I am british and i acutally really enjoyed the first series of the american office it politely tipped its hat to its british predocessor but after that it went down hill for me and just turned in to your typical american sitcom which is fine if you like the kind of thing.

Personally, I prefer the UK Office, but it's not like the US Office is doing anyone any harm, its just another tv show put out there for people to either enjoy or not.

This show is hilarious - Britain has some of the best comedy. This show should really have continued for at least one more season - so disappointing.

As for America taking it over, I'm personally not really a fan of their version, it just seems to try harder or something seems to be missing. That's just my opinion though.

I'm sure there were a advertisement on TV in the UK which used a tune very similar to the Muppets one which was quite popular and seemed to stick in everyone's head. It was shown round about the same time this series of The Office was broadcast. Yep - search BN Commercial.

no muppets in the US one, but the whole first season material was essentialy copied from the UK version. IMO, Carrell is good, but he is no Gervais.

Unfortunately the show is done. As far as I know there are two seasons with six episodes a piece plus a two part Christmas special. But do yourself a favour, watch all of them, they're some of the funniest bits you'll see on television.

the only material copied from the UK version was episode 1. the rest was all new material. even the rest of season 1. they only copied the first episode to establish the characters since it IS a remake. but over the last few seasons they've definitely developed their own style/plotlines.
