  • Lots of toe pushing.  Beginners would get yelled at if they skated like that today.

  • Ah... the days before the double push. It looks so unnatural to see the foot set down directly below the body.

    Great helmets, too. I wouldn't wear one. *Grins*

  • I skated back in 91. We wore Giros in USA they were mandatory. Our skates were made from a plastic not like today...

  • Amazing how far the sport has come since then, both in terms of athletes and technology.

  • nice video of what inline speed skating was like prior to the double push. it is still a matter of speculation who invented the double push. i can tell you that while skating in central park (new york city) almost nightly in the summer of 1993 there was almost no sign of the double push. although, I should mention that there was a real fast skater called Remmy that had something resembling the double push, but at the time the markers to describe the double-push were non existent as well.

  • Je ziet dat er totaal geen valbeweging in zit, de techniek van het schaatsen en skeeleren is toch wel een hoop veranderd sinds de klapschaats!
