  • Sound like hergest ridge uh ?

  • I would like so much to had met Mike Oldfield of that era...

  • @EntropiaMusic My Dad saw him from inside a cafe in Bristol around that time...him and his friends all pointed at him and he scowled back at them, got in his (expensive!) car and drove off!

  • @organaphus Lol... we must admit... not the most social person in the world!

  • This is simply wonderful.....

  • If Beethoven was alive today his favourite artist would be MO.

  • This should have the most views on youtube. Not some 16 year old kid with a high pitched voice and no real music talent.

  • Beautiful and haunting. :)

  • FROM where can I listen to this track?

I listened to Tubular Bells but this track isn't there....

  • MAster!!! He was 18 when he created Tubular Bells!!!!!!

  • @jmdetom So true. I remember I absolutely idolised him at the time.

  • Never thought the bagpipe guitars could sound so hauntingly beautiful.

This just does something special to me.

    Best Oldfield song ever.

  • Words cannot express the beauty of this.

  • please some put b-side of this single, his rendition is so-so cool

  • Different from the '09 mix, pretty cool :)

Similar to Hergest Ridge in mood....

  • Fantastic find!

I first heard this single in 1974 and was instantly hooked, even before listening to the album. Went out and bought the single, but it was a duff pressing and within a few plays was impossible to listen to.

This music certainly takes me back. Well done!

  • Mike a Genius !!!!!!! love him for ever !!!

  • Thank you for this piece. It’s wonderful. I like all the Oldfield stuff from the early years. Never heard this before in this version. Great.

Interesting stuff on your channel, thanks for share.

  • Chilling and yet sublime.

  • This is great :)

Reminds me of being on horseback in the Scottish Highlands for some reason.....

  • triffic - thanks

  • Oh, this sign I had very big and beautiful on my first car on the motor bonnet.

He was special. He had real true fans and there were the others who hated him.

His sister Sally Oldfield was great, too.

    Yes, very good photos inside!

  • this was the first Mike Oldfield I ever heard (on a PGL adventure holiday juke box in the 70s) Went out and brought Tubular Bells. Bit disappointed the version on the album was totally different.

    Nice to hear it again

  • Beautiful, fab photos, thanks for sharing

  • I've loved this (the original and best version) since I first heard it in the 70s. A big THANK YOU for posting!!

  • it was a 1973 single accompanying the album. the b side was even better: "froggy went a-courting"

  • How was this piece published if it's not the 2009 remaster?

  • wow much better than the 2009 remix - thank you so much
