I have a question, and I'm too lazy to fire up my xbox, but can the guards actually kick grenades back at you like they do in the PC version? Is the kicking of grenades present in the PS2 version as well?
You're serious? This level demonstrates it perfectly, the PS2 has much more to the levels. In fact, the Escape mission is two full missions on the PS2, instead of just one.
The controls are pretty equal. But I prefer the extra two shoulder buttons (instead of the black and white buttons) on the PS2.
Well to be honest, I haven't played this gem of a game within the last few years, so most of the map seemed the same, graphically similar, but the HUD is certainly irritating without a number system for health/armor etc.
The PS2 version of this level does have 2 parts and some extra parts to it, and the xbox version is a one for one translation from the PC version except for a door that is replaced by a wall in the xbox version.
You should watch the PS2 level I have uploaded. Completely different for the first part. There's 2-1 which is almost completely new, and 2-2 which is very similar to the PC and XBox versions.
OH yeah, the secrets are in a different place, and the forest level is split into 2 parts in the PS2 version, where the first part does not need stealth, while the xbox version does. The Secret weapons levels and x-labs are roughly the same. I don't know, but in the unhallowed ground level, where the MG nest is, the xbox version has a mountain wall, while the PC version has a broken bridge. Never got far in the PS2 version yet though.
One thing I noticed in the XBox version (you'll see in the next level) that it doesn't allow you to pick up stuff like chairs. In the first secret of Castle Keep, instead of putting the chair on the table, and jumping from it to the top of the fireplace, there's steps in the wall.
yeah, it's kind of dumb that they took away chairs, but they did add in some new enemies, a shotgun, and some new usuable items in your inventory. The EMP device kind of defeats the purpose of defeating the uber soldat in the x-labs though. Kind of sucks right there. The shotgun weapons is more of a gimmick, I guess it is used as much as chairs in PC version. In multiplayer, the shotgun is next to useless, and you are better with MP40/Thompson instead.
wait... didnt the pc version start on this lvl?

There seems to be no difference between the Playstation and Xbox versions, other than the HUD. Are the controls any harder/easier to manage?

Another difference here is the village level.
