  • AND TO THINK THEY WERE PROBABLY PAID PEANUTS AT THE TIME FOR WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR WORLD TELLICAST EVENT ! AMAZING !

  • I still have the newspaper clippings from that fall. That's how I got interested in the Wallendas. I later

met Karl, Herman, and Gunther when they spent several summers at a nearby resort.

  • Jeesh, and I get dizzy on a step stool. Are they Mexican? Look like they could be.I had a professor from Puebla named Wallenda.

  • Is there any video of the Jan. 30, 1962 fall? Would love to see it.

  • and what is it you actually do working with the wallendas.

  • wow. i feel very proud to be able to say that i work with the most recent generation of wallendas. They are still very amazing. :)

  • Oops...I didn't realize that my nephew was signed on (onfire260). My post below is from blclark5@charter.net...Sorry...Betty

  • My family and I were in Detroit that night. I remember seeing the front man kind of buckle at the knees. The whole pyramid went down. The music stopped, the crowd watched in total horror and silence as the bodies fell with a sickening thud. My Mom tried to cover the eyes of my sisters (I was 13, my sisters were 8 and 3 at the time). Some performers were holding onto the wire. Then they fell, too. We never went to another circus. The sights and sounds that night are still with me. Betty

  • What! No brain matter and intestines?

  • NOT a family business for the weak of heart!

Karl died in a fall when he was 73 years old!.....that's tempting fate after several had already died in falls!

  • u got to be flexable and have some superman balls for this.

  • they have alot guts. one-thousand percent concentration and balance also.

By the way, does anyone know how far up they are.

  • I'm almost positive the its not Re(Aurelia) on the top.

  • I was there at the Shrine Circus in Detroit the night the Wallendas fell! I'll never forget it! I was 7 years old then.

  • What can you tell us about that night. What was the crowd reaction during and after the fall. I read that the show went on as soon as the accident scene was cleared.

  • I remember looking directly at the pyramid, and it started collapsing. I remember seeing people trying to grab the wire as they fell, and then people hitting the ground and bouncing. People screaming. The clowns ran out to distract us. I ran down to the overhang for the tunnel, so I could see what was up, and they carried the injured people out on stretchers, right under me! One man was very bloody and he was laying on his back and I remember looking him right in the eye as he went under me.

  • lol, nice view at 3:32, jk but seriously this is amazing

  • amazing quality for such an old video

  • Actually this video is from a few years ago. The 1962 accident happened in Detroit.

  • Is that Rietta Wallenda at the top ?

  • It's either her or Aurelia

  • This made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up! What a feat!

  • nice
