  • Are you idiots really using this video to discuss politics? Get a life.

  • coolsweetgroovy. Just remember, somebody's dream is another's nightmare. Millions of frustrated voters who put their faith and trust in Obama feel betrayed. He has done nothing to help those in need and everything to help himself try to get re-elected. Face it. The dude is a complete joke and the worst president in the history of this country. He WILL be thrown out of office in a landslide and history will judge him harshly..as it should.

  • @45valkyrie2usa53 Ok we can agree to disagree

  • In honor of Barack Obama The Dream is Still Alive

  • Carnie is probably the best singer out of the group and she does look hot in this video.

  • good one D !!!

  • i love them and always will, i thought wen they came out they'd be around forever. sadly that didnt happen. so strange.

    san jose,california

  • @maineysanjose I was a kid then, and I loved them then as I do now. I saw them in concert for the first time a few months ago at the Cerritos Performing Arts Center and even briefly met Michelle Phillips after the show and thanked her for the Monterey Pop Festival for helping to bring Hendrix to the United States and give him the stage for about forty five historical minutes. WP did a great show and as a kid I thought they would be around forever, but, that's not the way it goes sometimes.

  • Wendy reminds me of Geena Davis.

  • this video was very colorful Carnie lookedso good in this video!!

  • My boyfriend was an extra in the Give It Up video

  • to this very day, these girls are still as beautiful as ever :)

  • I don't think single version did as well as it could have because it remixed Carnie's harmony as the lead and that makes the lead vocal kind of boring, since it's actually harmonizing. Had Chynna's lead remained the lead, it might have done better on the charts.

  • @imachias yes i agree. the original version with Chynna as the lead sounds so much better and i believe it would hit the top 3.

  • This is my favourite WILSON PHILLIPS track.

But they turned out so many brilliant songs, just like their Dads did.

    Where are they now?

Would love to see them live in Scotland, or anywhere.

Robin Topping - Mauchline Ayrshire Scotland - 4th Aug 2011

  • great group! I miss this kind of music.

  • What a Beautiful Song.. Deep Heart Touching.

  • @DDJ478 Wow! I though the was the only one who remembered this playing after the Bulls won in '91. I absolutey despise the Lakers which made a fond memory for me. You know Boston should've won last year if it werent for the crooked refs. F*CK the Lakers! You'll NEVER see a championship again.

  • I did not know there was a video for the song...LAst night listened to the album!Great music!

  • wow, look how long they have known one another! Friends forever! well, of course the two are sisters, but still

  • all kinds of beautiful smiles in this video.

  • If there is one beautiful woman I know who she is.

  • Inspiringly Beautiful!!!

  • no trio ever like Wilson Philips....

  • @popis89

    Really? What about Bee Gees?

  • The best ever

  • such a talented group...thanx for the upload!!!

  • their best song

  • Oddly enough, Chynna Phillips has went on record and said that she HATED this song.

  • @bluenail03 That's alright. Her mother hated Monday, Monday.

  • I luv the exotic look of carnie wilson in this video more than her two stick thin members when this video was filmed.

  • @JEEminn3000 The other two were thin, but not "stick thin".

  • I sure hope they make another album...forget the charts and trends, just make the music they love because i know die hard fans will go for the album

  • This song is barely listenable but it's still better than You're in Love (I felt like I was torturing myself with the hideous sound)

  • @ debfan74 not necessarily. Janet's final single from Rhythm Nation turned out to be one of the album's biggest radio singles (7 weeks at #1 on the Radio). Mariah Carey's had a few final album singles go to #1 as well (I Don't Wanna Cry, Always Be My Baby, My All). Unless the band is a one-album fluke ;) then the last single is typically still popular (unless it's like the 7th+ single from the album)

  • The dream is still alive in us, Carnie, Wendy and Chyna. Your parent's legacy will live on in us, as they will live on in you. Cheers.

  • 4:03 - 4:04 coolest part.

wilson philips doing the dave, kurt and kris of Nirvana pose. LOL

  • I miss Wilson Phillips. Carnie should stay off the reality shows and the 3 of them should get back on stage!

  • @ajd1211 are they triplets???? wilson phillips

  • @ji3200 I think Wendy and Carnie are sisters. Chyna, I believe is the Phillips.

  • @ji3200 No they are not triplets. Carnie Wilson, Wendy Wilson, and Chynna Phillips. Carnie, and Wendy are sisters Chynna is no relation to them. Chynna is a childhood friend of Carnie and Wendy.

  • @ji3200 I think they're not triplets.

Carnie and Wendy were the daughters of Brian Wilson

of the Beach Boys while Chynna is a daughter of John and Michelle

Phillips of The Mamas & The Papas.

They grew up together in Southern California in the '70s and the '80s. They shared a love of music and songwriting, and developed their own style of vocal harmonies.

  • @ajd1211 I doubt that will happen anytime soon with Chyna focusing on Christian Pop.

  • it disappointed me when this song did not get as much play as the previous singles did....it always seems that any song from an album is like that , when the last single comes out, it falls by the wayside

  • more close ups of wendy w/ her hair up, damnit!!!

  • Never saw this video till now!!!

  • hey!!! this is good! i clicked here just to c how wendy looked, but chynna's background singing is fantastic!

the way they made carnie eyes, she looks hapa here

i bet the ladies r tired of reading how all us guys remember hearing this from a basketball game, haha!! i think i almost remember that...

  • Carnie Wilson sang this song real well. She's a great singer and I actually liked her better when she was a bigger girl.

  • @elmando5 yuck

  • @elmando5 My thoughts exactly. As a fat woman Carnie in her own right is one of the most attractive fat women in the world. As a skinny chick she's just another hot chick.

  • love the song..sooo much!

  • I've always loved Wilson PHillips, and this song. This video though, I don't know. Between Carnie's headband and Chynna's greased back hair. Not to mention Wendy's Page boy hair. Come on, director of this vid!

  • this takes me back to when i was a junior in hs driving around in my cavalier singin my heart out thinkin about the feelings i felt toward a guy i dated. Although i feel nothing toward that guy now, it does take me back to a innocent happy time in my past. GOOD UPLOAD

  • Good music that ,s grups WILSON and PHILLIPS! Really .....

  • Truly one of thier best singles...one of my all time fav's

  • beautiful song

  • Wilson Phillips was an amazing trio. A combination of extraordinary talent and beauty made thiis group one of the best musical acts of the 1990's and their music will always be timeless for many years to come.

  • love this song and wilson phillips after almost 20-yrs the dream is still alive!!

  • carny is the BEST dont think you have to change

  • Yes they are all beutiful, but it's their harmony that i love the most.

    John Hunter Phillips

"If We Ever Need A Super Man"

  • Drive Them For A New SuperTerrifac Hit..They Do Wish!....but it's about a photography using THE..(for you)..The Popular song!..I dunno.

  • Wendy is really beautiful! they all are but each is sexy in their own way, the chynna is sultry wild sexy,,,,carnie is fun adorable sexy and Wendy is shy smart sexy!

  • Wendy has very pretty eyes

  • Me gusta mucho esta cancion. ;)

  • Like this song a lot. WP are gorgeous. :)

  • They played this song after the 1991 NBA Finals on NBC after Michael Jordan won his first title against the Lakers.

We were all like WTF??? Wilson Phillips??!!

  • Claro !!! yo me preguntaba donde he escuchado esta cancion ?! en ese juego pierde L.A y me senti triste porque Magic Jhonson no pudo con el equipo de los Bulls ... me robaste el comentario amigo !

  • :: this is a great song.... the dream is still alive.... " eyes like twins" is a good song too... i had a tape and a cd of these girls and i love listening to their voices....

:: next to you is amazing too...

    +=vanica=+

  • Woohoo! Jimi Hendrix!

  • my dreams are still alive today due to songs like hold on the dream is still alive and flesh and blood i was a young man with many troubles but with my faith in god and threw the sounds of wilson phillips here I am now in my mid30 in love with the same person for 8 years and now helping other troubled teens god bless

  • i believe this was also summer of 1990? anyway great vocals and good song

  • I want to dedicate this song to our new president Barack Obama.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm just not going to dedicate to his programs. They aren't going to keep the dream alive. The fact that a colored person can get elected President though does say alot. Great song!!!!

  • Colored??? Wow!

  • yeah that was a bit ignorant......everyone is "colored"...pink,red,brown,black...except Conan O'Brien...he's just so pale he's colorless LOL

  • @elmando5 I agree 100% with you

  • @elmando5 I agree with you

  • ..For all the times we tried, the DREAM IS STILL ALIVE!

  • whos the fat chick? shes so beautiful...amazing voices

  • That's Carnie Wilson. Beach Boys Brian Wilson's daughter. She is no longer overweight since her surgery.....

  • Wendy looks so much like Diane Neal in this video. Diane would be a good choice if there was a Wilson Phillips biopic.

  • a deeper look into this song and video will reveal some sorta magic, it definantly evokes the past. watch 3:14 to 3:34, its an awsome feeling. :) Peace

  • i loved them and this song, i was like 10 or 11 Wow my dayz at Roosevelt Park and Rec center In Modesto, California on Orangeburg Avenue. Those times were so carefree, oh i loved it, not a care in the world, except Wilson Phillips, Paula Abdul, and Milli Vanilli LOL those were the dayz, Hot summers, and this song :) aaahhh.

  • Chynna is the best among the three. She really beautiful she is not just a singer but can be a great actress. Unfortunately after she married to William Baldwin I have not seen any either new album or movie from her.

  • I am a bit scared by this video. Are they pretending to be fortune tellers? I saw 'Children Of The Corn' and they were really good in that.

  • beaufiful and talented girls!

  • CHYNNA is unbelievably beautiful. she cud hav been a supermodel

  • what a truly inspiring song

Thank you very much Chynna, Wendy and Carnie!!!

  • More than any other of Wilson Phillips songs, this song shows each one of the girls "true" singing talents. I really love how Carnie was able to provide her real range (her low to high note, just like Brian provides). Wendy is just like her Uncle Carl (so very underrated) and Chynna is just like both John and Michelle. Between the three of them, they totally make their Mamas and Papas (no pun intended) very proud.

  • Yes, the kids truly had respect for their parents' tradition of vocal harmonies. Seems like country music is the only place you hear it anymore, it's sad. But, nearly 20 years have gone by, it'll be exciting to hear what THEIR kids come up with!

  • I love wilsion phillips!

  • This video is like a major acid dream. But then again, they are children of the drug addict hippies from the 60's.

  • I mean that in a good way. Their parents are living legends and their musical talents is very evident with these girls.

  • Thank god for 'drug addicted hippies' if these girls are the result :O)

  • I completely forgot how good Wilson Phillips is. I'm glad they've come to YouTube.

  • i've always been a wilson phillip's fan. i remember the 1st cd i bought was their debut record.;-) they have great songs!

  • Back in the 1900s...the time of innocence...you don't find such innocence as this in todays crappy world. I don't know about Chyanna, but Carnie and Wendy really showed the world you can have fun without being naughty. Ugh. I wish I could have seen it.

I was born at a crappy time...

    and this song ROCKS!

  • What an euphony this song is.^^

  • yes it truly is a euphony!! i love it and always have :)

  • This video is proof that you can mix pop and rock together as long you do right. I think Wilson Phillips really accomplished that with this video. Their first album is my favorite pop record of all time. It has such a cool and calm feeling to it that you'll be relaxed by the time the record stops playing.

  • this is what im sopose 2 sing in school

  • this video is SOOOOO 1990...but who really cares, the song still rocks

  • This is definitely my favorite song by Wilson Phillips. There are definitely one of the best female trios ever. All such gorgeous and hugely talented women.

  • Love me some Wilson Philips.

  • Wilson Phillips made good songs.I love this one and Your in love.I love Carnie's voice. Why couldn't the music stay like this.I hate todays crap.

  • Yeah!

    You are so right.

    So right.

  • Hey Carrie Wilson kind of reminds me of someone. She kind of reminds me of Ann Wilson of Heart(of today) not yesturday. In a good way. :)

  • Love to see the bond exudes within the trio, it relates to the song and the glimpse of their childhood makes a perfect perk . it makes me miss my dear friends more!

  • I love Wendy's '50s mom hair and pearls! It suits her quite well.

  • I love this song but I always thought it was weird that when they released the single they decided to make it a "Carnie" lead on the chorus without re-recording the track. Carnie has a beautiful voice, but she's singing harmony on the chorus and they decided to make it the lead. Musically it doesn't make sense. Great video and song though.

  • You got a point there. On the album version, Chyna's voice stands out on the chorus but on the remixed 7 inch version, they re-synched the voices and added some guitars to make it sound like Carnie is the lead vocalist which, in a way, sounds more balanced, but when she says the word "heart" in the chorus, Chyna is nowhere to be heard on the 7 inch radio version.

  • Yeah, I understand what you mean. On my cassette version (and CD version too, I believe...... ) Chynna's voice has dominance during the chorus of this song. ;-) It's almost as if they remixed it and upped the volume on Carnie's part and lowered it on Chynna's, as if to emphasize this was "Carnie's lead."

I don't mind at all... but... kind of odd. lol

  • though it sounds kinda better this way, cause all 3 voices can still be appreciated than the cd version.

  • Yes, it sounds weird to hear Carnie's notes as the lead when her singing the lower notes would usually be the backup. Also notice the drums remixed, different guitars during the middle of the song when the drums stop and they harmonize, and other remixes during the song. It is known as the Q-sound remix on the original cassette singles.

  • Poor Wendy was barely in the song and when she was, she was singing ooh and some harmony. At some points it sounded like Chynna had laid down her own harmony track.

  • Yes, I agree. I think they did this as a way to give Carnie a 'lead single', because Chynna had 2 (with "Hold On" and "You're in Love") and Wendy had one (with "Impulsive"). I remember so hoping they would release "Eyes Like Twins" or "Next to You" instead, both songs which displayed Carnie's vocal range.

  • Annalissac, I agree. "Eyes Like Twins" was a good song and really showcased Carnie's vocal ability. "Next to You" was really good, too, but I think the "Ohhh-eee-Ohhh" looping through the song made it a hard sell in the mainstream.

  • The current singers don't make these kind of music anymore. I can still sing along with all Wilson Phillips' songs after all these years...lol

  • I love Wilson Phillips and this is my favourite song. I notice though that you can hardly hear Wendy singing in this clip, and Carnie's voice really stands out. Even during the chorus when Carnie is not the lead vocal, you hear her more than the others. I wonder why that is? It still sounds amazing though. All 3 have amazing voices!!

  • Luv this song, it never got the recognition it should have when it was released, should have gone to number 1 or at least top 5, perfect closeing for the album

  • Christina,Britney and most of their type in this day and age cannot be compared. But This is not Bubble Gum Pop At All.

  • I agree. I think you have to go back the the fact that these girls grew up with extremely talented parents(the Mamma's and the Pappas and Brian Wilson) Is it any wonder they have mastered harmony so well??

  • I will never understand why "Next to You (Someday I'll Be) was not released as a single. I guess some "suit" decided they had made a killing already and why look a gift horse in the mouth. The sad thing is I am sure it would have been a big hit and more than just those who bought the album would have heard it.

  • I agree that entire album was hit after hit. not since Blondie's Parallel Lines had an album with a female lead voice(s) had so many excellent cuts.

  • Listen to Heart's 1985 self titled album, every song on that could of been a hit! :=)

  • Sheeeeet. Heart can rock better than most male bands.

  • for me brigade is their best overall album but heart is a great album also.

  • Not sure if that song would've been a good single. I hear what you are saying, especially if that song is a fave, but IMO, it was not single material. B-side, yes. I love the song "Eyes Like Twins" and am glad it was never a single as it would not have cut it against the other songs. It is like my own piece of personal magic on that album that I don't have to share with anyone else :-)

  • OMG i so agree with you on the song "eyes like twins" it was my own personal majic too :) that song just takes me to a different time and place..Love it!! i was like 10 but i still love it to this day as much as i did then.."Ooh your Gold" is good too :)

  • this isnt the original version of the song, its too low. I dont know what this is. Its still good, but i want the original.

  • Yup, this WAS indeed played at the end of the 1991 finals. Of the five hits from this album, this one was certainly better than "Release Me," which charted higher and got more airplay but wasn't as good. Oh well. The early 90's were the best part of the decade.

  • BULLS BABY!!!!

  • Chicago SKY! Haha. :) Just playin. I cover the WNBA for a website and the Sky are indeed a great bunch of gals.

  • Indeed a beautiful song Carnie & Chynna looked really cute there the short hair look that Chyna had, made her look Dazzling. The song is an inspiration of how far we have overcome our heritage and that The Dream is Still Alive and well.

  • its good song

  • Beautiful. Like angels. Love you Tammy. playlist material

  • The title "the dream is still alive" comes from a lyric in one of the Bangles' songs.

  • Interesting, which one? I like TheBangles but can't remember their song that have these lyrics...

  • "Be With You"

  • This was one of their better songs. I had their debut CD, and from top to bottom, it was really neat.

Here's something funny...I remember NBC playing this song while running the closing credits after game 5 of the 1991 NBA Finals when Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls beat the Los Angeles Lakers.

  • Weight issues or not, Carnie was beautiful in this video.

  • Agreed!! :c) I love her voice!

  • tbis cute song forgot about it. love it .

  • Christina, Brittney, and the rest of the corporate poseurs have NOTHING on these talented beauties! Dream is still alive is right, baby! Sing on ladies!

  • only 15 k views? They are so georgeous and sing heavenly

  • quite by chance i came across wilson phillips on you tube,i goota say i've got a couple of their cd's and i can say they are and where brilliant, they speak volumes for a lot of us girls out there who hav at one time in our lives hav been hurt, gbut goes to prove we all can bounce bak, come on girl power,

  • u know girls are not the only gender that are hurt i can assure you of that. I went 2 years of drowning myself in tears alone in my apartment and drink myself to death hoping that i would die on the couch where i lay helplessly thinking about where i went wrong in ten years of relationship and that my brother who i gave xtra keys to wouldn't check up on me. And now i'm finally free and back on my feet thinking she ain't worth dying for

  • good for you mate i know it is'nt just girls that get hurt but i'm pleased you picked urself up.i'm now happily married again so it just goes to prove that life can and will get better, good luck in what ever you do,

  • thank you and i hope that u are happily married and whoever he is he's very lucky to have a sincere and beautiful person as well as personality like you

  • thankyou for your kind words,it's not just my new husband who is lucky i to am verylucky to have found him again after nearly 35 years it's a long story but we new each other many year ago and then as time went by we both drifted in differant dirrections but eventually met up up again, perhaps destiny had a hand to play who knows, good luck in what ever your life holds out for you.

  • DAMN Chynna looked great in this video.

  • i used to listen to the radio in the uk and belinda carlisle got more air play even tho there both as good as each other.

  • im only a fan of this song because they played this when jordan and the bulls won their first championship in 91

  • I think this is one of their one of their forgotten hits....it didn't go to #1 but it hit the top 20....I think it was one of their best!

  • Keep up da gud work, awesome!!

  • Nice posthumous cameo by Jimi Hendrix.

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! you freaking rock!!!!!!!!!

  • I remember they played this song at the ending credits of the 1991 NBA finals when Chicago beat LA.

  • There was also a version in Spanglish! Wasn't too bad!

  • There was a Spanish version of Wilson Phillips "hold On", done by the group, Pandora... I wish someone would post some Pandora videos !

  • I read somewhere that the blond singer Chynna is the daughter of the actor Dennis Hopper, and her Mom is Mamas and Papas singer Michelle Phillips...is this true?

  • No, John Phillips is the Chynna's father

  • Actually, Chynna Phillips is the daughter of Michelle and John Phillips- both of the Mamas and the Papas.

  • By the time this song came out the "girls" were already being ignored. This was another song that could have made top five but it never got air play. From this point on they were pretty much dissed in their careers. You have to remember that this is when GRUNGE music became popular.

  • Sad, really... a lot of really talented people, and good musicians had their careers cut short by the Grunge craze. I turned to my own roots and started listening to Latin Music and Mexican pop groups like Mecano at that point...

  • Your right I apoligize

  • This video was released in the fall of 1991 not 1990
