And if you look still close, you'll notice that there are 24 moving pieces, which means that D-Ball is exactly the same as the center os a 4x4. Of course, you could scramble it as a 2x2 and them solve it back as a 2x2 too, but you will lose some of the properties of the puzzle. (the same that happens in a 4x4 if you scramble like a 2x2...)
