  • I honestly love this soundtrack. I know alot of other people love it too, but it just touches my heart sometimes. I don't know why, but thomas newman has the ability to do that, haha. All of his works are genius. What I love about this soundtrack in particular though is that not all of the parts are depressing, some of them are very light-hearted and relaxing, and others are simply breath-taking.

  • touching track.

  • lookin at one place for too long thinkin flashin back sorrows back in time and wonder whats next ???

  • 6:40 so beautiful...

  • this fil should've won an oscar

  • easily my favorite role played by tom hanks. one of newmans best roles as well

  • i want die

  • I usually write essays to this soundtrack, it's the only music that keeps me concentrated

  • @92KMD I never thought I'd meet someone who does exactly the same thing haha, I'm doing it right now.

  • if while listening to this makes my world cultures class feel epic, there's something to be said.

  • One of my favorite scores. Such an under-appreciated movie. One of the best made in the 2000s, I think. That Thomas Newman still doesn't have an Oscar is a poor reflection on the Academy.

  • What's the irish track that starts at 03:56?

  • @Winduct - Hi. That part is from the first track on the official soundtrack, called 'Rock Island, 1931'.

  • @Vebansen Thanks.

  • I will have this played at my funeral pyre

  • Excellent movie...excellent score!! The Newman brothers are a gift to this planet......

  • whats the first song?

  • @Jamietheboi91 - Hi. The first song is called 'Road To Chicago'.

  • I've had to study this film for my final year of high school. I've watched it at least 12 times in the last couple of months and can honestly say that I am not -and could never become- sick of this film.

  • This film should be in your top ten, Music amazing, cast brilliant and as for the story - well see it and you will not be disappointed. Art direction worthy of any award. Thomas Newman is gifted.

  • this music makes me fell like i'm back in the past and that i am in a mafia i like to listen to this music when i've nothing to do and i know that it will never grow old

  • omg

    wtf

  • Thanks that s beautiful :D

  • Nice Work, Thomas Newman is amazing.

  • Bardzo piękna muzyka

  • is this the collated version, with all the soundtracks together or something?

  • wow... it's amazing!

  • Mendes does it again. Bad, bad luck to be Oscar nominated in such a strong year otherwise this would have picked up more awards. Superb art direction yet again from a real master of his craft. Tom Hanks cast against type is quite amazing - forget Forrest Gump.

  • @rohansrider

YES, HE SHINES IN ROAD TO PERDITION....PHENOMENAL ACTOR ALL-AROUND

  • wow. this is the kind of song that puts your whole life into perspective...and makes you want to change it.

  • whats the first song?!!!?!?!?! the part at 0:39 is orgasmic

  • 4:24 most beautiful thing I've heard in my entire god damn life :,)

  • What are the names of this songs?

  • This was such a great movie. I don't know how it didn't sweep the Oscars. Of course I'm just saying that because I liked the movie better than Chicago.

  • My fave is the pipe part. Which specific score is that? I couldn't find it on youtube.

  • One of the best movies EVER.

So underrated, and the score was a big part.

  • hey whats the name of the song that starts a five fifteen?

  • @xxxR4MB0xxx - Hi. The name of the song playing at 5:15 is called 'The Farm'.

  • @Vebansen hey thanks alot i love you

  • It's beautiful when the strings come in around 1:04, really dynamic.

  • in my opinion the best movie soundtracks are, 1.Road to perdition 2. fargo 3.Amelie 4.Schindler's list 5.god father

    6.beautiful mind 7.Amorres perros 8.Paris 9.cinema paradiso 10.scent of a woman

  • @Yozer245 damn it! why would you mention their names here!

and don't think your special just because you listen to not very popular music

  • incredibly haunting tune..........dont fuck with the IRISH!!!!!!

  • This is truly exceptional music. Thank you for uploading

  • This music <3

  • I love this music while I paint clean or just drive to LI~;) Thank you!

  • What is the diffrence between a soundtrack and a score? or are they both just synonyms. Does anyone care to elaborate? Much appreciated.

  • @basso3000 - Hi Basso. Normally when there are 2 seperate albums such as one with instrumental music and then another with music by artists/bands, the instrumentals made specifically for the film is the 'score', whilst the collection of songs that were (inspired by the movie) from different bands comprise the 'soundtrack'. However, when there is only one release such as the instrumental, then the word/phrase used by the music distributor can be either 'score' or 'soundtrack'.

  • @Vebansen thanks for the explanation ^^ english is sadly not my first language so that's why I didnt know the subtle difference between a score and a soundtrack. But still this score is pretty god damn awesome :D

  • 9:42 - 9:52 brings so much emotion.. i could listen to just those ten seconds on repeat forever.

  • no comments...jst speechless..jst unstoppable music....

  • This is really beautiful. Its sunny and beautiful day, and im just sitting with cup of coffee and watching out of the window while listening to this. Magical 10 minutes.

  • @ImpDaKama - Thank you. Glad this little upload was able to accompany your magical day. Even if only for 10 minutes.

  • @Vebansen i wish it is sunny where i live.... ugh Canada :(... great country though :)

  • @ImpDaKama if just 10 min can be such a gr8 experience, imagine how much njymnt v can get in our whole lyf..music make us frgt everythn...

  • god whats the song at 7:10?

  • @fataslin - Hi fataslin. The song being played at the 7:10 mark is called simply 'Road To Perdition'. It's the penultimate song on the soundtrack, track number 26. It starts off very similar to a track called 'The Farm' (track number 13), before going into the section that you're querying.

  • @Vebansen thanks for the info. love that track, and love the splice.

  • Very nice. Thankyou.

  • @gangsterfromdaghetto - My pleasure.

  • great mix love it whats the second song called? and the last

  • @IanJamesG - Second song used in the splice is actually the first track on the official soundtrack, called 'Rock Island, 1931'. Final track used which ends with the choir is called 'Cathedral'.

  • so lovely

  • I think the score brought out my emotions during this movie more so than the film did itself. The haunting music made it that much sadder to me...

  • I have always LOVED this movie, especially because of the music. This collection of score sections helps me to appreciate it even more. I watched the movie again after a long time and heard music that I never even noticed before! Thanks!

  • @chrisjpf33 - That's nice to hear. Glad I could help you appreciate the soundtrack even more.

  • all of newmans scores sound pretty similar. But they are still badass.

  • damm the last seconds are nice

  • @markboyTHeBig - It's probably my favourite part of the splice. Even though the choir are not part of the last track on the official soundtrack, I think it concludes this splice perfectly. Thank you to everyone who has made comments on this particular splice. They're always appreciated. And a special mention to datatobe who has made a personal connection through his fatherhood. I wish everyone all the best...

  • @markboyTHeBig OMG is it ever, the whole collage of music is amazing but those last few minutes, really seal the deal :)

  • I bought the DVD many years ago and still play it from time to time, just listening to the amazing score. Beautiful, powerful and emotional music! Now I am a father and my son is 16 months old and it makes me want to listen to it even more.

  • @dadatobe me too, i used to put my dvd on and just leave it on the title menu, this song used to loop. i used to leave it on all night and go to sleep listening to it. epic movie, with an even more epic soundtrack.

  • Such a Great Soundtrack.... its beautiful; Tom Hanks is one of my Favorite Actors.... Rock on Tom

  • omg how beautiful

    1) youtube repeat dot com forward slash this link

    2) Newman is a beast, he has a heavenly mind to be able to create masterpieces like this

    3) This sound/movie to me was all about a father bottling up two opposing passions and desires. The desire of rage and revenge versus the desire to protect the purity and innocence of his son.

    4) Vebansen thank you for splicing this into one seamless track!

  • What is the name of the first one?

  • Beautiful, Powerful and Emotional, Love it !

  • bravo

  • simply powerful

  • This is simply a masterpiece of Thomas Newman no doubt in that.......every time i heard it,it reminds me a struggle against the odd,a relation between a father and a son........

  • Never has a soundtrack captured every emotion in this film. Thank you Mr. Newman for giving me a gift of listening to your masterpiece. It is so beautiful and brought hope for a father to realize how much he loved his son and didn't want him to follow in his footsteps in this film. The movie and music is truly moving.

  • This song made me wish for youtube to have a "repeat" option. I usually run this song in the background.

  • @ALEXANDER1318 Put it on a playlist and press play all on the playlist. Playlists keep repeating.

  • @guaranic Yeah, but sometimes the autoplay gets undone when the next song starts...

  • @ALEXANDER1318 I figured out why, if you aren't on the tab that has the video on it, it won't go to the next one. For example, you can't go on facebook and have it keep playing. Also, opening a new window for the video might fix it.

  • I am in complete awe of this masterpiece. Thomas Newman is ingenious. Brilliant!

  • Beautiful splice! One of the greatest soundtracks of all time!

  • Beautiful score from a masterful film.

  • I don't remember hearing this in Splice... anyway, beautiful song!

  • One of the greatest film scores in my humble opinion

  • verry beautifull indeed!

  • Great Music, great overall soundtrack
