Where did the term 'gesalt' come from?

It's actually "gestalt" with a hard "g" and the emphasis on the second syllable.

It's a German word meaning "shape" or "structure". It first entered English in the realm of Gestalt Psychology ( the shape of the mind as a composite).

In the US the pronunciation is simplified from German "ge-SCHTALLT" to "ge-STALLT." Diansys isn't a US English Speaker, which may explain his different pronunciation. The "JESS-alt" pronunciation I've never heard before.

'EXCELLENT point for a toy review: I hadn't thought of Computron's walking/mobility. Of all the G1 toys, Raiden's my fave', or maybe Liokaiser/Liocaesar, but I never had'm. I was VERY disappointed w/ Superion cos he should've had the cool arm-cannon and been much bulkier as in the show (esp. since he MIGHT be 1 of the strongest gestalts). All the others are GREAT though, except I wished Predaking had bigger armor pieces cos to me he actually looked incomplete.

Awesome review. 1 tiny point; in 'The Rebirth,' Snapdragon kicked a blue throttlebot. Lightspeed was mesmerised by Mindwipe who made him reverse over a cliff. Other than that, brilliant!

I was thinking about how it was possible that Grimlock could have built the Technobots without tools and raw materials. Well, Unicron was known to kill planets and digest them. In the movie, we see that several machines get picked up by claws and dropped in acid. Well, it's not impossible that some escaped right? So he probably re-configured them. And as for why they ended up in the head; well, if you want to disable something, wouldn't the brain be an ideal target?

The Dinobots never had a combined mode anywhere. Also, the "Scramble" gestalts were based on unused designs for Diaclone (although by time Computron came along he was most likely exclusively designed for Transformers but still following the same Scramble formula from the previous year), so the entire cartoon origin for Computron and personalities of the Technobots has _nothing_ to with the design of the toys.

yes i agree Cybertron was gettoe compared with the other shows. i was three when g1 was kind of on their last season. keep up with info on the tf toys.

the dinobots do have a combinor mode but its in the cartoon, its combined form is called the beast and is a monstrous creature alltogether, in the comics grimlock is actually quite intelligent and does eventually lead the autobots
