will they have this on Wagon Train On Encore Westerns Channel Tomorrow. In Black & White. in the middle of the sixth season had Filmed At Universal City "Blinking Negatives" Logo with MCA Byline followed by ABC Logo in 62-63 then On The 64-65 Season will have The Universal City Zooming Globe Logo On wagon train in black & white. in 64-65.
the background is a dead ringer of the surface of the Formica dinette table my grandmother had!!....and how 'bout a shout-out to Esquivel for coming up with that music??
was this taken from sixth season Tales Of Wells Fargo 60 Minute Color Episodes.,First season episodes of The Virginian. In Color And Laramie In Color.
@GOOSEYGOOSE9 I'd say either "The Virginian" or "Laramie". The hour long "Tales of Wells Fargo" color episodes also had a byline that said "In association with JUGGERNAUT, INC."
I'm a big fan of anything retro. The music used to scare me, but I like it now. They should bring it back, even if it's only for one season. (Universal Television itself will be 50 years old in 2012.)
Whoa, wait a minute! "Laramie" started out in B&W, but in '62, NBC brought it to us in Living Color along with a revamped NBC Peacock ID. To this day, the '62 redux of the famous bird is nicknamed "The Laramie Peacock".
I think it's kind of odd/strange/cool that people care enough about these things to post them and comment on them. Hell, i thought I was the only one that got a kick out of certain closer logos from old shows...
This is actually a shortened of the original Revue jingle, which made its first appearance back in 1960. I heard it during an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents from the 1960-61 season.
Very accurate, too I might add. I remember the last season of "Leave It To Beaver" on ABC was in '62-'63. They used the B&W version of the sped-up Revue theme.
OK, here's a question about the Universal "blinking negatives." I also grew up watching Jack Benny, and his show was produced by Revue in association with his "J&M Productions". If I remember correctly, didn't Revue have a B&W version of the blinking negatives for his show?
It's called the "Sliding Negatives" for Revue. Universal Television's 1st logo is called "The Blinking Negatives". And if Jack Benny's show was in black & white, then Revue's logo would be in the same concept.
Here's a question for you and it came up to me hours ago. Now when you've seen "The Jack Benny Show" by Universal Television with the blinking negatives, what did it say on the co-producer's card? "A Universal Television-J&M Production" or "A J&M-Universal Telvision Production"? I've never seen the show.

Love the background. Wonder if they make wallpaper that looks like this.

I think they did back then.
ShaDeed329 2 years ago
Why is theme called "1963 theme" when it came out in 1961. I read in a book that "The Virginian first aired in 1962.
britfrenir 3 years ago
Read the description.
ShaDeed329 3 years ago
And further more, this logo theme is warped so it's from the color blinking negatives "which" came out in 1963, thank you.

Who know what network will bring back "The Virginian" featuring this logo and the first color logo of Universal Television.
ShaDeed329 3 years ago
Hallmark Channel did it about five years ago, then they dropped their western programming like a hot potato.

what's Laramie?

This is also faster because Hallmark Channel showed The Virginian in time-compressed form (I think)...

Did They Have This On Tales Of Wells Fargo Sixth Season Episodes,Wagon Train Fifth Season Episodes As Well As The Virginian First
Season Episodes And Third And Fourth Season Episodes Of Laramie
GOOSEYGOOSE9 4 years ago 5
Season one of "The Virginian". I haven't seen them, but I know "The Virginian" did when I found out.
ShaDeed329 4 years ago
They did on the Sixth season Wells Fargo shows, as well as the last two seasons of Laramie. Not sure about Wagon Train, but they probably did.
actionsub 2 years ago
@actionsub
Wagon Train had this one during season 5 when several episodes were filmed in color, otherwise, all the other eps of that season were filmedin B&W.

add to that list of shows:
"Laramie" (first show that opened with NBC's softer-sounding Peacock logo in fall of '62);
and possibly "Wagon Train", which I heard was in a 90-minute color format for the 1962-63 season only
zekepig 4 years ago
What shows used this logo? It looks kinda cute, I think.
headphone355 4 years ago 2
I'm not sure what show had the color Revue logo. Overall, this is a spoof.
ShaDeed329 4 years ago
if that was from 1963, "The Virginian" (which was in color) was probably the only show using that logo
zekepig 4 years ago
it's 1962. i'll change it.

I know what did. "The Virginiarian" If I spelled it right.

It's the same speed. The video is different, but the music is the same. 5 seconds long.

Actually no it's not. I have the other themes, so the music isn't the same. The speed is much different from one another.

I'm gonna break this down for you.
Revue Studios
1958-1963 - Long version and standardized versions
1963 - Color Revue logo, standardized logo in upper notes
Universal Television
1963-1964 - "Blinking Negatives" Sped up version of the 1958 standardized theme (This video is using that version)
1964-1965 - "Zooming Globe #1" Slowed down version of the Revue theme.
ShaDeed329 4 years ago
Very accurate, too I might add. I remember the last season of "Leave It To Beaver" on ABC was in '62-'63. They used the B&W version of the sped-up Revue theme.
DJKhrome 4 years ago
ShaDeed, I stand corrected. Same seconds, different versions of the theme. The NBC color Revue theme is faster than the "Beaver" version.
DJKhrome 4 years ago 2
I hope you didn't get yourself confused!!! This is Revue's sped up version for Universal! Don't get confused!
ShaDeed329 4 years ago
OK, here's a question about the Universal "blinking negatives." I also grew up watching Jack Benny, and his show was produced by Revue in association with his "J&M Productions". If I remember correctly, didn't Revue have a B&W version of the blinking negatives for his show?

Here's a question for you and it came up to me hours ago. Now when you've seen "The Jack Benny Show" by Universal Television with the blinking negatives, what did it say on the co-producer's card? "A Universal Television-J&M Production" or "A J&M-Universal Telvision Production"? I've never seen the show.
ShaDeed329 4 years ago
The final title actually says,
"A Revue-J & M Production". I've seen it in two separate videos. Johnny L80 has it in his video history of Universal Television.
baldy2006 4 years ago 3
@DJKhrome The very last season or two of Jack Benny had the "Blinking Negatives" after Revue Studios changed to Universal City TV.
actionsub 1 year ago
And btw. It's shortened, but it's not Revue's original theme. It's Revue's sped-up theme for the 1st Universal Television logo.
