Great stones there. How do you photograph rough gems effectively? I have about twenty years old Burmese ruby rough of all qualities and sizes and it is a huge stash.

I have always just adored amethysts, diamonds and peridots. Having recently discovered opals, I have to agree with you that they are the Mother of all Gemstones. Lovely video, thankyou.
@normalil I just got into looking at precious gems and things soley because Im starting to learn about my astrological sign.
I never had much intrest in learning about gems but latley I have to say looking at this opal makes me proud it is my gem stone. It is really a beautiful gem.
@paulypaulification Oh I suppose. I've seen Nevada black though - can't hold a candle to LIghtning Ridge (and unstable on top of it). I've got some super colorful Nevada but it's sitting in water. My heart is in Welo right now (sorry my Australian mates) due to pieces like this > /watch?v=Xin2kgZ8VUU
The best part is, it costs somewhat less than a mansion in Japan!
I love opal. David Yurman did some beautiful pieces using opal and tanzanite. The blue of the tanzanite really sets off the play of color in the opals. Some of the opals in this vid are truly spectacular
Also found in the Ozark mountains of Missouri--USA

I would like to look at it shinning inside the cave from where it came from.
I don't want to own it, just see it in nature

Looks freakin' awesome, but, will it blend, that is the question?

If you pay to mine for your own opals, what are the chances of finding any opals?
