  • they sold the rights to their website to the U.S. political party with the same name...damn. i guess sometimes it IS all about the money, eh?

put these guys right up there with other early '90's influential canuck bands. gotta get Jeff Martin back in Canada and the band back on tour... Aussies probably don't even know he's down there.

  • Unfortunate name in this day and age.

  • He looks a bit like Jim Morrison... anyone else getting that?

  • @loopdeluke Apparently he got that a lot during the hay-day of The Tea Party. He sounds like Morrison too

  • I am glad I found this band even if it was due to the domain name controversy.

  • Keep the domain name. You guys are awesome.

  • not exactly my cup of "tea" but even as a metal head id have to admit they're interesting or atleast their musical ability, not too crazy about the singing and song itself

  • Just found out about this band from a news article on yahoo about their domain name being confused with the political movement. Sorry I heard about this band that way, VERY COOL music, makes me think The Doors meets Led Zeppelin.

  • Canada has its own culture and sense of humor that they are known for. Proud to Canadian.

  • Rush and Tea Party are both awesome Canadian bands. Yes Canada does have great bands. They sound different then bands from other places, and rightly so. Because they are different. Different is good.

  • one of the best bands in the world, shame they are canadian. how about we swap acdc for the tea party, straight trade - handshake is all thats required.

  • saw them live once in Melbourne- best gig ever.

  • I saw these guys live 3 times and they're absolutely phenomenal musicians!

  • Tea party's music is real drugs I suddenly felt much better after this! THIS IS WORLDS MOST UNIQUE BAND EVER EXISTED! and are they GREAT? NO! THEY ARE FANTASTIC, FENOMENAL, AWESOME, SUPERB! It's hard to write down every word that you feel. hope you know what I mean!

  • I miss them so much!! I love all of their music, yes, I agree with what you about losing their eastern influence.....too bad....I would love to see them again in Concert....playing anything as brilliantly as they did before....and hoping for the same now, in the present.....I will pass it on...that they will be touring.....color me in!!

  • IMHO, the band's biggest downfalls were:

    1) Never adding a second guitarist/instrumentalist to handle the exotic stuff live, or when Jeff wants to solo.

    2) Jeff moving up out of his baritone range post Alhambra.

    3) The band dropping all the eastern/Zeppelin influences and replacing them with Nine Inch Nails influences from Transmission onwards.

First three albums are golden, and Jeff's solo work/Armada has moments of brilliance as well.

  • @Anjohl too true, you obviously know them well

  • They're playing in Ottawa at blues fest as well

  • Rumour seems true Wikipedia says that they will reform briefly to play Sarnia Bayfest and Canadian tour. Sarnia Bayfest lists the Tea Party on their website as participants. PASS IT ON!

  • man Jeff Martin totally looks and sounds like Jim Morrison.

  • what song is played at the beginning? is it "save me"?

  • @Bobbybooshay08 'Winter Solstice'

  • I remember this, i was young at the time, but i wuz here. THE MOST INTENSE CONCERT EVER!!!! I am probably THE biggest tea party fan ever!

  • when was this?

I love the tea party. I saw Jeff Martin at the Mod Club a few weeks ago and he's as amazing as ever

  • Something about the tea party just never hit me. It's not that they write bad music or anything, I just could never buy into the whole "best band ever" thing.

  • Holy crap how did I miss this video??? Excellent arrangement with Winter Solstice intro!

  • A shame that they split! I would be so happy when they´d come to Germany live gigs!

  • I first heard them on the radio over a decade ago so they did have success in America. Edges of Twilight is the best album ever made. :)

  • how could you not like this

  • NUTS ON THE DRUMS,,,,FUCK YEAH

  • Morroc'n'roll FTW!

  • crazy amazing live band, i had no idea how crazy they were live until i saw it, i left that show sweaty and shirtless with no intentions of doing so on the way in........Jeff is crazy with any stringed instrument it seems

  • always get chills listening to this, fukin rocks, love this band.....they should be more famous imo

  • Jeff lives here in Ireland now...in Cork.

  • I love the tea party, always saw them play whenever I could, met Jeff Burrows at the airport (by chance) he gave me the brush off but I'll forgive him...

  • very talented band...

  • I have seen them maybe 25 times.

After Metallica, my favorite live band.

Jeff Martin is a right handed guitar player

Stuar is a left handed bass player.

On stage, this detail just look great, symmetrical, drumer in center.

I have drink few beer with Jeff Martin at Wanda's inMontreal

He speaks perfect French, just great. And he is amazing artist.

I feel a empty since they broke. Never find a band that make me feel so alive.

    I deeply miss you TTP

  • I had the priveledge of seeing them play in Boston Ma and they were incredible.

  • Totally agree! Three dudes and they sound like many more...and still the only North American band to have an Asian music scale twang to date. And that's really where they got a huge edge from and nobody has tried it since.

  • this gives me the chills. fucking incredible!!!

  • Stunning.

  • jim morrisson look alike bastard! they are all so talented too bad they broke up

  • Amazing.

  • i just noticed:

    6:30 = Pulse

    :D

  • I WANNA SEE THEM LIVEEEEEEEEe!!!

    :(

  • great talents and underated!

  • The money I'd pay to be there.. it's spellbinding.. his voice is something else..

  • @mehmus - Spellbinding, thats the perfect word for this music!

    I love it!

  • I miss these guys. Their albums were great but seeing them live was incredible.

Saw them at Arizona's in St. Catharines. Started to pour during Temptation - great time

  • Very great band... I saw them live supporting Queensryche 15-some years ago here in Italy and they were so cool. It is a shame they are so underrated. This is real music played with skills feeling, and passion. How many great bands came out of Canada? Must be something in the water up there!!

  • @blandopher Me too, saw them supporting Queensryche in Holland, blew them almost from the stage and made me run to the cd-store:)

  • Sigo sin entender, por qué grandes bandas cómo lo es The Tea Party,no son reconcidas a nivel mundial...La gente prefiere escuchar porquerías cómo el Reggaeton o el rock comercial.

  • Most underrated band I ever know, being listening to them since 95 still totally unknown in Europe,

  • @aryathorn hey dude, i agree. i live in Australia, luckily enough there are a lot of fans here. Jeff Martin tours here regularly. he was here last year and this year.

  • Comment removed

  • @aryathorn I couldn't agree with you more. I always described them to friends as"Led Zeppling meets The Doors" with a modern middle eastern flare. I saw then when I used to live in Texas back in the 90's and really thought they'd explode here in America. Guess I was wrong. :-(

  • @keyzone72 oh well I don't really blame the band but the marketing mangers, they tried their luck in Europe as well and only managed to make a gig or 2 in Germany and that's it, still no one knows them over here in EU

its so unbelievable, so much crap 'modern' rock bands get so famous while some others with unique style and sound barely get known

  • @aryathorn Not totally unknown. I've been raving about them here in the UK to any who will listen since 1993. Superb band.

  • @aryathorn erm i live in europe and have been listening to them since 95' so thats not entirely true..

  • Oh nice, he used the Arabic tablah/derbakeh in 4:04!

  • Ahh.. Me olvidaba... Sister awake !!!!

Salu2

  • QUE BUENA BANDA !!!!!!

  • Así es.

  • Loved the East Indian influence in their music!!!!

Go Canada! We're proud of them even if they're not around anymore!

  • We can bring them back together if we get their old stuff even more popular than when it was around!

    GET TO WORK!

  • I'm down dude.....but people seem to like the Jonas Bros more........what a bummer.....Meh i say meh to this generation......Music has lost its sense of urgency and rawness and everything sounds so fucking techno now that true talent is under-appreciated....What a fuckin' bummer.....I still love the solo Jeff Martin stuff - the Armada though....I have his CD....good stuff....but I'll give it a shot i mean making the stuff popular.....

  • @funlivelife good news is there back again, saw them in buffalo this summer one of the top 5 concerts ive ever been too

  • Misterio oculto en la razón de otras culturas.

  • By far, one of the best bands to ever emerge from the 90's! Too bad they didn't hit it in America

  • @biggorilla730 they hit it with me, my brothers, and my friends. It must have been poor airplay on FM radio because the music speaks loudly.

  • @biggorilla730 Maybe it's a good thing that The Tea Party never got big in the U.S...... One of Canada's best kept secrets

  • @SeeYouinHollywood Totally, they are the reward to those who are unsatisfied with radio and discover them while thoroughly hunting through the '90's.

  • whats the cool thing the play at the start before sister wake..i have heard it before , I just cant think of the name

  • It's the instrumental track "Winter Solstice" from their first album "Splendor Solis".

  • I seen these guys in Seattle way back when this came out ,what a show. They made some great music with eastern sound and beats. This is some of the best music ever made!

  • sister awake! awake! awake! awake!!

    god I miss this band

  • what an amazing voice, and he still has such awesome voice. Its a real pleasure to hear him live, even in the days where it seems he doesnt want to be there ahaha, he sings too good.

  • Comment removed
