I don't need to try because 100% of all semi auto firearms will malfunction with improper ammo.

Plus, steel cased ammo can swell inside the chamber and refuse to extract.

And if you take the safety off on an AK the FCG is exposed to sand. I don't need to try it.

there are many more closed bolt smgs. Just to name a few, UMP.45, Skorpion, Uzi, and i could go on. Now you also fail to accept that the AKS-74u shares many similar characteristics which make it very unique compared to other assault rifles, which is why it is also many times considered a SMG, despite its cartridge. I am not saying it is both but it is a fact that the 74u has very similar characteristics to SMGs which is why it is widely regarded as the gun on the border of both. Find a new point

@flare66966 I don't want to offend you but you're wrong, both 74 47 and the made up 74u (I can't find any real ak's with the "u") all of them use an assault rifle bullet, which is a hybrid between a rifle and submachine-gun NOT assault rifle and submachinegun. A common mistake it seems with people now as guns get more complex but however complex they may be and however similar, a rifle will never shoot a pistol round (it would become a carbine) and vice versa.

Shortened), which in terms of tactical deployment, bridges the gap between a submachine gun and an assault rifle... its not a mistake. The AKS-74u is real and is borderlines to both the SMG and the Assault Rifle category.

@flare66966 it is nothing to do AT ALL with a smg, it becomes an ASSAULT RIFLE CARBINE(short) NOT BORDERLINE SMG. just wanted to highlight that not yelling at you or anything. like i said beofre it is the cartridge that the gun utilizes that makes it a category, believe me I shoot real guns like many others and if you knew how silly it sounds for someone repeating something from wiki arguing with someone with experience, you'd stop, no offense. rifle = rifle cal, AR = AR cal, SMG = pistol cal.

@TheShadoKnite It has the effective range of an average smg, but shoots a small caliber ar round. it is borderline on both categories. similar to the p90, which shoots border line SMG rounds, but can be classified as a compact assault rifle. It's border line, not really either.

@flare66966 No it isn't, the FN P90 doesn't shoot anything near assault rifle cartridges, it shoots the 5.7 x 28 (and I'm not reading this off some source, I know by heart after my studies) which is a pistol cartridge completely, though it is an advancement in it's department, it is a fast high penetrating round that is not allowed to be bought buy civilians (or sold to/ bought from) as it can go through layers of anti stab and bullet proof vests/panels. the civil variant is underpowered.

@TheShadoKnite look... all i am saying is that the AKS-74u is, despite its cartridge, very close to a SMG due to its effective range, size, and weight. Weighing just a little more than the average SMG, with a bigger cartridge, but same muzzle velocity as, for example, the MP7. IN the same example, just about 10 cm bigger than the MP7, it is really really close to a SMG, but it also shares characteristics of an assault rifle, like its bigger brother the AKS-74, same cartridge, jest less velocity.

@flare66966 Which makes it an assault rifle, yes it shares SOME characteristics with SMGs but that doesn't make it one, the bolt carrier mechanism is that of the 47, 74, all other models, and shared with the latter Dragunov SVD sniper rifle, unlike SMGs with fixed firing pins + open bolts, the AKs have hammers and moving firing pins and closed bolt. SMG's range from micro subs (glock 18) to full size subs (mp5) and thus hard to compare. 74u has more velocity. size/weight don't matter.

I never said it was a SMG but it has many characteristics of a SMG, and not all SMGs fire from the open bolt position, example being the MP5. Now please, we are arguing slightly different points and your redundancy is making you sound ignorant in the since that you are putting things in black and white.
