  • nice vid, great detail is the red victorinox logo on the swiss tool a sticker?

also which do you prefer a swiss champ or a swiss tool x?

  • Great review, love Victorinox. Too many choices though man. Need an upgrade from my broken bladed "Hiker". Considered the "Fieldmaster", then "Craftsman", and now this "Swisstool". Only thing missing I think from the swisstool range are the tweezers; undervalued!

  • Awesome review!

  • the file on the squirt ps4 end is a chisle

  • Nickthedane1

Same. I would really like to see what he thinks of the surge

  • Hey was just wondering why does Nutnfancy don´t have The Leatherman Surge I would love to see him do a rewiew on that.

  • It's not $60 anymore. Try around $80 +

Same with the spirit models. Lame :(

  • I bought it and i am more than content. It's a fantastic tool.

  • i have it and use it daily and LOVE IT

  • Nutnfancy, can you please do a review on either the New Sog Powerlock or the SOg powerassist. (preferably the power assist)

  • I just received a Swisstool in black oxide from Amazon and am a little disappointed.

Did your Swisstools come with play in the pliers out of the box? Mine has about

a millimeter of play at the tip of the pliers. 8(

Also, the finish is part shiny and part matte, almost like they pieced it together with parts

    laying around.

  • nice vid. Ordered one last week cant wait for it to come in.

  • Hey Nut'n, I think you sjould check out the MUT...A tactical dude like yourself would love it!!!

  • @Heysusable He's not sponsered by Leatherman or anyone else, for that matter. -- Veri (Nutn's sister)

  • @Heysusable Odball: Get outa here with them negative waves!!!

  • good review nutnfancy :D

  • It'd be nice if they put an extra slot on the sheaths of MT's for a sharpening stone, and the stone of course.

  • @TyrantsAREhere also, if you could demonstrate the bend of the regular knife blade would be very informative; I know you mentioned it's soft metal. Because you might use the blade for puncturing: animal, self defense, etc. and you would want it to have the backbone to go through. Best reviews !

  • Awesome review - as always! My SwissTool has never failed on me! Very pleased with it, considering how bad i treat it... Greetings from Switzerland!

  • Great review. I'm thinking about getting a SwissTool for the camping trip this summer.

  • Good review, Nutn; just got my SwissTool in the mail today. Very nice MT.

    God bless.

  • Man this must be the best review you have done nutn`

  • It's too bad the tard comments stay on top.

  • @colwild

    lol

  • Now that's a review!

  • Someone stole my Swisstool RS so i get back on amazon where i bought it a few years ago for 50ish dollars... its up to 90 dollars, so instead i will attempt to find a used one for around 50, mine was years old and i carried it religiously every day and it was in 110% shape so i think with a good picture to make sure nothing broken used is the way to go for this tool now

  • Would you recommend the Swisstool RS or the Spirit S?

What is your favorite as one has a scissors but not the file and vice versa. For EDC, Work, HIKING, survival needs? Which would be your choice?

    Thanks

  • I had cut some really heavy gage wire with my Leatherman Charge ALX MT and got some looseness in the handles and notching in the pliar head. I had also broken off the eyeglass screwdriver, and sent it in. In a week I had a brand new MT in my hand, ready for duty. Leatherman's warranty is outstanding, don't be afraid to send in your multitool.

  • Got this tool 2nd hand from my father, he used and abused it. Both blades were ground to dead and the wire cutter was broken anyways still usefull. I found out about the Victorinox repair service and was offered to send it in for repair. Not even that they replaced the blades and all of the other tools except for the handles... they also did it for free. Even more: I shipped it to the German subsidiary and they took care of all the customs issues to Switzerland. Awesome!

  • rounded edge will make the ruler useless.. and thats one of the main reason i baught the seiss tool.. full 23cm 9inch ruler.. btw i am in construction.

  • lol i thought the same thing when trying to remember which side the rescue blade was one.. great tip and great review overall! thanks!

  • Fine example of a cirque in the beginning of the vid-where was that filmed?

  • Got the RS for christmas, I wanted the X but the RS was my 2nd choice

  • Just wondering. Can you use the leatherman removable bit driver ( Used on the fuse and blast) onto the Phillips Screwdriver on the swisstool

  • Great review man. I am the proud owner of a Victorinox Spirit X and a Leatherman Wave. Both are great tools, but I prefer my Spirit. If only the serrated blade was pointed like a Tanto!! That would be realy nice. And they should consider finding a spot for tweezers.

  • Been considering buying one of these for a while, think i've definately been won over. Shame they're quite expensive here in England though :(

  • I got my Victorinox SwissTool for $20 at my local pawnshop. I thought the price was such a steal I couldn't pass it up, and It was around my birthday, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME lol. =)

  • @grantman234533

I managed to get one for $9. How can I not love it? Funny thing is, at the time I didn't even know what a Swisstool was. I did already have a bunch of Vic SAKs, so I wasn't about to turn it down. :)

  • I prefer clumping, but it's not a big deal. I've never thought of buying a Victorinox before. I generally avoid foreign-owned weapons/tools makers for practical and patriotic reasons, but this multitool does look mighty nice.

  • @purzheen true, but Leatherman supports socialism

  • @KalConduitman How does Leatherman support socialism?!?

  • @purzheen Tim Leatherman, signed a Bill that included a proposal to ban firearms, there is a whole article on it

  • I'm a big fan dude, but unfolding the pliers isn't too much movement, but pushing down the other tools is? I mean the major blades can usually still be extracted individually. Just found that to be a little self contradictory. Maybe just because I generally keep minimall fingernails, but I dig the clumping. Cheers.

  • i love this knife it dose any thing you need and more very durabel also the seatbelt cutter is exillent for cutting ropes.

  • Fantastic review mate!!! I've got a few multi-tools myself and personally am a big fan of the Leatherman Surge!!! Bought it around a year ago and love the durability and the functions..suits me perfectly.. Besides the weight and the size, in my opinion it shud be rated No.1..!!!

  • I find that the Philips screwdriver dents very easily. Has anyone had the same problem?

  • i just ordered the swisstool rs thank you for the review this vid help with my decision

  • nutnfancy why do they sometimes call an awl a reamer with sewing eye how are you gonna sew with that reamer and also what are you gonna sew with it?

  • Hey that's a nice mt but I still rather have my leatherman wave in black and plain me and my dad love it and he is in the construction busniss n he loves his mt as well do I but still nice review little long but still

  • My Swisstool RS' sheath's belt loop broke (bad stiching, but made in USA, weird....), but hey that Leatherman MOLLE sheath makes a great heavy duty subsitute. Fits nicely.

  • Dude you rock! so does that Swisstool!

  • lovely review. sometimes you just get it right nutnfancy

  • Likablilty Scale of Nutnfancy's reviews: 10 out of 10

    Great Work buddy!

  • do you think that the rescue blade could be like a gutting blade because of the blunt tip?

  • Great Work Nutn! Wonderful review... convinced me to bike to the local outdoors store and purchase this beaut! Thanks again

  • is the rs still in production? i didn't find at the victorinox site!

  • I have had a swiss tool since I was a PFC, about 6 years ago. It has deployed with me to Afghanistan 3 times and Iraq once. It is a fantastic MT. It is so strong I have even used it to drive nails and pull teeth. They are just fantastic in everything they do. While not every individual tool may be the best on the market or one handed, it is a total package you have to look at, and as a package it is great. And the sheath is tough too. Heavy duty nylon. Has lasted 6 long abusive and tough years.

  • CORRECTION.....I made a mistake when i commented that the Swisstool CS was the model with Plain edge blade, File, and Sissors.... The Correct Model is the Swisstool X ....... The Swisstool X and the Spirit X contain a standard plain edge spear point blade, the wood saw, and the Sissors... IMO the X model has the most useful tool selection of any variation in either the Swisstool or the Spirit.... again, the Spirit X has plain Spear point in place of the funky serated butter blade..

  • You might want to give a heads up to some of your subsribers that the SwissTool CS offers you the Knife, Sissors,File, and Saw IN A POLISHED VERSION.... IMO it has the better tool selection over the RS... I'll trade a 2nd serated blade for a File all day long... So if you want the file but dont want to buy the Blackened version to get it then get the SwissTool CS... My personal opinion is that Mechanics, Tradesmen, and HD users are better served buying the SwissTool or LM Supertool 300

  • I like the long reviews. It is obviously have a lot of into on the tool. Nice.

  • Replaceable cutters came from Gerber tools. Leatherman should have credited Gerber.

  • Hey Nutnfancy ! Great Video...

If is possible...can you do a review of Swisstool CS ??

    Keep it going !!

  • @mwillblade Yeah, it does. But you don't need to watch it. -- Veri (Nutn's sister)

  • @mwillblade After you, my friend. If you don't like the length of the videos, don't watch.. K.I.S.S. -- Veri (Nutn's sister)

  • @nutnfancy Are you always a pain in the butt to someone ?

  • @nutnfancy It's actually pretty funny, i always tell myself "oh man this video is long, i'm not going to watch the whole vid" and I always end up watching it from start to end:P

  • @nutnfancy hahahahahaha you pwned that guy! I agree though, nutn does not deserve the criticism. He does this for us not for him.

  • @mwillblade

quit being a bitch little boy

  • @nutnfancy yes it is 35 mins. long and we LOOOOOOOOOVE that.

  • Just got my black swisstool today. Overall very nice, very hd. Only issue is with the finish. Its "tacky", as in sticky (sort of). It also seems to smear, and doesn't go completely polished. Other than that, its great.

  • Hmm. Looks like they've redesigned the pouch. Mine has the vertical belt loop, of course, but it also has the same narrower horizontal one shown on the Charge pouch (I think) in either the Multitool Comparison vid or the Gerber 600 vid.

  • I don't understand why you rate the RS so highly. It's 10.2 ounces and it doesn't come with a file!

  • According to the copy on the Amazon listing, RS stands for Rescue and Survival.

Got one recently as part of a lot I bought mostly to get a Delica, but all the reviews I've read and watched have made me really appreciate the SwissTool. Mine must be an older version, though, 'cause it doesn't have that slot for the corkscrew, though. It's just got a hole there. 'Course, unless there's an alternate use for that corkscrew, I have no real use for one and I've got an older SAK that has one attached.

  • that techno beat in the beggining was kinda trippy

  • my dad got one for 600 pesos since this was the standard issue to the company he order one extra for him

  • Nuttin, Just received my amazing swisstool. decided to purchase after this amazing review! only took me 3 months to decide lol.

thank you for all you do.

  • nice i ll buy it hey guys will it fit in a pistol mag pouch as a sheath cuz i wana do that to make it molle compatible with my bagpack?

  • I was kinda unimpressed with the swisstool. The pliers were no much bigger than the Leatherman Charge and the tools had a lot of up and down play when I observed it. It didn't seem like the Swiss tool had any more capability over the Charge except for a few longer tools, but I never found the length to be an issue except for deeply flush mounted screws. The surge had bigger blades, bigger pliers and less tool play on deployment.

  • how is this compared to a super tool 300

  • Cool Ted! One day, at band camp, I just decided to be a jackass for no apparent reason. Then I went back to watching South Park videos. -- Veri (Nutn's sister)

  • @nutnfancy i am looking to buy a swisstool cs plus! but i have a question about these MT's. Is a belt cutter really necessary? couldn't you just use your normal blade?

  • @blowupuate13 I've had my Swiss tool since 98, put it through hell (seriously, i was a teenager abusing it when i first had it) the serrated blade works fine for belt cutting so the belt cutter is unnecessary in my mind, this thing is worth it's weight in gold if not more, seriously just buy one, you'll never regret it for what it is. the real question is do you want the scissors? either you go with scissors or you don't, i make do without the scissored variety and carry surgical scissors with

  • i have a pocket knife just 2 inches shorter ;)

  • I feel that a well-stocked Swiss Army knife has the advantage over a SwissTool in the medium task department. The advantage of the SwissTool would be obviously the pliers and heavier-duty use. But multi-tools in general, though bad-ass and cool a lot of them (and I want a Diesel...'cept those partial serrations), an SA knife has more "jack of all trades" potential.

  • I still prefer my leatherman ST300. I think the ST300 has a better sleeker look. I do not like the plier head design on the swiss tool and I dont care much for the polished look on the swiss tool. It's too slippery in my opinion. Plus the ST300 has removable wire cutters which is a huge advantage.

  • I love the Swiss tool! In my pou the heaver swiss tool is well worth the extra weight. Take it everywhere, for a lot of heavy use it holds up better than most multi-tools. Only problem is the sheaths wear out every year or so.

  • Great review. Touched on all the points that made this a must have for me. Left handed jaws, tools on the exterior of handles. Bought a spirit as well, love the rounded handles, super comfy. Gotta love that superior Swiss engineering.

  • I screwed up my Leatherman Juice s2 wirecutters. Have to file them down.

VIctorinox does have great customer service. They sent me back my Tinker with a thing of Victorinox cologne

  • LMAO, cologne, how European!

  • I love my Swisstool.

Check out how thin the cuts on the back-springs are.

I don't know how they did it, lasers maybe.

  • I estimate that, ceteris paribus, the company cost of making the SwissTool is probably much more than the cost of making the ST 300. The former is polished---everywhere. It's pretty obvious that Leatherman either doesn't have or doesn't use capital dedicated to polishing their surfaces. As a result, Leathermans have a slightly more "slapped together" look.

  • Along with my belief that VIctorinox makes tools to a slightly stricter tolerance than Leatherman, I feel that the tool clumping phenomenon with Leatherman MTs is a consequence of their unpolished finish at the joints (more friction) and Victorinox's skillful application of oil.

I love my Leathermans, though. After months of use, the tools no longer deploy sympathetically. I think that's just something that pretty much has to be literally worn out of the tool.

  • so the tools has blade play ? because i own a SOG powerlock...with the same locking system...and it has blade play on every single tool....and i hate it

  • Nice detailed review. The one drawback is tthat the shiny stuff also makes is slippery. Would be awesome if you also review Charge TTi.

  • It is like twice the price in my country:(.

  • I have had this tool for over 8 years now. I was extremely impressed with it then and still am today. I had no idea about the black one. I will have to get it for the glove box of my truck. The shiny one is currently in my bug out bag. Good review thanks J.

  • Somebody probly already posted this but you can probly use a single mag molle pouch for a sheath.

  • i own this beauty and i believe its much better than any leatherman or any other multi tool out there. robust quality and functionality at its best.

  • Never mind about the sheath info. I finally found it. Thanks for the tip.

  • Can you tell me more about the Super Tool 300 sheath? I can find no reference to it anywhere.

Great review by the way. I bought a Swiss Tool after researching many multitools and coming to the conclusion you did; craftsmanship, usefulness and value. Great Tool!

Utility knife is extremely sharp and cuts through most materials like butter.

  • I have a swisstool I bought 10 years ago on holiday in America (I'm from england) and its amazing, so useful, use it all the time and its still in mint condition!

  • hello i would like to know which multi tool do you recommend... a LEATHERMAN multi tool or a VICTORINOX multi tool? thanks ... nice video

  • @toymelendez i would suggest a leatherman wave MT...they are great for just about anything you can think of

  • Obviously I'm not Nutnfancy but having a lot of his multitool videos I think I can tell you what his answer would be. I think he'd say it depends on what you expect to use it for. Check out his multi tool continuum video.

  • The only flaw I could see with this MT, is the fact you cant open anything with gloves on [(even some tighter tactical gloves)]

If I ever need a MT, I would consider this at first.

  • @WAFFLES081....You can't open any tools with gloves on a multitool.

  • @Shambles940 You can. Just depends on what kind of gloves you are wearing.

  • Love my Victorinox Spirit Blackened I just received yesterday. This thing is built like a tank. Its not my last!

  • lol, i just got one for my birthday, one would almost suspect my parents would watch nutnfancy! just a little correction: ALL tools on the swiss tool are accessible from the exterior, on the leatherman charge only the blades and saws are accessible from the exterior, the rest is inside. anyway, both are great MTs. greetings from switzerland (home of victorinox; yes, i'm proud of it;-))

  • Greetings back TO Switzerland. I'll tell nutn about the correction you supplied on the leatherman vs swiss tool Thanks! -- Veri (Nutn's sister)

  • Amazon is offering another $10 off $50 purchase of Victorinox with free shipping. Just bought a Blackened SwissTool and 2 Deluxe Tinkers for $104 shipped.

Thanks for reviewing the Victorinox Nutn.

  • Holy moly, I gotta text Nutn that deal..good one -- Veri (Nutn's sister)

  • Daddy Like. I just texted this to him..thanks for the tip. -- Veri (Nutn's sister)

  • Excellent. Glad I could help. I keep my eyes open for more deals.

  • The scissor spring is easily obtainable from Mountain Equipment Co-op in Canada for 50 cents each ... but I find the spring is very difficult to remove to replace. Yes Mine broke on my knife still cant get the busted spring out :( Great review BTW I am going to keep my eyes open for one of these Looks like it has everything I want .

  • This is the BEST multi tool made

  • thanks for the video

  • LOL, i love how you said the Leatherman is better built than the Swisstool, totally wrong! The only flaw with the Swisstool is the crazy poprivit style pins that hold all the tools in, you cant adjust it ;(.... the weight is not even noticeable.

  • This MT strikes me as being mainly designed around emergency response. That awl/reamer/punch whatever you wanna call it seems like it could punch through glass. combine that with the rescue blade and it seems like the perfect thing to have in a car in case of an accident

  • I remember that I paid $35 for mine, because it was at an introductory price. They were the first ones that the knife shop ever got in stock.

I can't remember when but I'd say it was over 5 years, maybe as many as 7 years ago. I've carried it on my belt with the original belt pouch every single day since I bought it, and it's very badly frayed but it still works.

The red Victorinox SwissTool decal is halfway gone. Every single tool works just like new. EVERY last one.

  • This is a exellent review on a exellent multitool, i own several, and it never let me down. You can always contact the Victorinox firm, and put suggestions or ideas in.very good services

  • Victorinox repairs your broken Knive/Tool usually for free, at least thats what a guy told me after he had to replace the main blade of his swiss tool after some "misuse": Victorinox just put in a new blade and thats it, no charge etc.! To the "one-hand-opening-locking-blade": These knives are forbidden over here in Germany, so at least you can carry this tool without much problems...

  • Love it. Very big and heavy but worth every ounce.

  • Did the edge of that file have a saw on the edge. Or just file teeth. Wow they could put a saw on one edge of the file and maximize space. Anybody speak swiss. Can you open that multitool when your fingers are extremely cold?

  • at about 8 mins you talked about victorinox customer service and I would like to add that My victorinox product broke (not going to say what product to limit abuse of that information) they sent me a new one without wanting the proken one sent to them! That is some grade A customer support right there!

  • Wow. That rocks big time. Guess I know what MT I'm getting now...

  • this "one-handed" issue depends on the country! here in germany all one-handed knives are illegal for EDC. and i think in the UK there is it too.

so in this POV the victorinox is the better EDC MT becaus you won't get in trouble by just carring an MT.

  • awesome vids nutn, just a thing on the Victorinox not having one-handed opening knife. Over in Europe i believe knife carry (where its possible) one-handed openers are illegal. so bit of a handycap for Victorinox

  • I love your reviews, very interesting to get some first hand information about these items.

RS probably stands for Rostfreies Stahl (Stainless Steel in German). My German is not great but I'm pretty sure that's what it designates.

  • actually the RS stands for Rescue something. the RS has a seerated belt cutting type of knife

  • Almost one year with my Swisstool and I'm still carrying it and love it :D

  • i can't decide between this or the charge! I use the awl a lot, but i use the mini screwdriver a lot too.

  • id say go with the Charge. i mean, both are sepervely excelent, but if you cant decide id go with the Charge

  • I still don't know which multi-tool I want. :-(

I have a Leatherman but I broke the can-opener tool (while attempting to straighten the bend exhaust pipe on my dirtbike), so I need a new one but I can't make up my mind.

All things considered, it seems like the swisstool is a good "bang for your buck" tool, but I'm leaning towards the charge.

  • before i went to iraq i bought a gerber diesel ive had all kinds of multi tools and my gerber diesel by far the best ive used

  • another great review.i have no mt but this helps alot in what i may get.

  • Nut'n you rule was looking at this idea just this month as groomsman gifts. Was tooling around the web and hit upon Leatherman. Had no idear Victorinox was in the game. Duhhh, makes sense and as an Eagle Scout and now a LTJG Nurse Officer with USPHS. This item is a must have for deployments. BTW Awesome review literally started to not watch due to time but man how could you have not spent that long lots of great points and as usual kick'n reviews.

  • I still use my 4 blade boy scout knife that I got 20 years ago. I used and abused it over the years still functions the way it did when I got it new. The blade holds it's edge well, it can slice through paper like nothing. So if you want a quality knife without bulk of a multi-tool get an Official Boy Scout Knife. They're made by Imperial Prov.

  • there are many great MT but in my opinion Leatherman is the Glock of MT's

  • you should have fitzen do a mod on your swisstool, make it user servicable, and im sure you could come up with a tnp mod, like...

  • strange how you can make a interesting 35 min video about a swiss knife system...

  • I love these review vids, but a little long. IMHO, you'd get more viewers with ~10-20 minute vids than 30+ minute ones. I had to bail out after too long, just don't have that kinda time u know.

But I do love the videos.

  • Wow! Has anyone ever gone into more detail on any product review for any product ever? If I ever had a doubt as to what to buy, I don't now!

  • And I think the sheepdog concept extends to "saving the day" in all aspects, and many times that is achieveable with a multi tool. :) Great vid!!!!

  • FYI: I've worked with several stage technicians who carry a multitool with them at all time.

Which one is favored? Leatherman is popular, but the multitool as a principle is popular.

MT's are popular because they''re useful in the workplace. No doubt there.

    Shop for your needs, people.

  • EDCMT! or HDMT? lol

You're right, not many people carry them every day. I only knew of one person, a co-worker. He was an old wise man(usually goes hand in hand) but that may have only been at work. You may call it an HDOMT. Occupational.

  • victorinox uses the soft stainless steel because they is cut-stamp every single part, and to make it cheap enough for you Americans after shipping.

it costs about 20$ to ship a knife from Switzerland to the US.

hope you could do a review on the Victorinox SwissChamp, 33 different tools in a pocket knife!, thats why i am carrying it every day.

got to love victorinox products, just great quality for good price.

    great video, good work, dude!!!

  • HAHAHAHA model 53935 that is a palindrome. That was really random. Great review nutn.

  • Sir I wuold not buy any swiss army tool after I got S___t on by the factory people on the repair of bracelet on a Titanium Watch I bought new in 2001 for about 7 Bills I will go Leatherman. I like standing behind your product and being able to go one handed aswell. So much for fast and shinny. You do good stuff Man enjoy the detail Sir.

  • Sounds to me like leatherman wins the day again. Not impressed with the knife on that vitorinox, same blade steel, means it will break just like on my swiss army knives that have all broke. It's expensive, and personally to me I think it's probably junk. By quality at a cheaper price and get the leatherman. It's a better buy.

  • is it a problem to access the tools on the swiss tool while wearing gloves?

  • it will be on pretty much all MT

  • But on the swiss it looks harder than with the leathermans "hooked" tools

  • probably, depends on the thickness of the gloves.

but if you need thick gloves, buy a standard swiss army knife with red plastic grips like the victorinox huntsman or swisschamp.

  • Lools hard to get the small tools out with gloves on.

  • I like the knife and pliers better of the big Leatherman, but I like everything else on the Swiss Tool. Which one should I get, I can't decide! lol

  • I used my swisstools large flat head to pry open paint cans it works really well

  • I am a long time carrier of Victorinox Swiss Army knives. I have had them on me since I was a kid (when nobody else I knew had them). I love their knifes, and the "capabilities" they have given me.

Oddly enough, it never crossed my mind to look at their MTs. Thanks to your review, I will look at them now.

    Thanks Nutnfancy!

  • I love how you show multiple other tools in your comparison, instead of just the one you are reviewing. It really brings home the differences in each, instead of just talking about other options. Seeing it really helps, and I find that it helps choose one over the other to fit my specific POU. Another great review.

  • Where's part 2 of High Skies? D':

  • I agree...I am on a superior connection to most peoples, and it takes forever for them to play. 10 minutes worth of info is enough for most intel type people to make a choice.

  • Haha...ok, I'll stay outta it. -- Veri (Nutn's sister)
