  • Ultimate irony: A judge Rick Santorum and GW Bush likely thought would be a "keeper of the flame," so to speak, was the one who dealt the crushing blow to this idiocy. Well-played, judge. Golf claps for science all around!

  • 7:22 Po' baby- still angry that he didn't get his way. His entire counter-argument to the judge's decision is "he's a jackass and clown, and even though he went to law school and I didn't, he doesn't know the law, and I don't like him."

Honestly. A grown man- whining. It's pretty fucking pathetic.

  • What I find really odd is that when people continue to ask "Why are we here?" and when science explains it through genetics, physics, cosmology, biology etc, they say, "Ok, you explained how... but why?" What is this constant need for meaning? Is it so scary that there might not be a "reason" why we are here, we are simply just here through evolution, the Big Bang etc.

  • @FlyingBandicoot

Because people... probably due to the evils they can conceive... don't have enough faith in themselves to produce a meaning for their own existence. They feel they need a higher force to do it, rather than be told that they can work for the betterment of the future and the generations that will continue to dwell.

Interesting, too- something as rigid as religion stands no chance in evolving into something that can serve people better than science.

  • THE SCIENTIFIC CASE AGAINST ATHEISM: Please read this Internet article of mine published in Russia's English Pravda. It will be a real eye-opener for all who think belief in a Creator is merely subjective blind faith. Also read my article, LIFE ON MARS NO SURPRISE (In the Earth's past there was powerful volcanic activity which spewed life-containing dirt and rocks (meteors) into outer space. Mars may literally have millions of tons of Earth soil)

  • EXPLAINING HOW AN AIRPLANE WORKS doesn't mean no one made the airplane. Explaining how life and the universe works don’t mean there was no Maker behind them. Natural laws explain how the order in the universe works, but mere undirected natural laws can't explain the origin of that order. Once you have a complete and living cell, the genetic code/mechanisms exist to direct the formation of more cells, but how did the cell originate when no directing code or mechanisms existed in nature?

  • Thanks a bunch for posting this series of videos!

  • 7:21 - pure unadulterated butthurt.

  • deaththreads...only religious nutjobs can be such assholes

  • superb, well put together. Thank you Nova! What this does show is that Buckingham and a few other folks in Dover, are clearly proof that the evolutionary process does not guarantee a full proof system of species progression, indeed compared to our ape cousins it is clear that there are exceptions to the rule and indeed in some cases have taken a couple of steps backwards.

  • Evolution turned me into a newt !

    ... but I got better.

  • Thank you for posting this victory over stupidity.

  • Did anyone notice the muslim girl at 6:58? I wonder how much shit she has to take from the other fundamentalists in the school for not believing in their god

  • SCHOOL SCIENCE CLASSES DO need to teach SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCES that CONTRADICT the THEORY of evolution: There are literally THOUSANDS of scientific facts that do not support evolutional theory - especially in cosmology, chemistry, biology, paleontology, and mathematical language, ETC. The Mention of the WORDS; intelligent design, creator, supernatural, God, etc. DO NOT NEED. TO BE MENTIONED AT ALL in order to present the MULTITUDE of scientific FACTS that are NOT in ALIGNMENT with evolutional T

  • @TheWayandWordofLife oh? can you please present these. and why weren't this 'multitude of scientific facts' presented at the trial?

  • @SebiSthlm I would be amazed if he could produce even one of these alleged scientific "facts".

  • @Nucl3arTeacup me too! the strategy of people like @TheWayandWordofLife is pretty obvious though. if i say without anything to back me up that there are evidence against evolution, then maybe some dumb people will think "some people say it's true, some don't so it's 50-50 who's right". much like holocaust deniers.

  • @TheWayandWordofLife Unifying theory of biology. thats it. theres nothing else to be said

you cant argue it without looking like an idiot.

  • Awww, the poor creationists are mad that the ruling didn't go their way and they won't be able promote ignorance at the taxpayers' expense. Too bad, so sad.

  • Jesus rules the universe, accept it or not. on judgement day all mankind will see Jesus rules universe.

  • @bass109

    Prove it.

  • Lori is super, super hot.

  • 7:20

Mr. Buckingham: sore loser. I would love to hear him explain how the decision doesn't "jive" with the law.

  • I should clarify from my previous post in that when the error is in the sperm or egg cell, it won't affect your body, but that of your offspring's body.

It does puzzle me why people just don't believe in evolution, what is it about evolution that makes it unbelieveable?

  • @adam3141 Errors don't occur every time. If this were true, your body would be quickly consumed by cancer or you would have no cells (since errant cells will either die by themselves (programmed cell death) or the immune system will kill them). See telomeres, apoptosis and dna replication in general.

  • @swagger93 Swagger - I studied this - I work in the field. Errors do occur and it is fact. Your cells have to copy 3 billion base pairs every time a cell divides and while some of this can be corrected, sometimes they wont be. Most of the time the error will be in something called an intron - look it up. This means it will have no effect on the cell. Sometimes it will be in an exon and because of the way a proteins are made - it may also have no effect. See synonymous mutation.

  • @adam3141 You appear correct, and I'll concede that point with an apology.

  • Why do humans have DNA, as well as cats, dogs, fungi, trees and bacteria and furthermore, why are most of my genes more than 99% identical to that of a mouse.

Everytime a cell gets copied in your body, there are errors in that new copy of DNA. If this error happens to be in a sperm or egg cell then it can affect the way a gene behaves in your body (assuming the error was in a gene) and this effect can be good or bad. Natural Selection is a process that weeds out the bad effects.

  • A soul, a spirit, an ethereal substance. Call it what you will. I believe our bodies are the result of evolution and our soul is the work of our creator and when we die, our bodies decompose and our soul lives on.

Why can't people accept evolution theory? Have these people thought through it rationally in their minds. God gave us free-thinking minds to discover the world in all of its glory.

  • @adam3141

I agree. Galileo beleived that too.

  • I watched bits and pieces of this - I have yet to watch it all... What a waste of money the trial was, a million dollars that could have gone to improving the school rather than being wasted by a group of short sighted people.

Evolution is a fact of life, and it makes sense from a scientific point of view. I believe in a God, a creator if you will and I also believe in a soul.

What? you say - How can I believe in both Evolution and a Soul.

  • It would actually be really funny if the USA abandoned evolution because it would totally single them out and leave them all alone. These creationist idiots think that if they stop teaching evolution in America then that's it, all over. The rest of the civilized world will not stop teaching evolution regardless of what the states does.

  • @Brushles83 Please understand that not all of us US citizens are creationist fucktards... As you can see we can throw off the virus of religion and creationism.. but we have a lot of work to do...

    Support us!

  • @xn117 Don't listen to this moron troll. I wonder if he thinks it would be funny if countries had established churches? Oh wait, they do, but the United States is not one of them. England is. So are Denmark, Finland, Greece, Iceland and Norway. Aren't these liberal democracies with educated populations? DERP TROLL

  • @Brushles83 Troll.

  • 2 people have not evolved

  • Hmmm how do i put this? Ohh yeah judge Jones is a decent and honest man.

if you consider what background he had going to this trial, it took alot of guts to come out this strong on the side of reason!

As a european i could say Haha to all this bullshit but the world is changeing, countrys mean less and less and we need sane and rational ppl everywere so keep up the good fight!

May god be less, peace and love from Sweden...:)

  • 8:04 I don't get it, didn't both the plaintiffs and the defense ask the judge to decide if ID was science?

  • A very good insight into a very important trial and issue. Thank you for the upload, subscribed.

  • garbage in garbage out. Well said.

  • That school board religious member was such a retard. Saying the judge doesn't know law. I love how religious people who never took science think they know science, never took law and think they know law

  • Pat Robertson: "Dont turn to god, you just rejected him from your city!"

Hold on there bucko, I thought ID WASNT religious.

  • @BunsterByne

    Well spotted!!!!!!

  • @BunsterByne Thumbs up - Pat Robertson is the biggest crook and liar of them all - well spotted - boy these people just keep shooting themsleves in the foot - I think we are seeing a new paradigm shift - the end of religion.

  • LMAO!

The sign at 09:49 says "EVOLUTION: UNSCIENTIFIC + UNTRUF!"

  • That Judge was an idiot!! God created the world in 6 days. Period.

Now please excuse me, I'm about to sell my daughter into slavery, give away all my possesions and maybe stone some homosexuals to death if I gots time.

    Have a great day,

    God Bless!

  • @jazzyazz Fine. Just don't do it on the Sabbath.

  • Science for the win!

  • you know. the epicness of the fail experienced by ID was obvious halfway through the judge's ruling...but he just kept going!

  • "We were only trying to make the school system the best...". You think that he knows the road to hell is paved with good intentions?

As for the ex-cop, his tirade about the judge is simply - pathetic. Humbled because he lied in a federal trial? Not a chance. Jesus (and his ego) uber alles.

  • I always find it amusing that RELIGIOUS people are the ones posting the death threats. The hypocrisy upon hypocrisy...in your own commandments.

You can't refute science with faith or fear. You can't destroy it either.

  • i thought this was going to boring at first but dammit this is a very addicting Nova show.. love it.. (I D) lost ahahah = no scientific evidence to prove it.

  • Thank you for posting this documentary. I love NOVA and this was very informative. It seems that opponents to evolution are not up to date on the many recent discoveries that only give weight to Darwin's theory. They act like Darwinian theory is dogmatic, yet it is they who are dogmatic in their strong willed resistance to a theory well supported by tons of scientific evidence. Can't evolution be the how and not the why? We can leave the why to God. More answers will be revealed in time.

  • Peace requires the acceptance of diversity

Dogma requires the acceptance of adversity.

You are very right in your view. There seems to be a commonality to a dogmatic attitude that sees all that oppose, or threaten, their postion, as dogmatic.

  • @xTSARBOMBAx: I don't think that is the case. Hatred, I think, is a much better explanation than ignorance. The DI has the wherewithal to keep abreast with science; what else does it have but to try to counter what science says? That they seem to be imminently unsuccessful at establishing themselves as science says a lot. This is further indicated on the reluctance to change when they are forced to "small the coffee". Behe still believes the flagellum and the immune system are irreducible.

  • sore loosers :P

  • Father and daughter never reconciled; Prophecy came true.

Luke 12:51. Suppose ye that I (Jesus) am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three....."

  • @theredrooter

Ok, yea, and Im guessing you pulled that right out of your ass; most likely the same place all you other ideas come from. God, how much idiocy can you cram into a few hundred characters?

  • @theredrooter: A want to hear an atheist say that that is what he said (or thought) then, before I'll believe that you are doing anything more then spitting in the wind on that.

  • Thanks for posting these videos. Each earned 5 stars and a favorite rating.

  • I just stayed up way too late watching this. Concentrated awesomesauce. Thanks for the upload!

  • @Xyless985 aha I just did the exact same thing. Awesomesauce indeed!

  • haha same

  • fan-freaking-tastic! :-)

  • Thanks for uploading this!

  • My Pleasure

    TY for enjoying! 8D
