (7.5s 0-60) but has NO top end whatsoever. An SHO is just starting to get happy at those speeds.

  • Haha, true, the SHO is indded an AMERICAN car, but you had an EPIC FAIL saying that the YAMAHA engine will die after 120,000? I just went over 200,000Miles on my '89 SHO.

  • @rockerdude29 my sho has 150 thousand and it was raced. and it has no problems. and yeah i do like responding to 2 year old comments

  • what year is that Taurus ?

  • 1994...that's the first thing he says in the video -_-

  • oops :p

  • damn! this beast gets up and moves :D

  • Are you high? They were only 5 speeds until 1993. They even put a 3.2 liter engine in the autos to compensate a bit. The 3.0 manuals were still quicker. It is cars like the new charger that make me sick...all automatics?? Come on!

  • Come on!!!haven't u ever heard of a torque converter

  • Of course I have! All power robbing ATX's have them.....

  • harely are you stupid thats all they offered on the sho in the first 5 years lol moron 5 speed v6 yamaha get your facts str8

  • go say that to the ford company

  • my mk viii would eat that car.

  • YEA EAT YOUR MOM!

  • haha look at this guy fordman... hes 14 years old... No shit look at his profile. he doesent even know how to drive. and if he did he wouldent be able to reach the pedals.

  • I know what you mean. I had one for a month then wrecked it. I plan on getting a new one, but until then I have a SHO. Can't beat that 4.6 DOHC!

  • but u guys im not ragging in the sho at all. its a mean mother. i used to have a taurus. the DOHC and it rocked

  • Yeah, the SHO is a great car, but the DOHC I was referring to was the 4.6L InTech V8 under the hood of the Mark VIII. 290 hp and 280 lb-ft.

  • hells yea and with a few simple mods my mark is at about 310 hp

  • Chip? Headers are relatively cheap and give good results. The only thing I hated about my mark was the lag between shifts. I didn't seem to be maximizing the power of the engine.

  • nope. max flow K&N air filter. two flowmasters. new IACV idol air control valve. and a bad ass horn.

  • lol bad ass horn. From a semi?

  • hell yea. its eletric so all i had to do was cut the power from the old horn and connect it to the semi horn. ill put a vid up soon on how to do that. and how to avoid paying 1200 dollars plus on new HID lights. and convert to H4's

  • I can't believe you guys are actually comparing a $2,000 car to $10,000+ cars lol. It's not a race car or a super "sexy" looking luxury car. It is NOT a new car - it doesn't look like a new car, get over it. If you are looking for a new car, go to a dealer and buy a new car and and STFU. I personally think it has a nice aggressive look to it. I think it would make for a very nice quick cheap daily driver. There is a 5 speed one for sale for $1,600.

  • C'mon people. No need to be rude to each other. This thing was manufactured in 1994. Half of you were probably 5. Thanks for all the comments though.

  • Considering that it's only rivals were the BMW 3 and 5 series, and the mercedes (of the time) C & E Class it was pretty impressive. And it cost half as much and it didn't cost a fortune to insure and maintain.

  • comment below is a reply to johncarl0707

  • i hate the transmissions, but i like the cars

  • damn straight. Most unreliable tranny I ever had. But once it was straightened out, its been like a rock *knock on wood*

Still, its the toughest car I've ever owned. I got slammed into by a fire department cruiser and all I had was the bumper whacked up a case of whiplash.

  • yup fast as hell. I got a 95 atx sho that gets up to 50 out of 1st easy. Love these cars, especially when u hit 5 grand n hear it scream. Ford should bring back the sho model fo sho.

  • Not at all...The SHO in this video might keep up with my mom's SUV...The SHO is not only unatractive, but it is hideously slow and inneficient...Hitting 50 in first gear has nothing to do with speed, it has to do with gear ratios....Fortunately I have had the pleasure of raping several "well-modified" SHOs (twice with our family sedan)...

  • I'd like to see that video.

  • I will happily send you video links if you would like me to, though I am startled at your skepticism...The SHO is a high 15 second car if it's being driven by a capable driver...I have nothing against slow cars, there are plenty of them out there...What pisses me off about the SHO is that it is marketed (and has achieved somewhat of a cult-following) as a performance car...The SHO is nothing more than a family sedan, and a fairly slow one at that...

  • Oh "not at all... the SHO in this video might keep up with my mom's SUV" man shut the fuck up. u dont know shit. the 1st gen SHO's can run 0-60 in 6.6 seconds. and YES I dont care what u say, that IS FAST for a family sedan. so dont be trying to sell me some shit like only YOU have been blessed to own a faster family sedan that no one else knows of. u got such an ego thinkin u know it all. go drive ur fuckin scion.

  • Your comment was at once humorous and asinine...The funny thing is, I don't think that I have been blessed with any sort of special family sedan that happens to be so fast, it can outrun a Taurus SHO...Nothing special is required to outrun a SHO, and if you look at most SHO 1/4 mile times and 0-60 times, they are appallingly slow...Any "performance" car that runs 15s in the 1/4 is a disgrace and a hoax...You clearly have no sense of speed...

  • I certainly don't drive a tC because I enjoy performance and the tC is very slow...It is a fact however, that as slow as the tC is, it is on par with the SHO, an embarrassment...While I cannot imagine myself driving a tC, I would certainly buy one sooner than a SHO...It is infinitely more attractive (which isn't saying much at all) and it delivers the same (lack of) performance with a much smaller engine without making the claim of "super high output"

  • okay you enjoy performance. then what car do u drive? it better be a mustang cobra or camaro ss or something similar. and the tC runs 0-60 in 7.8 thats anywhere between 1.2 and .5 sec slower than the SHO depending on year and tranny.

  • My point isn't that I have an unbelievably sick car or anything of that nature...I have a respectably quick car that runs mid 13s and has a decent pull on the street...Check out my profile if you want to see me running my brothers bolt-on Mustang GT...My point is, with a mid 13 second car, I would never dream of bragging about the crazy acceleration and speed of my car...Yeah it's fairly quick, but its nothing near animal...

  • I don't care that the SHO is a slow car in and of itself...What bothers me is that it claims "super high output" and people go on about it like it's a milestone in automotive engineering and some sort of crazy sleeper when it's performance numbers speak volumes about its lack of prowess...

  • The fact that Ford made a sedan that could travel to 60 in 6.6 seconds and have a top speed of 143 is quite amazing.

  • It's really not, considering that only mediocre power is required to achieve those numbers, especially when the 6.6 0-60 is extended to a 15s quarter mile...

  • yea, but in 89 when the SHO was introduced few sedans could match the SHO. I love my SHO. Pure Japanese muscle car. I have almost 200K on my SHO and can still beat most cars on the road.

  • The SHO is the ultimate sleeper car. I'm looking into picking up a cheap one. The older models of it look awesome.

  • I stomped on a TC a couple weeks ago. He was no problem at all. Check out my videos to see me beating a 4.0L Mustang. All I have is exhaust work and H-rated tires.

  • thing moves...

  • Is this one a automatic because I want to get a stick shift one but if I can't find one I settle with a automatic

  • They have Manuals Available

  • S.H.O. "Shut up, and Hold On." A truly awesome car.

  • S.H.O.: Slow and Hideously Obnoxious...I'm so tired of hearing people boast about the SHO...The SHO is remarkable only in it's slowness...Stock SHOs run in the 16s in the quarter mile!...That is unbelievably slow...Slower in fact than the 4-cylinder, 160hp Scion tC (keep in mind that the SHO is equipped with a V6 and well over 200 horsepower) which is an unbelievably slow car...

  • lol you're so ignorant, if a stock SHO is running into the 16s then somebody needs to stop sending their grandmother to the strip. There are many STOCK SHO's running into the 14s and even then the SHO doesnt really shine until after the 1/4 mile. Also no, a Scion tC is not faster than any SHO, please stop blowing smoke.

  • WOW. That car just earned my respect.

  • taurus nice cars aspecialy the SHO

  • Dude, 0 - 60 in just under 7 seconds? Thats actually pretty fast! How much horsepower does a SHO run?

  • the 3.0 has 220. this car is an auto. the autos had a 3.2, to make up for the power loss with an auto tranny.

  • wow.... do you have a SHO yourself?

  • I'd like to, but I'd get myself in trouble with one, so I bought a 4-wheeler instead. My brother-in-law had one, and it would scream. I was interested, and came to know a lot about them. You can get one relatively cheap, but you have to watch out, because they tear shit up in the front end such as motor mounts, and other things from putting all that power to the front wheels.

  • mmm.... lol, i think i would get in a bit of trouble with the law if i had one... i would like, floor it every chance i got =D

  • I have a '96 Ford Taurus GL Making 0-60 in about 9.45 seconds. Tauri are fun cars. They get discredited because kids cant bolt anything on to them.. so they get lazy and call em crap. Its where real enginuity comes into play, and you really gotta know your stuff if you want to make em faster. (granted that.. the SHO whoops a GL's ass about 3-4 seconds more.)

  • Sorry buddy, but a 0-60 in the mid 9s is hideously, hideously slow....You clearly know nothing about car performance if you consider that lack of accerlation anything even midly resembling speed...In fact, that 0-60 will allow you to ever so slightly beat a 100hp Scion xA...The SHO's 0-60 time of 7.5 seconds is also terrible, considering that the 160hp Scion tC (a very slow car) runs right with the SHO in the quarter and 0-60

  • 9's in a sedan is better than 13's in a compact. IMO

I'm just makin a point saying that Tauri are fun cars, the non SHO series were never meant for speed. Most kids give up on them because putting on a turbo requires the use of their brain and REAL fabrication skills. There are no bolt on ANYTHINGS for the Taurus, everything you gotta make yourself.(cept for an underdrive pulley)

  • The problem with that logic is that the Scion xA with its 1.5 litre 4-cylinder is good for a 0-60 right around that of your Taurus...I recently witnessed another youtube video from a SHO owner who "highly modified" his SHO with cams, upgraded intake manifold, 3.2L MTX swap, catless y-pipe, exhaust, lightweight flywheel/clutch combo...His "highly modified" SHO made an estimated 250 hp at the CRANK...Horrible...And he ran high 15s at the track...Unbelievably horrible...

  • i doubt it only made 250HP. and if so, it most likely made more torque which is more important since torque is torsional force. since thats what an engine does, it turns the crank over. HP is just the result of an equation involving x amount of torque at a certain rpm. honda's and shit get a 200+ HP rating. they have no torque at all, they just redline higher, and that acompanied with a low amount of torque can give u moderate HP. Its important dont get me wrong, but its mainly a flashy number

  • Actually the owner of the SHO claims around 250 hp at the engine, and your claims about horsepower are false...While both horsepower and torque are important, they both serve different purposes...Torque is the force that will launch a car forward but without solid horsepower numbers the car may jump forward, but it will go nowhere after it gets moving...

  • Ever ask yourself why you are so obsessed with dissing the SHO? Get spanked by one in the past? Invest your energy on the positive side and you'll get more out of life.

  • It is a waste of time, I'll admit that...I justify it by being severely outraged at the performance posturing of the SHO...

  • Have you nothing better to do than bitch and moan about how people like the SHO? 220hp from a 3.0 liter N/A engine is not shabby even by today's standards. Sure the tC may be faster, but it's got 15 years of technology and (more importantly) two less doors and a far smaller cargo area. A Camaro Z28 of the same year will run mid-low 15's as well. Get off your soap box.

  • quick but my 89 sho would walk all over that.. infact 89 walks all over any year of sho's

  • Wow, what a fast car... You must have a death wish driving a ford past 100k miles. Their trannys go out every 70k miles or so.

  • nice. 7 sec 0-60.

  • Don't these cars rule? I love SHOS but I like the G3 better, 3.4 baby!

  • I love the SHO,but the electrical problems, ugh..

  • money pits

  • Why is your Low Coolant light on? Also, what in the world is going on with your airbag?

  • Electronics tampering. Sensor bypass.

  • Hey for all of you who actually know about these cars. I won a Mercury Sable GS with a 3.0L Vulcan engine. Is there any way that can replace that Vulcan engine with a SHO engine? Man that engine sounds sweet.

  • it's possible , I actuall own a 93 sho but my suggesion would be to sell the mercury and buy the actual car , there is reinforcements done on the body and different fuel pump engine management different electrical if your car is auto you'll have to go in to auto sho parts , might be cheaper to just buy one

    ( btw I suggest the 5-speed)

  • worst news I heard today...What a shame.

  • well for the cost u could buy an SHO i just bought a pefect condition loaded 99 sho for $2500...only downside is 144k miles

  • lol yeah thats dangerous with a ford. 144k miles, thats a pretty big downside... Im looking at a 98 with 75k for $4900. perfect

  • Yeah but its a 98...gen 3 = teh noes

  • its the latest gen for the sho...

  • jump on it...btw i hadnt had any problems yet...cept a oil sending unit....and a o2 censor...30 dollars total

  • The '99 SHO had an unusually small V8. A 3.4L.

  • oh the memories, I miss my SHOs, all 3 of them. Time for another.

  • Nice car. Amazing how a V6 of that time could have such a high (7000RPM) redline. Are the windows down? I bet that engine would sound downright mean with a moded dual exhaust.

  • nice, a guy that lives in the apartment i do has one in the parking lot, nice looking car =)

  • 1-60 in 5 sec

  • Thats awesome man. Wicked cars

  • I'm pretty sure thats the airbag light on the far right, in the middle is the low coolant light, i have two SHO's :)

  • This is crazy fast dang,... nobody could catch up to this one except a race car....

  • the gas light is above the fuel gauge its the picture of the pump

  • Holy crap...That thing sounds good and is quick.

  • Is that the "Check Engine Light" on?

  • I think it may be the gas light. His needle is down to about Empty! Hard to see though!

  • more than 50 in the 1st gear. 2nd gear at 7 rpm puts you close to 100. Why are the gears so long? is that a 4spd auto?

  • 5 speed auto, I got a 93 automatic SHO myself. Gotta love that variable intake yamaha motor!

  • His speedometer is horribly inaccurate, probably the result of removing the speedometer needle when installing those white-faced gauges. Under the factory programming with the stock gearing and factory-sized tires, a '93-'95 ATX SHO will shift from 1-2 under WOT at 42mph (around 6700 RPMs) and from 2-3 at 70mph (around 6000 RPMs). Sorry, but his ATX SHO is not as fast as he would have you believe. ;)

  • What is this a war? I thought it was for fun. Whoever said it was stock? P.S My speedometer is not inaccurate, but your prejudging of me and my abilities to install a gage face is. Where's your Hotrod videos? You probably have your mom drive you around. What a douchebag.

  • I never said your car was stock (I read the modification list you posted below before I said anything), and I apologize if my the tone of my original reply came across incorrectly. I was simply stating that your indicated speed cannot be considered accurate when you consider typical OEM Taurus speedometer quality issues and potential alterations in needle accuracy from gauge face modification.

Out of curiosity, what type of EEC tuning device are you using to account for your modifications?

  • Apology accepted. I'm sorry I called you a douchebag. Douchebags are very filthy, bloody, germ infested slopbags of female slopjuice that could have came from a 350 pound slimy fatbitch heffer with AIDS or herpes.

  • wow i hope you get aids, you're probably 375 stfu god damn moron!

  • Looks like someone got up on the wrong side of the rock. Who are you? Why would you hope I get aids? You are obviously a troubled soul who needs serious help. I wish you the best of luck in finding it. :) Have a nice day! P.S. I'm not a moron. A moron is defined as a person with a genetically determined mental age between 8 and 12. Like, say a rock dweller.

  • that car dont seem to run very strong even for a auto.

when i had my atx SHO it ran like a rape date, now its a 5 speed mtx the needle climbs fast

  • Well, it does have 130,000 on the clock. I need to lean it out a little. It's forced a little too much fuel. And it's a heavy car with a little 6 cyl. It's just a car to play around with. And this is just for fun anyways right? Besides, auto's run slower than manuals, it should be better after I port and polish the heads, and what is a rape date?

  • Think ya mean 'ran like a raped ape' man.

  • Just watching the speedometer climb is enough to make your hair stand up... My ex has one, a 93, black with tan leather, 5 speed, it was chipped when we got it... oh, how i loved to open that car up... he would let me drive it but most times i refused to because i had trouble keeping it doing less than 3 digits :) I didnt want to wreck it or get arrested, and here in pa, over 100 will get you in the slammer. Awesome car man!

  • so maybe 0-60 in like 7.3 real world?

  • sweet! i have a '93 and love it. what mods do you have on that

  • Eibach Springs, KYB struts, My own custom subframe connectors, modified MarkVIII fuel pump, 34 lb injectors, 73mm MAF, Jacobs wires, K&N filter, My own custom ram-air. Hence the O2 sensor alarms, and overfueled launch. I'm doing the next 60 k this winter and I'll do the heads on one of my C.N.C.'s. I'll post some vids after I do that and add the NOS. Thanks for the comment and good fun with yours!
