  • inigualable el maestro Neil Diamond un grande!!!!, que buenas influencias me ha dejado mi padre

  • Whilst dancing closely with a friend to this song, I fell deeply in love with him 28 years ago . But he was married, so I didn't pursue it. Life went on and took us both in different directions. But now he is mine and turns my heart light on constantly :o)

We still love this song as much as we did then :o)

  • Wonderful song

  • Marcou uma geração inteira...

  • Great Song!! Although I've always had a few questions:

    1. How creepy is it that he saw E.T. and decided to make a song about it?

    2. Who is singing to who here?? Is Neil singing to E.T. or is this from Elliotts perspective?

    3. E.T. was in the basket while Elliott rode the bike, so who is going to drive the bike here?

Is Neil driving with the little boy on his lap? Is Neil in the basket?

    4. Don't wake me up too soon? Is Neil the young boy dreaming?

WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING IN THIS SONG??

  • sit down and shut up

  • @MrJonk1969 OK now Jonkster I was just posing a serious query into the meaning of this beloved song of mine and you had to go and get all personal and familiar now didn't you?I was so hurt by your demand that I clicked on your name to try and get to the bottom of your aggression. From your name alone I see that you are in your early forties and by your favorite song selections can understand your lame'O love for all things cheesy and schlock filled from your childhood days of listening to AMGOLD

  • @Annamandabella look, bitch. first of all, i love this song, too, and it's on my playlist. I'll b 41 next week, to b exact, and yes, i love my 70s easy-listening music, and i *do* have some AM GOLD cd's; love them. But i have many more songs to add to my playlist, and they won't all b from that genre.

So i reiterate, sit down and STFU. or better yet, get in the kitchen and bake something.

  • @Annamandabella: I like cheese mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm cheese

  • @chameleon747: I like crackers with cheese mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm crackers and cheese

  • @MrJonk1969

    1. I am sitting down. That's how I usually use my computer. What, Do you stand at some kiosk at the local library?

    2. I fail to see why you're asking me to shut up. I didn't say a word.

    3. I find it thoroughly hilarious that you took the bait to begin with, was called out and had your entire existence summed up in a few succinct details. Leading you to insult a man with chauvinistic taunts.

    4. This is my wife's YouTube account.

    5. You're an over the hill homo bro.

  • @Annamandabella your post is nonsensical gibberish, except you're right about the homo part. And if you live long enough, believe it or not, you too will be 40 yo someday (and it comes a lot quicker than you think it will).

    Cya. wouldn't wanna b ya.

  • was this song about ET "the extra terrestrial"?

  • a classic Burt Bacharach melody.

  • I want to dedicate this to my dad... I miss him tons... I hope that when I get to heaven.. he could take me on that ride across the moon... My heartlight will always shine for him... Thanks Niel for all the memories...

  • This song is from my childhood. I personally wasn't a big fan of the movie, but I liked this song a lot. It reminds me of my older sister who was like a mother to me. She was a little girl herself, but she would call the local radio stations back in the 80's and request this song for her little brother, me.

  • Last top 5 pop hit for Neil. Peaked at #5 in Billboard.

  • Yobhtron, Hope you have enjoyed your short stay in Rochester, NY. Sorry, you have to experienced the harsh winter blasts. Next pls. visit during Spring or Summer and make sure to stay longer. There is so much to see. Sorry, that I'm not there, so busy w/school in Europe.

Hug your son for me, will you?

Neil Diamond forever........turn your heartlight now.

    Regards from México

  • When was this song created ?

  • This song is from the Steven Spielberg movie E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, released in 1982.

  • The song was not part of the movie. It was written by Neil Diamond after he saw the movie, which makes it a great tribute song. Around the same time there was a movie called Romancing the Stone with Sharon Stone and Michael Douglas, and Eddie Money wrote a song of the same name after he saw that movie. Those are the only two movies I know of that inspired this kind of response.

  • 1983 from the album "Heartlight".

This song was written by Neil Diamond, Carol Sayer and Burt Bacharach

  • @lpp141 1982 - it was from Neil's album called "Heartlight", which also featured the great hit "I'm Alive" (which was his last top 40 hit in 1983.)

  • Love this video and I love the song. It has a lovely old school feel to it. I don't know why but it puts me in mind of 80's New York

  • I hear ya brother :)

  • you mean sister. lol :)

  • Yes, this is a great song and it is especially well-suited for chord substitution (for you jazz buffs out there). I especially like Neil's casual entrance....and he nailed it in one take! :-)

  • OK finally I got to commet on this Fab video. Thiis awesome, to bad the advertisments get int he way. GBU and thxz for posting this :) Neil
