  • "Santa Claus is Back In Town" was originally the opening track of Elvis' Christmas Album released in 1957. That album was no. 1 for 4 weeks on Billboard and was certified 3x Platinum by the RIAA. The 1970 Camden, the 1975 Pickwick, and later RCA and Essex rereleases of that album sold 10 million copies. The RIAA has certified the rereleased Elvis' Christmas Album as Diamond with sales of over 10 million. "Santa Claus is Back in Town" was an original song from that album and was also on an EP.

  • The next line of this is Hang up your pretty stockings, turn out the lights, Santa Claus is coming down your chimney tonight. Anyone else think this is a sexual reference much? lol. Might as well spell coming cumming.

  • @theboneclover Now you know why people feared Elvis and pooped their pants over him. Elvis was dangerous. He was the real deal. And "Santa Claus is Back in Town" was all sexual innuendo and swagger. Elvis invented swagger. And this is Christmas swag at its best. "I ain't got no reindeer, no sack on my back, You gonna see me comin', in my black Cadillac." Irving Berlin pooped his pants. Rock and roll swag. And now the Elvis Christmas album is Diamond certified with sales of over 10 million.

  • "If you dont behave your god damn self" LOL King Elvis forever!

  • I don't know what this shit is all about Elvis being stoned. I can say that most of the Americans do drugs and smoke weed daily. He may have being taking drugs but not the kind the street drug addicts take. He was taking barbiturates and other uppers and downers to deal with the pressure to be number 1 all the time and perform all the live concerts. He was giving himself away for the people you shmucks!

  • @890slay slurred speech,The expression on the guitars players face, that hand! have you never seen someone high!?

  • @django60617 Yes, and I don't say Elvis wasn't taking drugs. I've advanced my arguments in my previous comment, so read it again if you wish because I don't want to repeat myself.

  • @django60617 YOU-ARE-CRAZY! You obviously never saw him in person or watched him goofing around with the band. He did it ALL THE TIME. HE HAD FUN. You make yourself look dumb with that statement. Watch a little more ELVIS before sticking foot in mouth.

  • @keetonplace did you send this to everyone or am i just as special as you.

  • Dere Santa, plese bring me som quaaludes annd valium, seckonal and codeine, please.

    Love, Elvus P

  • Holy crap. Nothing says Christmas like an incoherent Elvis.

  • Please watch this old guy cover this tune. No one can sing it like Elvis, but I did my best. Happy Holidays and happy new year.

  • MaMa used to see him in Memphis and go,"THATS a PURDY man!!" hahahahaha

  • this is the blues. it's Elvis w/o the stupid cape and shit being....himself.

  • Here's a comment not involving drugs: Hey, its James Burton!!

  • Leiber and Stoller were again in the studio for the recording of Elvis' Christmas Album. Toward the end of the session, they wrote a song on the spot at Presley's request: "Santa Claus Is Back In Town", an innuendo-laden blues.[128] The holiday release stretched Presley's string of number one albums to four and would eventually become the best selling Christmas album of all time

  • the 2 top rated comments... jesus like.. first off.. he probably was stoned. he did it a lot. and second off, i WISH i was as stoned as he was.

  • The musicians in the background look real serious :/

  • @MulderDownunder Youre clearly uneducated on the subject, best you just stop posting about it.

  • From one stoner to another,

    yeah, EP was indeed stoned!

    LONG LIVE THE KING!

  • hey, Elvis was on pilz and he could still sing....lay off

  • I like about anything by EP , this is interesting but nothing like his original in 1957- best ever Christmas Rocker

  • ***** Super col video *****

  • This was just EP being EP while practicing. While singing the blues, this was very typical of his actions. Insofar as taking drugs, one would be hard pressed to find evidence to the contrary, but to go as far as accusing him of being 'stoned', that's really not the case here.

  • The King is taking care of business. Thanks for posting this!

  • God rest his soul. No one even comes close. Not even MJ.

  • @MulderDownunder Times were a lot different back then. If a doctor told you to take something you TOOK it. No one really knew that drugs were going to be that harmful like we do now. And just because he was a 'junkie' or did drugs doesn't make him a prick. Did he do bad things? Yeah but did he do good things? Yeah.

  • @MulderDownunder It's not documented anywhere that he was stoned during this. Let me ask you this...were you there??? NO YOU WEREN'T!!! I have worked with many of his band members and close friends who have ALL said he was on top of his game during the making of this movie. Most of the musicians were new to the Elvis show and weren't fans until they started working for him in '69. You must not know anything about the delta blues at all.

  • @tnflash1973 If you did know anything about the blues you'd understand why he's singing this song in this style. It's really funny how people will criticize over something they know absolutely nothing about. Do us all a favor, sit back, enjoy the music, and shut the hell up because we don't want to hear it!!!

  • elvis was such a drug addict

  • @MulderDownunder BULLSHIT! STFU ASSHOLE ! YOU DON"T know what the FUCK you are talking about you friggin' retarded IDIOT IMBECILE Dumbfuck !

  • @BearStar1 Did you go to Oxford or Cambridge?

  • so what if he was stoned, i bet he had the money to get the real good stuff, elvis is so badass, he can do or be whatever the hell he wants!

  • Anybody who needs a lyrics sheet for a blues song has to be wasted lol.

  • Stoned from drugs? :O The people who say: Elvis is stoned.. Please do your homework first and shut up. Elvis isn't and wasn't stoned during this documentary. This is just simply the way to sing this song with passion! Please see other artists. I have also spoken with James Burton and Glen D. Hardin about a few movies/documentaries and they told me that Elvis never took drugs or was stoned in recordings. This man sings with passion and had his own style! Please give the King respect.

  • No they weren't looking at him like WTF. They were actually all laughing with him. I worked with one of the major figures in his band and also a member of the Memphis Mafia so I've heard the stories firsthand from people that were there. They were cutting up and having fun.

  • HIS BAND MEMBERS LOOKING AT HIM LIKE WTF LOL THIS VERSION SUCKS!! LOL IM A ELVIS FAN TOO!!

  • Cute...love it.

    Leila....

  • elvis puro blues...

  • To the idiots that are saying Elvis is stoned, get a damn life!!!LOL You must not know anything about the delta blues or the feel of it when sung or played. Do us all a favor, find a tall cliff away from people or animals, and jump off of it!!!!

  • @tnflash1973 this has got to be one of the BEST layed back down home in your face versions of this. Wish it was a lot longer. Thank you for posting this.

  • @tnflash1973 BUT HE WAS STONED TOWARDS THE END!! LMAO

  • @tnflash1973 PREACH! That is Delta Blues, plain, pure and simple...

  • @tnflash1973

    Tell them!!! yeah!!

  • The version in the 50s its bether then this, but his voice its bether here.

  • Does it really matter who was allegedly stoned? Elvis is and will always be, "THE KING". Thank you for posting this video, I love it.

  • The king, baby!

  • I don't know but one thing I know He was not as stoned as you are...
