I find it funny, that men will go through considerable time and effort to intelligently design an experiment, where they create the right conditions and introduce the right stimulation to create simple building blocks of life. Then turn around and say, "This is proof that there is no intelligent design." Hello that's blatantly against the evidence of your experiment b/c it took intelligence and creativity, it wasn't random in the least bit.

@kryptikninja: Assuming you're referring to abiogenesis, then such simulations aim to replicate the conditions present on earth several billion years ago. Maybe if the scientists just threw all the materials together on the ground and waited a few billion years, they would get accurate results, but the odds are against it. That's one of the tenets of abiogenesis (and evolution): over a vast period of time, random events, changes and mutations all contributed to form life.

God could exist. So could a space alien that made us. So could an invisible flying toaster. But it's not science.  Science doesn't know where life came from but it's not going to rest until it does.

I love how comments seem to degenerate into a discussion of whether Ben Stein or Glenn Beck are geniuses or idiots. Why do they have to be either? They're entertaining to those with an open mind, certainly, but they're just 2 guys with an opinion who aren't afraid to share it. Whether they're right or wrong shouldn't get people so worked up. They're neither heroes nor villains, just guys who deserve to have their voices heard like every other person in a free society.

Exactly. But while I'd love to embrace and congratulate Beck's patriotism, is it only the damn lefties that have to get that America, as great as it is (I'm Canadian) is imperfect. Many of us owe our lives to the US, but to say that you're unpatriotic in pointing out America's weaknesses and mistakes is assinine to me.
