What an excellent job... you should be very proud. We started expanding ours this year and it's getting out of hand but a lot of fun! Thank god for e-bay and online sites to find retired village models!
Thanks, my wife says I'm too particular. Ha Ha, But of course she loves all the detail too. We enjoy having it every year. I do enjoy setting everything up, and yes, it has to be juuuust right. At least I try to get it right. Ha
Actually, it's a G.E. Lights and Sounds of Christmas unit. I have most of my buildings etc. on it, but the buildings that work from fiber optics are not, because I didn't want them to blink off and on like that.
Thanks, but I already have a Lionel Pennsylvania Flyer in there. You can see it between 3:15 and 3:50 minutes. I should have had it running while making the video, but overlooked it.
I am adding a lot more track to this years village for 2009.
hi your village is beautiful ,i am trying to make ocean for a new england village, could you please help with this has how to do it to make it shiny and to have waves and how would i do it ,thank `s so much,Debbie from ny
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I am sending you an email to answer your question, as I am limited on words in this space. I really hope you can get the ocean to work for you in your village.
Have you ever thought of joining Building New Worlds? That is where I have gotten alot of ideas and help with my displays. I think you would really like the villagers there.
Thank you for your nice comments. The water is made by using "Crystal Clear Caulking" bought at Lowes or Home Dept. For the falls, I squeeze it out onto a piece of glass in strips, and when it dries I peel it off, and hot glue it in place on the mountain. If you use it on Foam, coat the foam first with some kind of water based paint, because the caulking will melt the foam. Merry Christmas
Wow, that is a very good question. I have Dept 56, a lot of Lemax, and a few other various brands. But if price is going to be a factor, and of course quality, I prefer Lemax. They look really good, and you can get them on pretty good sales at places like Michaels. I get a lot of my things either right at or just after Christmas when they put them on sale for 50% to 75% off. Some places do a price adjustment and refund within so many days after purchase, so watch for the sales after you buy.
I appreciate your comments. Yea, mine started out pretty small also. It just kept growing over the years, and now it takes half of my 24 foot room. This one is for 2007. Have you seen the one for 2008? Just click above on "More From revweasel" Happy Villaging
Thanks, Yes, I did make some of my buildings, and others I bought at many different places over the years. It's a lot of collecting, and a lot of finding places to store it all.
Thank You. I just finished setting up this years village, and it really gets me in the spirit seeing it all aglow. I want to get a video of it, and get it up and running on youtube.
Once i get real into this collecting and have tons I am going to make my village then have 1 or 2 cable cars going up to a little fair-carnival. do you think that would be cool?
Thanks for the suggestion. I have thought about putting a pump, and a small fountain in there, but have never gotten around to doing it. It sure would be nice though. In this years village I have a lot more water etc in there. I'll have a video of it up and running before too much longer.
13 is a great age, and a good time to get started in village building. I use mostly foam, and Hot Wire foam cutting tools to create my village. I cut out the mountain with what is called a Hot Knife, then sculpture them with a Hot Wire Sculpturing tool. It's pretty simple and lots of fun when you have the proper tools to do it with. Good luck with yours in the future, and thanks for all of your comments.
I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I get a lot of pleasure designing it, and setting it up each year. I almost have this years ready to video, and get on you tube. I have a good many new additions this year, so I hope everyone enjoys it, and maybe even get a few ideas to use in their own villages.
Thanks for your interest. As for the water, I used Crystal Clear Caulk that I found at a local Home Dept. It is clear right out of the tube, and not white.
To get the caulk to form the water falling down, I applied it onto a piece of glass, and pealed it off after it had dried. I then hot glued it into place on the mountain.
As with ANY caulk etc, before you put it on foam, be sure to coat the foam with a water based paint or something, or else the caulking will melt the foam.
Oh Man, Don't give up. Mine didn't look near like this when I first started doing villages. And it still doesn't look like I want it too. I'm just fixing to start this years display, and I have several new ideas, so I hope to have it up and running soon where everyone can see it. Hopefully someone else can get some ideas for their own village from mine. I just glad you enjoy it, and thanks for the comment.
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Most of the vehicles are 1/32. Some are a little smaller, but the 1/32 scale seems to fit the scale of the people and buildings a lot better.

I sure do, in fact, I have seen several other villages which have the cable cars going up on the mountains, and they are very nice.
I personally am fixing to order one for my village this year.

Did you by any chance see part 2? It's much shorter, but I only made it to show the lights at night time.
