Yes taxing smoking is unfair to a degree, as it's a regressive tax. However, smokers burden the healthcare system which everyone else has to pay for, either financially or by being forced to wait longer for beds to become available.
For example in Australia, roughly $6billion was collected in cigarette tax in the last year, while smokers cost the economy $32billion in healthcare, lost productivity and other factors. So I hear your point, but I think you should factor this into your argument.

My father died of lung cancer, smoking is NOT COOL, so did a close friend of mine die of lung cancer, NOT COOL with him either...but we all choose our own poisons, as a dead friend of mine once pointed out, and she was right, she didn't die of lung cancer though, a teenage drunk killed her with his car.

Especially considering most weed that is smoked is unfiltered. i always felt the problem with smoking is that its a business now. its taxed too much, they put too much stupid shit in it and its marketed too well. my friend buys tobacco and rolls it himself, its alot healthier and he still get to enjoy his smokes.

I wan't to grow a beard, but I'm to lazy. Not only does it take a while, but after that, it's a whole new bunch a hair to keep clean and groomed :-/
I even understand the "being to lazy to smoke" part. Even though I am a smoker.
If I'm working at home for a week or so and I run out of cigarettes, I'll most likely be to lazy to go buy some, unless I have to go to the store anyway. And that could take days.

The problem with smoking is that here in argentina we have free healthcare , and people who smokes are doing something that is harmful for themselves and we have to pay the treatment for an ill that can be avoided, so its bad for them and for all of us. Saying that if smokers dissapear it would be bad because of less money from taxes is like saying that if people isnt fat anymore fast food branches are going to close.

But yeah I have noticed that they aren't quite as white as they were before I started, so yeah after a decade of smoking or something I reckon my teeth will look quite bad probably lol

@MosinDisciple we wouldn't do it if they put some bins somewhere....we get fined £80 here for dropping one...so yes we are getting 'taxed' (United Kingdom) ....but because of the "smoke free zones" the government doesnt put out those bins with the ashtrays on the top, we can't stick them in the bin because they will cause a fire...and there isn't even enough bins for litter....maybe the government should make biodegradable cigarette butts, problem solved.

@MosinDisciple we don't all actually do that. Some smokers carry ashcans and I just pinch mine shut halfway and put them back in the pack if I'm out. Most people in general litter, that's why you'll see paper cups and chocolate bar wrappers all over the place too. You see more cigarette butts because smokers smoke a lot of cigarettes when they're out as opposed to the average person consuming 1 chocolate bar, a soda and bag of chips. Look under a restaurant table, see all the gum.
