  • UNF*CKEN REAL! I've been listening to Sigur Ros for almost 10 years now and their music still hits me the EXACT same way it did when I was younger. That's a good band, that's good music, that's Sigur Ros

  • "your eyes on my phone"

  • Truth

  • love the music, hate the video

  • While we await for the new Sigur Rós album... just entertainment, check the band Höfn Falinn

  • I always thought nuclear explosions look peaceful

  • @284436 Great job! :)

  • Amazing song!

  • It's his own alien language. lrn 2 fan.

  • Icelandic is a made up language anyway so why does it matter if the lyrics mean nothing....

  • @Mikemugee lol. all languages are made up.

  • @seasbee Esperanto is made up Slovio is made up Na'vi is made up and there not REAL languages..... And from what i was told the people from iceland a LONG time ago used to speak English but made up there own language icelandic ( could be wrong but i dont care )

  • @Mikemugee define "real" language for me. do you realize that english, at some point, did not exist?

  • @seasbee I guess you're right but even if we didnt have spoken language we still have body language ;)

  • @Mikemugee Yeah, you're mistaken there

  • Anyone like to think that the lyrics mean nothing, these guys have been known to sing in syllables, aka gibberish

  • @ggolfer555 They sing in Icelandic most of the time. Some songs feature nonesense, but it's hardly gibberish. They combine sounds in the Icelandic tongue to produce vocal lines with added emotion. Basically they couldn't find words that fit the emotions perfectly, so they made them.

  • for me, the start's absolutely epic, then it gets kinda weird with the "orange juice/jews of life" thing.

  • boa musica... excelente melodia.

  • Almost reminds me of Margot and the nuclear so and so's . Mostly because of the vocalists voice and the clear and quiet sound of the song. I enjoi.

  • such angelic sounds. Such abominations for the background. Such is our sordid legacy. Such is the conflict within us.

  • Your eyes on my phone! Your eyes on my phone! Oh jews, oh jews, oh die!!

  • @IWantToUnderstandIt

    oh thats funny.fuck u man.

  • @adarlando It was a joke. Are you a jew? die.

  • @IWantToUnderstandIt

    oh,i know it was a joke,its just not funny.i shit on u.

  • @adarlando I gas you.

  • @IWantToUnderstandIt

why wont you just admit that you are a disgusting antisemetic trash and stop being a hypocrete by saying youre only joking?

  • @adarlando I have a jewish parent, don't call me anti-semitic you stupid idiot. Just don't reply to my comments if you don't like them and learn to write properly.

  • @IWantToUnderstandIt o

oh so youre so stupid youre a self loathing asshole i had no idea what a huge fuckface i was dealing with have a nice life

  • @adarlando "self loathing asshole" it was just a joke get over it. and gas yourself.

  • destructive beauty

  • I'm moving to Iceland, it's official.

  • I would say "you rise and i fall"

  • ma préférée !!!

  • orange juice , orange juice , orange juice

  • It's for a research purposes, to make life better for mankind in general..

We need to know how big the BOOOM is going to be so we know where to place one in the future?

*sigh*.. i hope mankind goes to hell 2012 for all the shit it produces, that includes people just treating each other with disrespect and verbal abuse as well as the people constantly putting up with war instead of figuring out the real solution to the wars that is.

Fuck you world, Fuck you bad people!

  • @VE3n0m Take your emotional outbursts somewhere else.

  • @IWantToUnderstandIt I don't understand what your problem is, but i'm quite sure i'm allowed to write whatever i want wherever i want. If you don't share my opinion that people produces shitty stuff then that's your loss really. Enjoy the internetz, it's full of trolls and "emotional" comments.

  • @VE3n0m ok. now stop wasting my time.

  • Don't worry, no doubt they'll be obsolete soon, replaced by something even more nightmarish.

  • Of course, our extensive burning of fossil fuels is likewise changing carbon isotope ratios, but more evenly and in a way that's easier to screen out.

  • <3

  • "You rise when I fall."

  • Here are some lyrics to this song I made about 4 years ago. I call it, "Orange Juice." Your eyes alone fall...rpt 2x your eyes oh noo. Your eyes on my phone rpt 2x Orange juice, orange juice, oh liar. Rpt Wooohooooohooo ooowhoooo. Your eyes on my phone rpt 2x orange juice, orange juice, oh lie, orange juice, orange juice, oh lie. You'll sigh why. Musical interlude...orange juice, orange juice, oh lie, orange juice, orange juice, oh lie, orange juice, orange juice, oh lie, etc. etc.

  • So are all of these explosions real? Who makes them? I mean I know about Hiroshima and Nagasaki and everything. But watching this video it feels like governments sets these things off all the time out in the oceans.

How common is this? Are they test-bombs we see?

  • @jockejocke1 These are almost all (actually, I think they all are) American nuclear weapons tests. Yes, we did a ton of them. No, we don't do them any more. The US has conducted 1054 nuclear tests and two nuclear attacks. Between the US and the Soviet Union (and to a lesser extent, others), our nuclear testing has been so significant that carbon dating objects from after the 1950s is not and will not be reliable for future societies; we've unevenly shifted the atmospheric ratios of carbon.

  • @KarenRei crazy, just crazy.

And you've got to wonder how much damage they do to the lifeforms in the oceans?

    Also to the planet.

  • This is just fucking beautiful!

  • i like to think Jonsi is an alien with a beautiful voice...

  • the album is "hvarf"

    and is great.....

  • Someone could tell me which album have this song?

  • @zeru321 Hvarf-Heim :)

  • I took a shit listening to this song, it made it more meaningful

  • @284436

"You rise on my fall" get it ?

  • @284436 I took a shit on your face... your face made my turd look disgusting!

  • @284436 eeew nasty lol XD

  • @284436 what? the shit or the song?

  • One of the best video's I've ever seen

  • I don't understand a word of what they're saying.. But this band has changed my perspective on music and just life in general.

  • This is a song that explodes inside your mind and kills every bad headache tissue :)

  • It seems like at first he says 'Your eyes are so numb' :P

  • Hooray for science! Splitting of the atom, is beautiful.

  • how many of you people can actually understand what they are saying

  • @thomasmturner how many of us actually want too prolly everybody but do we care what there saying prolly not O:

  • @thomasmturner Nobody. This song is not in an actual language.

  • @KarenRei ermmm.. aint it in Icelandic???

  • @bluelionsforever Not this song. About half of their music is, however.

  • its funny how the most horribly destructive thing in history is probably one of the most visually stunning things to look at.

  • ORANGE JUUUUUIICE OOOORRRRANNGGE OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR LIIIIME

  • who the hell are setting off bombs! Tell me, I wanna know...

  • @iatetheinternet1 America.

  • This song is pure awesome. The video is scary and sadly true to our nature

  • @tawari6 True to an "Americans" nature.

  • One of my dearest friends gave me a link for this song and i love it since. Now he's not between us anymore, but the song always makes me remember his face. May you rest in peace Kristian <3

    Beautiful and very touching song

  • (in the bus)... "your eyes on myyy.... phoooone!"

  • @pRage2t hahahahahahahahahahahahaha now that i've read that i can't stop hearing that in the song.

  • how stupid can a human being (especially Americans) that hurt the father and mother to experience the suffering!

  • I wish I could understand one word they are saying =(

  • @AmyLee2020 they are singing in a made up language call "hopelandic" the only person who could translate is the singer of the band. Jonsi

  • @tuffyterf "Little known" because it's about as close to reality as "The Japanese were 8 days from summoning the Kraken to sink the US fleet". The Japanese weren't even remotely close to atomic weaponry. They had a bioweapons program that they were hoping to use as a counter to the US, but even that was nowhere near a level where it could have been effective.

And, FYI, the Japanese and Chinese were enemies in WWII.

  • Majestic !!! No words.

  • your eyes on my fall.....

    or...

you rise on my fall.. fits better with the video too...

  • @gjdotte2 Lo mismo he dicho en otro comentario jaja!

  • Luigi: Mario what are you doing?

Mario: Come on Luigi look at that big mushroom enough for everyone to eat in the mushroom kingdom

Luigi: NO MARIO WAIT!!! That's not a mushroom

  • Sigur Ros大好きなんだけど…

i really hope atomic bomb victims will be never increased any more.

  • I have seen a number of these kinds of films. This is one of the better ones only because its maker used clear and obviously restored clips to make it with. Well done.

  • これわ こわいけど すばらしい。 ハ-フ だから ホンマ ニ 分かります。 母わ 日本人 なので,I really feel this deep down. Put my comments in Japanese because it better expresses my opinion. =)

  • First it sounds like "Your eyes on my phone" and then it's "ORANGE JUICE, ORANGE JUICE, ALL THE TIME!" Wheeee.

  • This song make me cry, are really really beaury!! <3

  • @wallmeroder it is him.. lol

  • Never heard of this group until someone recommend them to me a few days ago. Love the video and love the song. Good stuff....

  • this sounds kinda like jonsi

  • @wallmeroder that's because jonsi is the lead singer of Sigur Ros.

  • @wallmeroder It sounds like jónsi because he is the one singing the song.

  • AWSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOME!

  • @edsterling0: Comparing two things that have different out comes is like making an obviously wrong statement to look intelligent!!!!!11111

Virginity is a one time thing.

    Peace comes and goes.

Though depending on the girl she may be a "VIRGIN" many times.

  • Grande Sigur ros!

  • orange juice, orange juice, oooooh i like

  • i love sigur ros

why cant there be any good american bands

  • @jkvnstr3

try with "explosions in the sky"

  • @bigdiezel619 is right, this video is dumb.

  • seriously..Sigur Ros always makes me think of peace, calm, and tranquility...the Nukes for the video, complete opposite of what the music is...

  • This music is beautiful. But the music video isn't

  • So many bombs. It's making me go CRAZY!

  • whats beautiful about a mushroom cloud of death. Poor choice of visual interpretation of this emotionally compellin melody.

  • EEUU, CHINA Y RUSIA POSEEN LAS BOMBAS...ESTAN CREADAS PARA SER UTILIZADAS...QUE DEMENCIA HUMANA ES CONTAMINAR RADIACTIVAMENTE LA TIERRA...

  • ORANGE JUUUUUIICE OOOORRRRANNGGE JUUUUIICE OOOOOORRRANGE JUUUICE ALLLL THE TIME.

  • @ramjetross Thanks for ruining this song with laughter. I will forever hear this whenever I listen to this song.

  • @ramjetross LoL :)

  • Mi spirit cries when i listen sigur rós

  • PUTA QUE O PARIU! QUE SOM DE GÊNIO!!!!

  • This song always makes me see beautiful northern lights in timescape in my mind.. In my opinion, this song should be presented along with something as beautiful as northern lights. I guess its not a official vid, but tho, its powerful!

Sigur Rós is simply the greatest group of ARTISTS i've ever seen and heard in my so far short lifetime of 15 years. I'm aware of Andy Warhol/Rob Mapplethorpe and so on.. But Sigur Rós is way above them. This audio is art, people.

  • @NGC3370JT I like the cut of your jib. 15 years old? Awesome taste in music, in my opinion. Keep your ears open; music is beautiful.

  • "you rise and I fall"

    :(

  • I'd only be happy with a nuclear war if Sigur Ros was playing in the background whilst the bombs dropped

  • This track always stand me UP while im down

  • Y'know, I remember hearing this song on a bootleg 11 years ago, years and years before an official version was ever recorded. Probably a few thousand people in the entire world, at most, had ever heard it then, given that it had only been performed in public once and sigur ros hadn't even released agaetis byrjun and become well-known outside of iceland yet. was always my fave song of theirs. amazing that an official version has 1,000,000+ hits on youtube now.

  • This is most likely our fate. Don't believe me? Good for you - I wish I could not believe me as well.

  • The world is a better place with Sigurd Ros' music. Open your heart and soul (and ears) and you will be a better person for it.

  • so much beauty in destruction :)

  • Anybody else think debates in the comments section of Youtube videos are annoying as fuck?

SHUT UP AND ENJOY THE DAMN VIDEO.

  • @XOFrankieroXO Fuck you. Debates are the best asshole. Why don't you shut up and enjoy the video? Your probably too busy jerking off to Lady GaGa to find the time to silence yourself.

  • This video show incredible beauty in terms of music yet terrible destruction in terms of visuals. Now what does humanity spend trillions of $ on I wonder?

  • I wonder if Sigur ros would like this video...

  • oohhh tviuuuuuuu ooohhh tviuuuuuu ohh aallalaj!

  • What album is this song from, guys?

  • @MrVanderer its from a double cd Hvarf/Heim i have it and i can only tell u, u should buy it its amazing

  • @mynorthensoul Thanks mate :)

  • ... this... was... AWESOME!

  • "bombing for peace, is like fuck**ng for virginity"

  • @edsterling0 to what "bombing" are you referencing to? some situations do require violence to solve.

  • @nightslayer78 yes but only if it is necessary and when their is no other option.

  • @jericho447 of course everyone should go the "diplomatic route" but not if it is going on deaf ears and meanwhile people are dying.

  • Comment removed

  • @edsterling0

    more like rape for virginity

  • @edsterling0 Grats for taking someone elses quote "Zuzia" and posting it without giving them any recognition even 73 likes later no mention of it not being yours or the original publisher Good JOB douche

"And when you hear of wars, and rumors of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must and need be"

    Mark 13:7

  • @Foece24 thanks for telling me who said this,i didn´t know who said it i just read it on a riot sign pictures, and i did not know this had so many likes, there is no notice for youtube users when someone likes your comment, this is no facebook, and thabk you again, i hope you have great day.

  • @edsterling0 Bombing for peace worked on Ending WW2. So yes, it works. Get over it you hippie.

  • @gloinstrong maybe it ended the WW2 but in those places there are still living and born persons with side effects of the bombing, so i hope you never have to live those kind of malformations. and i am no hippie, but thank you for your comment

  • @gloinstrong Read the "Strategic Bombing Survey (Pacific War)" performed by the United States Air Force after WWII. They determined that Japan would have surrendered not long after then with or without the atomic bombs; the bombs just moved the date up a few months. The Japanese political leadership was already splintering and had been desperately trying to find a way out of the war.

  • @gloinstrong At least bother to read history

  • @edsterling0 if ya want peace prepare for war

  • @edsterling0 Its easy to get a popular comment by saying this but the real world dont work like that...

  • @SjamanFunk so? what's your point, this is not my quote, i read it in a riot sign cartel carried by a woman, that is because i used the " __" things. truth is nuclear and atomic power should never be used, "Victory attained by violence is tantamount to a defeat, for it is momentary." -Mahatma Ghandi.

  • @edsterling0 ok..i just ment that its naive to believe that all conflicts can be solved by dialogue and peace talks....like someone wrote in a another comment here, If u want peace, prepear for war.. much truth in that..sadly enough...soon will Iran have the big bomb...try peace talking with those guys.....

  • @SjamanFunk yes ok, lets use bombs like that guy in norway killlng

  • @edsterling0 thats a pretty dumb aversion...

  • @SjamanFunk I know this was between you and someone else, but I'll pick up where his argument broke down... the need for violence lies in the objectives of the opposing parties. I think the issue is that often violent war erupts despite it being possible to obtain peace through peaceful measures. I do agree with the principle that sometimes war is necessary (WWII) but some are simply not and we fall back on it far too much as superpowers. How can we expect Iran not to act like we have?

  • @SjamanFunk Totally agreed. No amount of reasoning or diplomacy will work.

  • @edsterling0

To survive it is often necessary to fight and to fight you have to dirty yourself.-

George Orwell ....sometimes you must fight for whats right

  • When they say the explosion, those in the plains dropping them cheered. What they did to Japan...all those innocent men, woman and children...I don't care if they 'helped' us win the war against Germany, I will never forgive america for doing that...

  • @DarkeLandsTOTW Me too! Especially after I know now about Japanese and their culture. But you know the firebombing of Okinawa, Tokyo and others killed many more that both bombs combined. And of course since all the men where fighting elsewhere that left mostly women and children and elderly taking the brunt. Yeah I especially am not proud of American history at that time. I'm glad I'm not American.

  • @DarkeLandsTOTW I'm an American, and I think it was unforgiveable, too. When you read the history, there was a huge split in the US government over how to use the bombs. Almost all of the scientists making them, plus the undersecretary of the navy, and several other high ranking figures, wanted the bombs simply to be used as a demonstration. The army, however, wanted to cause as much devastation as possible; they even ruled out places that they themselves considered better military (more)

  • @DarkeLandsTOTW (cont'd)...targets because they wouldn't be visible enough or kill enough. Truman himself seems really conflicted, and at times, confused. He wrote in his diary that it would be reprehensible and make us like the Japanese if our weapons were used in a way that killed innocent women and children. Yet he then authorized the use against Hiroshima and Nagasaki. But then in his first speech afterward, he said we bombed "Hiroshoma, a military base," as if he didnt know it was a city.

  • @KarenRei Bombing in any sense is regrettable, but surely you recognize that without those bombs, Japan would have continued to attack us, and we would have sent ground invasions and more air raids that would have completely destroyed Japan.

  • @drjx93 This notion originated as propaganda pushed as a post-facto justification of the bombing. The reality at the time, as known and widely discussed by US government officials, was that Japan was desperately seeking an exit from the battlefield. The US was aware of an ongoing power struggle within the Japanese government, and the Japanese government had already begun (indirectly) sending out feelers for conditional surrender. Bombs or not, the days of the Pacific theatre were numbered.

  • @drjx93 (cont'd) Within the US government, mind you, the decision was never "to bomb or not to bomb". It was "how to use the bombs". One faction wanted the bombs to be used as a *demonstration*. They wanted to let the Japanese know that they were about to witness something incredible, where and when, and deploy it. Another faction wanted to use the bombs, but only against military assets. The most hawkish faction, however, wanted to use them for "shock and awe".

  • @drjx93 (cont'd 2) The Undersec. of the Navy, Ralph Bard, was the most notable "Demonstration" advocate. He had the backing of most bomb scientists. In a vote, 2/3rds of the scientists wanted the US to bomb either a military objective or an uninhabited island. Of the remaining third, half wanted the US not to bomb anything. Only 1/6th of the scientists supported attacking cities. Bard's main foe was Stimson, the Secretary of War and Truman confidant.

  • @drjx93 (cont'd 3) Stimson openly admitted that this wasn't just about Japan; he stated that he hoped a horrifying bombing would let us "get less barbarous relations with the Russians." Ultimately, Stimson's side got the go-ahead. The targeting committee then specifically ruled out areas which didn't have enough civilians in visible enough locations.

After the war, the military's Strategic Bombing Survey (google it) concluded that the atomic bombings were completely unnecessary to end the war.

  • @KarenRei Well, you seem to be well voiced in this matter. xD. I was not aware that they were desperately seeking a way out. It didn't seem that way at all when we discussed the atomic bombings in class, either. I suppose i'll have to look more into the issue.

  • @drjx93 if you want to learn about the effects of the bombs we dropped "White Light, Black Rain" is a great documentary done by the Japanese. And the whole thing is on you tube. /watch?v=PqEcJZ43Tik

  • 65 people accidentelty hit the nuclear red bottom

  • <3

  • I can't recall ever experiencing a thesis (music) and it's antithesis (video) in such a powerful fashion as this, just amazing, bravo.

  • awesome looks so cool but is . the total destruction of the human race

  • look up "while the city sleeps - back when we knew", same kind of big soundscapes and grand crescendos.

  • Sigur Rós makes pure creative, positive energy, why represent it with such destructive energy, with one of the very worst achievements of mankind?

    It's the first time I "don't like" a Sigur Rós video :(

  • great combination of audio and visuals, really enjoyed it.
