Just for the record, Bruce is a VERY talented dancer. Likely top 3 in Europe along with Walid and possibly Storm. But if you ever saw Bruce next to say, Poppin Pete, when pete's going all out you'd realize Pete gets down WAY, WAY harder. It's tough to see on video I realize that but it's the truth. Same goes for Salah. He looks like a kid playing around compared to the likes of Pete, Taco in his prime, Skeet when he was alive (RIP), and countless other OGs in the U.S.

Hey, Fu i really don't know if something like the "when this dancer or tht dancer is going all out" counts. What do u want to judge or compare: musicality, technique, stage-presence? I for myself think it's time to get over this: he or she will eat up this or that dancer. There are definetly just a handful of dancers who have this excellent technique, charisma and varies of styles. At some point i think it gets pointless... comparing the top 3 in europe with the top 10 in the us...

It matters with someone like Pete who has been doing it for so long most of the time he's bored and just messing around. It makes a HUGE difference. For years I thought Pete was just good but not all that until I caught a few glimpses of him shining. A lot of the OGs in the U.S are like that too. Most of the stuff you see is basically them messing around twiddling their thumbs, even their performance pieces.

The other thing is that because of the frame rate loss people can't tell who bangs and who doesn't. It just sorta all seems the same but when you take a dancer who bangs and put them next to someone who doesn't in real life it becomes super obvious.

It's a shame because a lot of people who mainly get exposed to street dance via the internet are missing out. I'm working with a gaggle of guys in Hawaii right now who have a ton of bad habits they picked up from the internet that they are trying to break.

Well i'm just try to point at and you just nailed what i try to say: you can't judge 1. just by videos 2. u saw a dancer just a few times. It's simple to ask how hard he really got down when u saw him (- he might held back as well)... same goes for Bruce. Imo it's just moments most of the dancer the adience sees.

What banging is and what not - i have to admit, i can't tell. That's allways related to personal prefences und communication. The way a dancer communicates through the dance with the audience. How many people don't understand liquid... how many times did we have this discussion?

Poppers, who were taught by the EBs will allways relate more to their style, because they understand what they're doing. Same goes for students of other dancers. It's all a question of communication.

When I say "banging" I'm talking specifically about someone who hits really hard. It's something that just doesn't show up well on video because of the frame rate loss inherent in most video technology.

But I have seen all the guys mentioned here live and once you do you see there's a big difference between guys like salah, who have a so-so vocab and hit, but lots of flashy tricks vs. someone who can really bang and just freestyle to the music using primarily their vocab. Thats my main point.

I actually feel bad for people who only get exposed to top street dancers via the internet because of that though.
