@reiheyhello That's actually a great question! They had to classify it as a racial hate crime, because there isn't a transgender division of hate crime legislation in Maryland. It's definitely better than letting the perpetrators off free and easy, but the punishment will be less severe. Hopefully this will spur some change!

Part 2. physically they " feel" they are not as equipped. I think this converstation should be about homophobia and should transgender people have a seperate restrooms in most establishments. My daughter came out as a lesbian about 5 years ago, and as a mother this is my greatest fear. I constantly worry about her because in our environment, LGBT community are still fighting for basic human rights. To just get married, etc. I am so glad they recorded this.

I do not understand why this is about race? I know it is a necessity, especially in this country to put everything on race. But, I think that is not the issue. Homophobia is the issue. The two ladies attack the transgender woman because she is transgender. Hate is not soley defined by race. Caucasion people are not the only people that can demostrate homophobia.
