If you have the phone unlocked by a proper shop then yes it will still work, calls etc. The internet access may be a different case though. Best too ask a more qualified person I'm afraid.

@ramzzeful if its unlocked, put in your sim card and away you go. if its a hiptop, you should (expensively) be able to go on the internet. if its a sidekick (american version) then you have to do something to unlock it. im not sure how you do it but the end result is just phone and txt. no internet.

If it's already unlocked then you should be able to just put your sim in & go. However I live in the UK so I'm speaking from my past experience. If it doesn't work then go into a proper shop & ask. But it should work without problem.

@TEELEESHxTRASH are you on the plan? if not thatd be why... it needs backdoor access to save data. its always connected to the internet cause its always talking to the towers. sending info so that if it crashes or turns off, it remembers everything.

if you are on the plan and look after it, its a fantastic phone.

i know lots of people have trouble with theirs, but ive never had a problem at all. as long as you take care of it, it isnt a phone you should drop all the time. i think thats where a lot of people are having thier problems, lack of care. i personaly think that this is a great phone.

there is a little rubber stopper you can pop out to put earphones on on the top right of the phone, and yes, as long as you have a memory card u can ut photos on it.

On the phone in aussie its pretty cheep for a good phone you can only do a plan $80.. MSN, GOOGLE, MYSPACE, HOMEPAGES is all frree you can get backrounds and games for free but you cant view youtube and crap

Maybe I have an odd question...is it possible to..I don't know how to translate that properly...to switch the phone to silent? I mean that there is no sound when you receive an SMS etc. I'm just wondering because in nearly every sidekick slide review is a very annoying sound when the screen slides up.

there is silent, there is viabrate, and obviously general, and loud. you can even change them so that even if the phone is on loud, that sliding it up wont make a noise.

the sidekick and the hiptop are exactly the same, they are made by the same people and have the same insides. the ONLY difference is the name. when tmobile bought into dangers hiptops, they decided to rename it. the original name that the makers of the phone called it was HIPTOP.

so, a hiptop is not a 'cracked out version' of a sidekick, a sidekick is a renamed version of a hiptop.

as for ebay, make sure that its a HIPTOP and not a sidekick, sidekicks wont work in australia even though they are exactly the same. if you buy it off ebay, yes the internet should work, but i would defiantly ask more people than just me.

and you can set songs to ringtones, but you have to record it first, there is another way to get a real song to work, but you need another phone that can send music via mms.

I'm meant to be getting a hiptop in a couple of days, and i've been reviewing it a lot, do you think it is REALLY worth it.

Keep in mind though I went through 90 dollars of credit a month, never called anyone. Is it really really worth it, I live in Australia just to tell you, so I'll be paying about 53$ a month, because I don't have 560 to spend all in one go.
