  • Seeing how the two top comments are both pro-Craig and have a commanding position with 77 and 11 thumbs up, I can conclude that the 82 dislikes are just atheists who click on the video to thumb it down and then quickly leave, lest they learn something.

  • Dead-to-the-spirit deluded "God Delusion" author & blithering fool scientist goon Richard Dawkins another "leader" given 2 the profane masses is another useful idiot 4 Jesuit machinations

Jesuitical; pertaining to the Jesuits or their principals; designing; cunning; deceitful; prevaricating

The Jesuit Order completely altered the education system 2 suit their Evo-Hoax Agenda to discredit the Bible

Papal Rome cant have their Counter Reformation 2nd Dark Age DESPOTISM until Bible is destroyed

  • @SpencerBenedict2nd Jesuits?

  • Wow that guy show how atheists tends to behave(at least the ones taht I have encounter) who trow a bunch of insult to you If you disagree

  • I've never seen anyone more professional then WLC in debate. I'm not a theist I only stand for the side of logic, reason, and civil discourse. Nothing makes me more disappointed at the state of logic in humanity then to see the growing number of people who attack arguments not based on their validity, but on their own personal bias and grievances.

  • A 'good man' would not attempt to justify the atrocities of the Old Testament, period; but the way that Craig goes about it ( 'think about the poor soldiers who had to do all that raping and killing' ) is especially morally repugnant.

  • @purg4t0r1 Atrocities? What atrocities? There are NO RECORDS of women or children killed in Canaan, genius. Get your facts straight: watch?v=k2kSST8O93Y

  • @drcraigvideos oh.. pending approval, thats the christian thing on youtube!

  • @eleminatus So? If atheists can make a comment without cussing, trolling, or lying, maybe that would be helpful. Please exert self-control and be fair.

  • @purg4t0r1 There's no evidence that any massacre happened at all, let alone a "justification" for such an event, Captain Retard.

  • At least the video title is accurate. Always attacking.

  • Craig is One of the best christian speakers I have Ever heard. He will surely be blessed in Heaven. I guess in older days he would be consider a mighty Warrior of God....

  • I was wondering, do you happen to know the last name of the man who is interviewing Craig in this video?

  • Sorry, i don't know his last name.

  • @Livelyanv

It's Kevin Harris. This is from the Reasonable faith podcast.

  • @Livelyanv - Kevin Harris?

  • The irony in this is that heckler says that Craig didn't have self control...

  • Woah the questioner obviously had great personal bias against the msot respectable Dr Craig!

  • I'm an atheist, and I like Craig, as I would guess many atheists do. It's nice to hear an intelligent presentation of the other side for a change. It's ultimately unconvincing, but at least he forms his case thoughtfully, and is obviously an excellent debater.

  • Good call. I agree, much better than a Hovind or Comfort response. :)

  • Where can I find the debate between Craig and Avalos?

  • Look in the description area.

  • I agree.

  • HAHAHA! a Bald ignorant attention-seeking kid thinks he can get WLC on logical fallacies? WLC is a master when it comes to following logic. Hitchens, for example, is incredibly smart, but is no where near WLC's depth. Hitchens always, almost by default, goes off on weird tangents.

  • Who kept saying "Shame on you?" And to who was the statement directed?

  • An audience member. To William Lane Craig.

  • People hate him because he is so right. But what is wrong with WLC's hands?

  • I listened to the Craig/Avalos Resurrection debate. I was disappointed. Perhaps a written debate might produce more truth.

    Ebal the Atheist

  • As an "atheist", a term I dislike as I don't deny a god as such but I'm not inclined to accept one either, at least with the little, if any, evidence we have, I have to say that I'm getting a little fed up of what I call "tribal atheists", like the heckler, who don't actually understand why Dr Craig had to open with that statement it really gives people who say they are for reason a bad name. I'm not found of Craig or his points but he was right to say this and the heckler was wrong

  • plus 5.

Having only been what I would call an 'atheist' for about a year, I've never really come across such people until relatively recently. It's a very ugly feeling, and it makes the rest of us look really bad, when in reality the non-belief in a deity puts you no more in relation to one another than the non-belief in flying monkeys. Still, it's uncomfortable.

  • That guy in the audience (the Heckler) was a total douchebag.

  • The heckler sounded like the typical bitter internet atheist who can't cope with losing and being wrong.

  • @observer75 Yeah I agree

  • @observer75 couldnt agree more

  • Avalos sounds like the Kent Hovind of atheism. I'm glad i haven't heard of him.

  • The atheist, Dr. Hector Avalos, sounds like a raving foaming at the mouth fundamentalist.

  • Is this debate available? After warning him about his unprofessional conduct he turns around and acts like a moron anyway. Leftest norm.

  • That heckler is such an emo.

  • Dr. Craig did neither of the above. He merely attempted to point out a specific flaw in his opponent's debate history, which is not a character flaw to begin with -- it is a methodological flaw.

He also made no attempt to use that methodological flaw to conclude that his opponent's argument was flawed as well.

The heckler is an angry little man, and he should be ashamed of himself, and no, this post is also not an ad hominem logical fallacy.

  • The downvoting is just too funny. Keep it up Craig, these kind of responses show your doing something right.

  • To say Atheism or theism is true is just like saying marxism is true , communism is true, blah blah is true. Correct sentence should be Atheism is a true......(something) .

  • Avalos should be shames of himself, God Bless William Lane Craig

  • 5 stars for the truth ! WLC describes it better than anyone !

  • Like i don´t know how true this clip is..... Atheists wont debate, they will use their beliefs as scientific evidence....5 stars and thanks for the upload.

  • Yes,really atheists comes from monkeys!

  • well, avalos looks more like a sloth

  • and sounds like a chicken.

  • ANGRYLITTLEGIRI!!

  • Dr Craig is a very smart man, no doubt about that. He's a good debater but he's also good at making opinion seem as if it were fact.

I'm an atheist. This is my OPINION. If you are Christian, that's your OPINION.

Christians tend to not want to admit that their faith is just that, faith. Not a fact. It's an opinion.

  • "Christians tend to not want to admit that their faith is just that, faith." - Actually, I beg to differ. Faith is not based on a lack of evidence, but on the BASIS of evidence.

  • Good point.

  • i think you're confusing craig's position.

he often says that he has good reasons to be a believer and doesn't have any good reasons not to be.

I think the "facts" are just that his conclusions are inescapable IF the premises are true. And then he tries to give good reason to believe them to be true.

  • Christianity is not an opinion. It's either false or true. It's a question of weighing up the evidence.

How can God be an opinion? He exists or does not exist.

You've obviously drunk in our fabulous post-modern relativistic nonsensical culture.

  • Yes, we all have opinions. No one is doubting that.

But an opinion can be true or false, right or wrong. Dr Craig's (and indeed all theists) "opinion" is that God exists. And he presents logical proofs that strongly support his personal "opinion."

  • But atheism can't be proven either so in that sense it's also a "faith." I'm a Christian and I do admit it is a faith. That's the whole point or it wouldn't even be called a faith but simply fact.

  • Atheism can't be proven? Atheism is "lack of belief in gods". You don't prove lack of belief. A more appropriate word might be "justify". I can justify the reasons for not believing in god, but I can't, nor do I feel the need to prove that I lack belief in gods. Your stupidity irks me to the point of just resorting to name calling, but I will refrain myself since it's not your fault that you lack critical thinking.

  • Nonsense. Lacking belief in God is agnosticism. You may be unconvinced of God's existence personally, but God could still exist. In order to be an atheist, you need to positively deny the existence of God (you don't need 100% proof, just good arguments).

Atheism is the claim that "there is no god" is a true statement. If it is merely a personal lack of belief then one may as well just be agnostic (or, for that matter, a tree, a baby, brick or a dog, who also lack belief in God).

  • The definition of agnosticism and atheism are commonly misunderstood. Belief and knowledge are 2 separate things. There are people who agree that we cannot for sure know whether there are intelligent beings on other planets, but some will claim to believe in aliens and others will lack that belief.

The word "believe" is a verb. It's a commitment you make. Nobody starts out a believer. Lack of belief is the default position and there is no in between believing and not believing.

  • No. Atheism is the claim that one does not believe in the existence of a God. Atheism and agnosticism answer different questions. Agnosticism refers to knowledge, atheism refers to belief. Most reasonable atheists are agnostic atheists, in that they realize one cannot know whether or not there is no God, but are atheistic in that they don't believe there is one.

I don't know there isn't a Lion in my living room without looking, but I have no reason to believe there is one.

  • But if you heard one roar you would might want to reconsider.

  • I'd say, It's more like a living being evidence for the lions existence rather than that of it being visibly accounted for.

If one can be picky of such things :p

  • I know why Atheists attack Dr. Craig, it's because he exsposes how and why Atheists are illogical.

The more truth Dr. Craig exsposes, the deeper the Atheists must go into self deception, in order to maintain their illogical and unscientific world views.

Dr. Craig and the like have the ability to back intellectually dishonest Atheists into the corner of the little box that they call reality.

  • Lol at all the downvoting. It seems as if atheists don't like it when they get caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

  • great video, and appreciate the links to view his debate with avalos

  • great video. much respect to william craig

  • This was a long overdue video. I have been looking forward to having Craigs response to using ad-hominemal attacks. This was the best video I have seen in a long time. Thanks

  • I don't think very highly of many of Dr. Craig's arguments, but he does conduct himself quite professionally when debating. I don't know enough about Avalos or the background of this particular situation, but it's a good reminder to both sides: stick to attacking the arguments and not the people giving them.

I also appreciated the irony when the audience member yelled "well OBVIOUSLY you have no self-control!"

  • lol, Avalos kinda look like The Grinch.

  • I do not understand why a person who chooses not to believe in God would become emotional when confronted with a person who does. Perhaps someone would be kind enough to explain this to me?

I mean, the Christian (for example) does the Atheist no harm simply by virtue of his or her belief in God. Yet, it's not uncommon to see atheists become overwrought and antagonistic while attempting to dissuade or discourage believers. Often to the point of demonstrating anger or hatred. I wonder why.

    FAX

  • Much of atheism is plagued with immature temper tantrums as you heard when people were childishly interupting Dr. Craig in this video when he was trying to answer questions.

It uses vindictive and condescending remarks based on it's superficial judgements on Christianity and the general belief in God. It's a very weak form of ideology and a lot of what it says holds little ground on debates.

  • Wow, I guess I was right. Dr. Avalos did try to comment here. This video must have hit a nerve with him since he wrote a rather large commentary about it on John Loftus' "Debunking Christianity" blog. I can't believe he defended the Heckler in it. Enough said.

  • Ironically I found this from following a link on the Debunking Christianity blog in a post written by Mr. Avalos. William Lane Craig is amazing. I could listen to him talk all day. Donald James Parker Author of All the Stillness of the WInd

  • It's interesting how Avalos & his minions have responded. They made this video's point by attacking u and Dr. Craig. I have 2 laugh at the irony. In typical, Avalos fashion he says that Craig is full of dishonesty and lies, and then he even defended the heckler! Something tells me that Avalos has downright hatred towards Craig, now. Since his departure from Christianity, Avalos is now full of vitriol. What made him like this? Was it becuz Craig made him look bad in front of his students at ISU?

  • Bibleapologetics: That may very well be the case. If anybody is interested someone at William Lane Craig's forum responded to Dr. Avalos. You can find it in the "Choose Your Own Topic" forum under "Hector Avalos 'goes after'William Lane Craig". The response is #7. I wonder if this is the same Fanofdrcraig in charge of the msypace site under the same name. Anyway, it's a good point-by-point refutation.

  • Yeah, I read Fanofdrcraig's response to Avalos. I thought it was quite good, too. But in reading Avalos' response I was bothered with the fact that he defended the heckler and thought he made some "generally correct" statements about Craig. Avalos also added that the heckler "enumerated specific types of fallacies"! My ears were wide open, the heckler gave NO EXAMPLES of any fallacies at all! Avalos is truly desperate to make Craig look like an idiot.

  • On 7/22/09 Dr. Avalos said this, "Since the website [he means me - drcraigvideos] would not post my comments..." Well, I didn't post his comments because I wasn't sure it was actually Hector Avalos. Furthermore, Avalos' comment insulted Dr. Craig by suggesting "as usual" Craig refuses to deal with facts. Funny how he thinks this doesn't amount to an attack on Craig. We hope that Avalos would humble himself and be more mindful of his tactics and be more honest about Craig.

  • Dr. Avalos cannot be honest about people who have bested him or refuted him. Dr. Craig railroaded him in their debate.

  • Avalos most definitely is not much of a debater. But he's a teeny tiny bit better than Dawkins at least.

  • Avalos tried to comment here? To be honest, I wouldn't at all be surprised if he did. He has made occasional responses on blogs and other sites before so this would probably be no different. What was the YouTube account name?

  • Christianjr4: I believe it was "Havalos" followed by a series of humbers.

  • Yea. Um. Craig is nearly as respectable as you seem to imply. In nearly every debate I've seen with Craig, he frantically sticks to his one, famous line of reasoning and allows for no detraction. If the opponent should attempt to detract, Craig usually ignores this altogether. Also, Craig REFUSES to engage in formal written debate with atheists (I wonder why?), and his Kalam cosmological argument has been destroyed by several prominent philosophers, yet he refuses to respond to this. Sad.

  • xx13moons: Obviously, U haven't read up on Dr. Craig or even listened closely to his debates. He always allows detractions and he deals with them. U need only look at my "The Wit of Dr. Craig" series. But a cursory glance at his debates proves U wrong. And the accusation that Craig doesn't deal in formal written debate is obviously a lie. Craig debated Walter Sinnott-Armstrong and Quentin Smith in written debates that are available in book form. Checkout Amazon and U'll know you're wrong.

  • xx13moons, you are a sad sad person. If you actually knew of Craig's works then you'd k now he has a written debate with Walter Sinnott-Armstrong and Quentin Smith. Don't believe everything you read from Avalos.

  • I just don't see how Dr. Craig puts up with this stuff.

  • I wonder about that too. I've read a lot of lies and downright dishonesty from atheists when the subject of Dr. Craig comes up. He must be a very patient guy!

  • I can barely deal with these insults myself, and I am not a professional apologist. I spend a lot of time commenting on atheist videos and replying to attacks on Craig made by atheists on the 100huntley videos, and nearly every reply that I have gotten from atheists have included no refutations to my claims and are completely filled with insults like "superstitious", "idiotic", "believes in fairy tales". It is extremely hard not to stoop to their tactics. Good video by the way.

  • Thanks for posting!

  • wow, what an idiot! Show the heckler the door.

  • Speaking as a student of Iowa State, Many of us would welcome Dr. Craig to the campus.

  • Don't let the atheist heckler know. He'd probably try throwing a rock at Dr. Craig!

  • LOL, I'm an atheist, but that heckler was insane. Accusing a professional philosopher of informal fallacies without even saying what they were (and getting it wrong when you do) is not a good way of criticizing.

It's frustrating that so many people don't understand the meaning of "ad hominem". First of all, unless you conclude that someone is *wrong* because of those insults, insults alone are not ad hominem. Second, preempting unprofessional behaviour does not constitute insult or ad hominem.

  • "that heckler was insane. Accusing a professional philosopher of informal fallacies"

It would be funny, if it wasn't so dramatic.

"It's frustrating that so many people don't understand the meaning of "ad hominem""

haha! yeh tell me about it!

  • Just a question, what is your definition of Ad Hominem?

  • My understanding (not definition, there's a difference) of ad hominem is the use of personal attacks or aspersions to suggest the falsity of a person's conclusions or premises. Notice it's not the use of attacks or aspersions to discredit a person. A person's credibility may be relevant to attack, while their logic is not.

If I tell you that quantum mechanics contradicts free will, you will wonder if I am a credible person to speak about the matter. If I show you how it does, that's logic.

  • An ad hominem argument, also known as argumentum ad hominem (Latin: "argument against the man") consists of replying to an argument or factual claim by attacking or appealing to a characteristic or belief of the person making the argument or claim, rather than by addressing the substance of the argument or producing evidence against the claim.

The process of proving or disproving the claim is thereby subverted, and the argumentum ad hominem works to change the subject.

  • Got it.

  • Thank you for posting this video. Avalos is a weasel and he does not understand Intelligent Design (after all, he's not a scientist), and he has no real warrant when it comes to history. If anybody is interested I have a debate between Avalos and Weikart on the Nazis and whether they were evolutionists or not (do a search of "Were the Nazis Evolutionists?" in youtube). Avalos gets roasted in the debate!

  • The lengths atheists go to in order to destroy the Faith. Sometimes it worries me. Our society is sinking back into paganism and barbarism: people like William L. Craig are on the front line showing people that this change is wrong.

  • I would just like to thank drcraigvideos and Christianjr4 for posting as many videos as they have. I watch them almost daily and have become fascinated with Christian apology and the powerful arguments by one of the best Christian apologists there are. Thanks again and keep on spreading the Word.

  • LOL...I totally remember this. I can't believe Craig got a heckler, especially over something so trivial too.

Heckler: "I kept tally of the number of logical fallacies you committed and it was 25"

I guess that guy didn't do that well in his logic class.

  • It's wonderful to see the Word of God's analysis of unbelief become so very concrete in instances like these, but it also hurts to see the degree to which depravity drives a man to strive in futility against God, reason and, ultimately, destroy himself.

  • "drcraigvideos", I wanted to say this to you earlier through PMs, but only those on your friends list can talk to you - Thank you for posting these videos. William Lane Craig is one of the most intelligent defenders of the faith in modern times, so I naturally have to be grateful for anyone that takes the time to post his lectures for all to see. Kudos.

  • that heckler was a douche

  • You're being too kind to "Mr Shame".

  • wow the atheists embarrasses me- and im not even an atheist!

  • AHAHHAHAHAHAHA Atheist just embarrassed himself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

  • Hi there,

I really appreciate your channel and getting to hear so much of Dr. Craig's videos. Thank you so much! I would also urge you, as a Christian, not to refer to our enemies as low-lifes, or anything of the sort. I want to see this channel continue, and I fear that such comments will provoke atheists further, and I want for you to be encouraged in doing what you are doing here, and a provoked person can be quite discouraging.

    God bless.

  • So, someone is not a low-life when the wish harm upon Dr. Craig just for being a Christian? Are you kidding me? Do you have any idea of the kind of comments I get and have to go through on a daily basis?

  • Thanks for this video. You do a nice job of pulling together Craig's comments regarding Avalos and putting the issue of Avalos' agenda in perspective.

Do you know whether the debate between Craig and Wes Morriston will be available?

  • emailgarbage20: Hmm, have to look that one up. But I'm not sure.

  • Personally, the heckler was a bit ridiculous. I can imagine being rather awe-struck and a bit shaken if someone got up and yelled that at me. It's just immature. If he wanted to make a point, then he should have picked a very small handful of logical fallacies or ad hominem attacks, or whatever, and provided an example of what Dr. Craig actually said.

To the heckler: Ad hominem attacks may appeal to our "baser" drives or nature, but they have no bearing on the arguments.

  • Who was the guy saying "Shame on you!" that was a bit funny.

    Nice video : )

  • Not sure. It was either the questioner, a friend of the questioner, or simply someone from the audience. The moderator at one point told the audience to be quite.

  • I like how the heckler claims that Craig has no self control while interrupting him to make the claim in the first place. Irony?

I may be wrong, but I take these kinds of emotionally charged attacks on character as a sign that at least some anti-theists now know that their ship has already sunk.

  • Indeed, LouGojira2! That heckler had no self-control. And he has some nerve telling that to Dr. Craig. A guy like that needs to get a life.

  • how dare they heckle dr. craig!!

  • This shouldn't surprise a Christian. Atheist must continually suppress the knowledge of God. It is the God of the Bible they hate. The heckler should have been escorted out of the building by security.

  • i thought it was hilarious when when avalos butted in and shouted "you have no self-control". what an idiot! lol

  • Actually, that was not Avalos but someone from the audience during the Q&A.

  • If more iowans knew about Dr. Avalos, his ass would be fired. Not too many people up there would take kindly to this man being paid with tax dollars.

  • u from iowa?

  • What's interesting is, you can use tax dollars to attack religion and intimidate people out of their religious views (like what Avalos is doing); but when it comes to criticizing evolution, well, by jo, it's just wrong. Either way, Avalos has a free ride literally at our expense.

  • lol Who even cares that much about digging for fallacies other than amateur fanatics? That itself is a red herring. The heckler must've been butthurt about a few arguments.

  • I love how Dr. Craig remains calm despite all of the attacks -- that's something a lot of us Christians need to learn (::cough including me). Thanks for posting. =)

  • Yes. I admire how Craig composes himself and remains eloquent when he is persecuted. We could all learn from him, especially us Christians.

  • Yes, he remained calm and eloquent; but "persecuted" is taking it a bit too far, IMO.

  • So, it's not persecution to have someone denied tenure just for holding Intelligent Design... just like what Avalos did to Gonzalez?

  • Avalos FAIL

  • NICE ONE drcraigvideos!

  • my friend

Atheists are full of hate and nastiness and then they argue that no way could atheism have influenced these atheist leaders to commit the slaughter that they carried out, these hateful, nasty and vicious individuals act one way and engage in special pleading, not all atheists but there is a large amount especially on youtube that display these personality traits.

  • Everyone WHO tries to embarrass Dr. Craig FAILS!

These militant and fantastical atheists are an embarrassment. Stay with the real arguments and stop with the personal attacks, and false logic. I have had to block quite a few atheists who have sent me extremely nasty messages attacking my personal character and beliefs, when they don't even know me! It's ridiculous!

  • *fanatical

  • xtrashed: Indeed! I had to block over 200 atheist commentors for immature remarks. Some atheists are just waiting for Dr. Craig to slip. They can't wait if he gets caught in a scandal or if someone embarrasses him. Truly a sick crowd if you ask me. But if (God forbid) Dr. Craig does something wrong (people tend to forget he's a human being), that doesn't say anything about the evidence he presents.

  • Perhaps, people will fail in embarrassing Dr. Craig. But that doesn't mean other apologists have been attacked quite egregiously. For instance, Gonzalez was denied tenure thanks to Avalos - who didn't even deny that it was all because he held to intelligent design. I can't believe people like that.

  • Avalos still pulled a trick like this in his debate with Craig, when he went off-topic, talked about a book from Craig and asked "What is [...] in perfectly smooth aramaic?" while Craig didn't use that argument in the book ...

However, the audience was quite amusing.

  • Pumbaelo: That's a typical Avalos tactic. If I recall correctly, a Christian student told Avalos that he lost his debate to Dr. Craig. Avalos asked the Christian if he understood Aramaic. To which the Christian student said no. Then Avalos said the Christian student had no right to judge whether he lost the debate or not! LOL! I certainly don't understand Aramaic but I do know debate protocol. And it's quite easy to see that Dr. Craig beat Avalos in their debate about the resurrection.

  • avalos FTL

  • Avalos said he considers Doherty's thesis "plausible".

  • LittleSn00py: I think that says a lot about Avalos. Doherty was inspired by GA Wells. And if I'm correct, Wells has turned away from the mythicists view. Any historian who holds to the view that Jesus never existed is, quite frankly, way way waaaayyy out of line of New Testament scholarship.

  • I wonder how they can keep him at an university. He even thinks favorable of R. Price.

    ~ Sn00py

  • At 6:38 - Heckler? More like a fanatical atheist. Clearly, that person tried to embarrass Dr. Craig. But it didn't work.

Avalos is not a good thinker or debater. He knows this. So, he thinks he can give a more persuasive argument if he attacks the person instead. After what he did to Gonzalez, I just don't see how a person like that can sleep with themselves at night. Avalos cannot have a civil discussion. And I hope people listen to his debate with Dr. Craig. Dr. Craig beat Avalos with ease.

  • Dr. Avalos can hold a civil discussion... only to your face. But behind your back, he's full of lies and ridicule. He actually said Paul Copan was a moral relativist (which is a lie), and he thinks that Richard Weickart is a creationist (which is also a lie). Avalos is definitely one of the most dishonest atheists out there. What makes him attack people the way he does? I don't know.

  • I think behaviour of that kind is what I'd like to call emo-atheism. Atheism based not on sound argumentation but simply on personal anger and fear of being wrong.

There are plenty of religious people like this too, but it especially frustrates me to see people who claim to be more rational and intelligent than religious people, simply on the grounds that they don't believe in God and will spit in your face if you disagree.

This is the kind of "God is dead" claim one finds in myspace poems.

  • Spend your time reading MySpace atheists' poetry, do you?

  • Most of it is to be found in their prose.
