  • I was never really into Liefeld's books, but I knew he always came across as just laid back and really nice, friendly guy. The people who hated (and continue to hate) on him just bewilder me.

And yeah, LOL at Todd at the end. I kept waiting for Rob to notice. Haha!!!

  • Thank christ for these 7 guys. If not comics would still be stuck in the comics code era.

  • Why is he orange?

  • Image Comics in the first several years of its launch was just that - just image. It was all cool artwork but no real storylines or characters and issues that took months to get out to the point you no longer cared. Youngblood was so damn bad!

  • I cant Imagine how pissed off Rob was when he went to see X-men origins and saw Barakpool.

  • Such a fucking douche...... He should have said... "I wish i could draw!"

  • @harveydents ,,,,,, NO Rob is not the greatest artist who ever walked the earth. But Rob was a part of something that very few people can claim. He and the other Image guys changed the industry . I think a lot of the 'hate .that comes from people who are just plain jealous. .those 'drawing' that piss so many people off SOLD millions so who's the idiot Rob for drawing that way or the people who ..rob is the best...one of..the best...,

  • @phoenixondope I agree! Rob Liefeld is the best...bar none!

  • I wonder what his thoughts on Linkara are?

  • This man needs to just, shit!!!!

  • I am by no means a fan of his art but I will say one thing........................... he gets paid do what he does - 80% of his detractors and "haterz" probably don't.

  • Lol! the feet at 0"39 are hillarious

  • "Changed the course of comics"...What Image did was make comics unobtainable for kids. With cover prices rising from 2.50 to 4.50 over that period, what kid would spend his or her money on a few comics? Image helped destroy the industry along with all of the other pan flashes ie Defiant, Valliant, Malibu, Topps, Etc... I hate what these guys collectively did to the industry. It's just starting to make a comeback in the past 5 years.

  • Rob Liefeld, you will NEVER NOT be popular!

  • how can you hate him he made deadpool and cable without him the two greatest hero's wouldn't be here

  • That haircut is for fucking guys.

  • Worst. Comic Book Artist. Ever

  • man you know what i like rob liefiled's work

  • I never understood the hate this guy gets. While I never followed his comics (I was more into the stuff by McFarlane and Valentino), my friend was a fan and I'd see them from time to time, but there were and still is far worse out there than a Rob Liefeld comic.

  • @MikeAM78 it's all about, the crap he was asking Lee for....he ....as any young star, wanted more.....So he got carried out, that's why, read the wiki about liefeld ,and todd on lee

  • i'm pretty sure that this "movement" he keeps talking about is the dark age of comics...you almost destoryed the market, glad your happy about that

  • And now the comics readership is six sevenths of its size! Damn you Image comics and artists-who-were-never-writers-to-begin-with!

  • @CosmoShidan

And that's Image's fault how? People were more excited about comics in the 90s than they are now because today's comics mainstream is afraid to try new things, not because of the speculator bust. Most of that stuff did suck and has aged really poorly, but clearly they were doing something right.

  • @areallystupidguy I meant that as a joke! Although Image did well in terms of sales, some of the stuff I hear about from Linkara turns out is crap, and Marvel was one of the culprits the downsizing, such as reprinting old story-lines with new covers instead of making new ones. Image today makes some good stuff like A Distant Soil and Oubergeist.

  • @CosmoShidan Oh ha. Never mind then :p

  • Last I heard he`s doing the Bible!

  • Rob Liefeld, cant stop, wont stop! NEVER STOP!! Rob Liefeld!!!!!!!!!!

  • Exploit eats genuine eats exploit eats genuine eats exploit eats genuine eats exploit eats genuine.

  • Rob Liefeld is the Uwe Boll of Comics!

  • LOL McFarlane in the background.

  • Rob is awesome, hes busier than ever, his art has come a long way, if you don't believe me check out Image United, it rocks!!!

  • I think Rob Liefeld draws really well.

  • say what you want, but Rob Liefeld put his work in with both Marvel and Image. unlike the haters here who don't even have a name for themselves in any business, Rob did his thing period. can't hate on him.

  • his art sucks

  • @92680BOYD

Yeah, he got his foot in the door with Hawk and Dove...and by blatantly plagiarizing art from other artists to get those books out on time. I don't hate Rob, but I don't appreciate him either. Hawk and Dove still stands as his best work ever...even if he did copy and trace it from other arists.

  • @92680BOYD sure i can...its a free country and he sucksssssssss sooooooooo bad..... a pimple on the world of comic books

  • I don't like his use of the word "exploit".

  • His writing sucks! So says Linkara!

  • His art is awsome and he is awsome. Sorry haters

  • Hahahaha, whaaaaat? I don't believe you. I don't believe that you're being truthful.

  • at least we can give him credit for creating Deadpool.

LOL at Todd behind him !

  • HE SUX

  • What if he got together with Garth Ennis?

  • then it would be very violent

  • Or it would be "Extreme!"

  • do u watch linkara or something

  • Yes. Linkara's awesome!

  • you all need to understand he is a fucking artist for comics. comics are not real if he wants to draw union with a shit load of muscles let him comics=fantasy

  • Bowel movement?

  • The Ed Wood of comics.

  • Great title for one of the contributors to the dark age of comics.

  • I heard he's not that bad, in a sense that he's okay with portions and shading.

  • Maybe he should buy manikin of male and female bodies to get the anatomy right.

  • @CosmoShidan haha, very nice

  • dude hes not. let me explain,he came from a working class background he was self taught did everything himself and ended up a millionaire with his comics,he may not be as good as jim lee who was from an upper class background had all the best teachers went to an ivy league college where he studied art. while studying psychology bob ross was his teacher for christ sake. rob is self made and deserves respect.

  • No need to take it seriously! I was being sarcastic!

I did say that he's okay with shades and portions. Although he's not a great writer. Check out atop the fourth wall's reviews on Lifeld's earlier works.

  • he sucks balls at writing but i just think deserves credit. all the top artist today like jim lee were rich as fuck and had the money to get taught. do you know who bob ross is??

  • Comment removed

  • Nope. Never heard of him. Dave Sim deserves credit for pioneering the self-publishing buisness.

  • Didn't he make millions? Are you saying that his art justifiably sucks because he couldn't afford art classes?

He still hasn't learned how to compose a panel, or draw the human figure. His art is embarrassing, and I haven't seen him do anything else well.

  • no what im saying is jim lee is better cos he had a lot of awsome teachers, hes rich because in the 90s his art was awsome,ut unlike every other artists he aint got better so it aint good now.

  • I always thought that it was curious that this dude's taste reflected his personal decisions. He gave Pat Lee a chance to break through. Later Pat lee created Dreamwave comics. And he started off with great ideas but in the long run he didn't pay his artist and in the end filed bankruptcy, saving his ass from paying the money he owed. He even got to save his porche'. Rob was accused at image for dipping his hands in image finances and buying shit for himself. There is a reason why he is notliked

  • I don't get why people are so obsessed with hating this guy. If you don't like his work, just don't read it. Leave it on the rack and move on. End of story. There's artists I don't care for but I don't spend my energy trashing them. Bashing him on some internet blog isn't really gonna make them go away anyway.

  • I think this guy hasn't improved his craft because he's traced everything for the past ten years, take a look at his con sketches and yikes. there are artists who create ie : Eric Powell and those who imitate, rip-off= Rob Liefeld

  • You've commented on just about every Liefeld video out there...lol. Either you're secretly in love with him, or you got some issues of your own you need to sort out dude.

Seriously brother, there's really no need to keep bashing someone after 20 years. Think about it. It's kind of ridiculous. Hell even I moved on.

Negative energy is never a good thing.

  • The Uwe Boll of comics.

  • Did he just claim he co-created Gambit and Venom?

  • When are people going to understand, he is hated for a reason other then his drawing skills. Claiming that he created Venom and Gambit is one of these reasons, he just can't see why people hate him. Watch your interview Rob, get a better idea why.

  • I am one of those people.

  • Get your facts straight friend. Rob never claimed he created those. He literally said "Jim Lee = Gambit". You eliminated Jim Lee through your hate for this guy.

Here's a word of advise from someone who's making a living in comics and not just sitting behind a monitor trashing people i don know.

Build your own empire, rock it out as much as you can for the love of what you love to do. Don't waste your time in hate. Whatever Rob did as a kid 20 years ago that struck hate, is in the past. MOVE ON.

  • i don't think he was claiming all the credit for those creations, he was just pointing out the creations that these guys contributed to marvel before image that are just starting to make it into the marvel movies over the last 2 years...

  • No. He said "Jim Lee Gambit" He was being general about these characters as Image founder creators. God... relax will you? lol..

  • Glad to see Rob has matured since Image first started. I believe being a family man made him see that there is more in life than just himself.

  • Ha!

  • @orgorg7 Rob Liefeld's more mature than Bat-Wacko-Timm.

    -R78

  • @Rodimus78 Bruce Timm?

  • @HDibbles Bruce W. Timm: Mature Artist (1982-1996) Bat-Wacko-Timm: Immature Artist (1997-Present)

  • Liefield's art is good, it really was his story direction and his 'extreme'-ness that didn't carry him like spawn did Todd.

  • Liefield is what the younger ppl tend to like. I know i did. But when you step back and look at it, his art was just too over the top. Cable always looked silly as hell to me with all those damm pouches and riddiculously huge wpns. Love how he draws hair though, its unique. I respect him though b/c he has his own style. It can be hard to look at though sometimes.

  • I wanna see him drawn a Manga or Anime his style. XD

  • Meanwhile he's making a living doing what he loves while you've contributed nothing to anything.

    Liefeld - 2

    You- 0

    you lost.

  • haha yeah you know me well. Too bad you really don't know shit.

  • tihs wonk t'nod yllaer uoy dab ooT .llew em wonk uoy haey ahah.

    +D

  • You blow hard

  • Why should Liefeld make this for a living when he's always telling everybody that he made enough money to have a good life. He doen't need to do anything for a living. But maybe comics is all he can do so he does come back to it so often. His lateness and non-evolving drawing style should be a good sign that he doesn't take it too seriously. I won't deny that his work appeals to masses of fans. To me his work is aesthetically ridiculous and unentertaining.

  • And don't ask me what I contributed to the comics world as this doesn't matter at this place here. Get your entertainment from Rob Liefeld while I get my entertainment from the comments of the Liefeld-art bashers.

  • you have horrible taste in comics, my god man.

  • All the characters he ever drew have a "Morgan Fairchild" nose.

Anyway, Wow after years of not seen him in person, his cheekbones have finally eaten his face, wow!

  • I remember this guy and Todd McFarlane had a big falling out. Anybody remember what happened exactly? I remember going to SDCC one year and stood in line to have Rob Liefeld sign some books. He didn't say a word or even looked at me. Just signed my books and went on to the next guy's books. Seemed like a jerk. All the other Image guys were pretty cool.

  • i saw him once he wsnt like tht to me

  • lol Todd McFarlane in the background

  • He blows. He never made 1 cent from me.

  • im not a fan of his, but he has done some great stuff and thats good enugh for me. i still remember the drawing of captin america with the big chest. lol but he didnt let that get him down and i respect that

  • Never was a fan and I always thought his grasp of anatomy was a joke.

  • And somehow I just could never get past Captain America having cleavage.

  • I got sick of this guy's work after awhile. It was refreshing at first, but after I saw the work of guy's like Jim Lee, Ed Benes, J. Scott Campbell, Chris Bachalo and others to name a few, his characters looked too over-proportioned, and he couldn't draw weapons and vehicles that looked cool.

  • you're too right man!!!

  • take nothing away from him though

  • lol No one's going to comment on Toddy Mc behind Rob making crazy faces. Funny. A lighter side to the guy that you rarely ever see. Good to see these old friends have buried the hatchet on all those old fights.

  • I've always been a major fan of Rob since I saw his work on X-force years ago. I just love his work, style and characters.

  • u gt a thummbs down for ur comment,why

  • People talk a lot of crap about him. Bottom line is Liefeld can STILL go to the big compainies and pitch an idea, and there's a good chance it'll get made...mind you, it's not going to be a long running title, but he still gets work, and still has some pull. So the guy is doing something right. And no I'm not a Liefeld mark.

  • I really hate people that have nothing better to do than "hate that guy"

    Grow the hell up.

  • I agree with you man

  • me too

  • It's not as simple as that... Were you a comic fan 20 years ago?

  • Yup. I sure was. The first Liefeld comic I ever bought was 1989's "What If....Wolverine was an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D"?

    Brilliant. I was friggin hooked.

  • @Venkman007 sorry. if you hated someones art from he first time you saw their art it kind of sticks with you. I still hate his lazy incompetent art. I mean if you put 27 belts on a character and in the next panel only 7??? just stop it!!

  • I really hate that guy.
