Whenever I am asked about my religeon, I answer "I'm a Shintoist" coz mostly itz like a freethinker ^^ I graduated from catholic school, I go to the Buddhist Temple, I join Ramadan :) Fashion (Wedding) = Christian This world (Make a wish) = Shintoism Next world (Funeral) = Buddhism Mixture... is what Japanese love...
Shinto is an appealing religion - no definitive texts and guidelines, its animistic principles, the way nature and family are embraced etc, but then again several sources state that the female isn't viewed as equal to the male... "Acceptance and understanding", hmm. I'll take that with a pinch of salt.

Now if we could have that kinda of acceptance and understanding in the Western world

@theinternetscholar George Lucas does, he follows Methodist Christianity and Buddhism and I believe some shinto as well
