It's not the bulb tech it's how many PUR photo useful radiation it emitts in the plants spectrum, right, so every light throws different qualities of light, certain plants need more of certain types, CFL throws pretty good raw photons, second only to LED and T5 and T5HO Flourescents, and of course the LiFi Plasma, which throws the raw photons but doesn't have the light spectrum right, though that can be augmented with any of the above or later techs

@312eastwest Once they turn brown there is not too much you can do. The nutrients should be right. If you have given too much nutrients, you could flush the soil with clear water. The big leaves at the bottom often turn yellowish once the plant ages anyway.

they also grew to tall b.c u had the light up to high away from the plant during veg. when the light is further away the plants stretch out trying to reach the light. I suggest a bit of chain next time so u can adjust the high accordingly.

nice little tent. you should try packing it with clones, as soon as they root, grow for 15 days, then go straight into bloom. i did this with 8 clones in a small cabinet, and ended up with 10 oz,s dry. instead of leaning ur plants, try tying em down,or super-crop em. in a sm. setup use only indiaca,s. peace out, and stay high.

Plants looking good try a 125w blue/day light cfl or even better get a triple light fixture and make Ur own I use 2 x 300w grow cfl's then use 1 with 600w hps pull down 7oz dry per plant and if u really want a quick turn round try the auto flowering 8-10 from germination to harvest but u don't get as much as normal strains I belive peace happy smokin

The plants grew so tall because i can easily see that they are sativa's. Sativa's are hot climate strains (South America,Carribean etc.) next time you plant seeds use Indica seeds. They stay rather small but grow wide. They'll probably even give u more bud. Indica's are colder climate strains and they also can take a beating as far as abuse.Very strong species.

@mikeygeneral Yes, that could be right. I am not sure what strain it was. However with the Sativa / Indica debate, I think its important to take into consideration that the strains have different highs. The Indica rather pushes you into the pillow while the sativa is more active. So in general the sativa high is nicer. But, as you said, the sative plant is more difficult to cultivate.

I like the CFL bulbs, theyre cheap and take less out of your pocket to run then HPS and MH lights. I have to say though buddy your plant is burning. The only problem with your setup is it doesnt seem to have enough ventilation. I had originally thought that the black slip behind the plant housed a fan until you plainly stated you dont have ventilation. Your plant will probably only harvest about 10gm and cost about 600+ in time w that light.

I live on disability checks so I am very rational on my budget. This is a very good idea! The only thing I would add is some reflective wrapping paper for the walls, DO NOT USE FOIL! Although, very economical.

@airsoftpnlob The walls must be as bright as possible. White paint or Black / White Folie which you could buy from the grow supply or handystore with hydro department. ALuminium foil, as they say, could reflect the light to some hotspots which could damage the plant.

next time you should start bending your plants horizontally right as they start growing. once its got like 4-5 branches start bending that shit over and let it circle around. that way you end up with a nice even canopy

Hey guys, ive done my reading on different bulb types, but im still confused with what light to use for a 1 or 2 plant grow op, really nothing special, like this guys video a very small grow and inexpensive. so im looking for probably 100 watt grow light for the whole process as i probably wont be able to afford all these different lights for each stage... I live in the UK so if anyone knows a good store that sells lamps perfect for this let me know please :). cheers for reading

@myjobsux99 Absolutely, I read an article by Ed Rosenthal, he says that HPS lamps, produce more lumens per watt, than,CFLs, but it doesn't end there, as CFLs provide more light in the usable spectrum, so really theres not a lot to choose between them, except in the price of running them.

From what I have read It's better to use a red spectrum during flowering phase and a blue spectrum during the veggie phase. The plant reacts better to the different spectrums. I know 12/12 is vital but, it's known that you get better yields using the correct light during it's respective stage.

@craw0808 Yeah, I totally agree.In nature the Spring sunlight is rather blue and end of summer light more red. I think by usung those colors the harvest would be increased.

But I have only one red bulb available.
