For a kid who was a pretty big fan of sumo at the time, this was more crushing than Douglas over Tyson.
I never cared much what happened to him after this.

Asaihifuji was one of my fave sumo rikishi, he was so skillful and should have been more successful than he was.

千秋楽本割の一番で１敗の旭富士が無敗の小錦に勝利し、優勝決定戦に。そしてその決定戦でも旭富士が小錦に下手出し投げで下して、見事旭富士の逆転優勝。
旭富士は横綱昇進後初の幕内優勝を果たしましたが、残念ながらこれが最後の優勝でもあったんですね。
