im not sure about the main part of Cambridge university but their engineering department is no where near what i expected, i've stayed in st catherines college and went to the engineering department which is separate to this main campus and i didnt feel like i was at cambridge university. although this main part with the old buildings does look pretty amazing

To anyone who comes from a working class or even middle class background, that think's that they have no chance of getting to Oxford or Cambridge University's,as they have a reputation that they are exclusively for the upper classes, well, my advice to you is work hard, have a strong and genuine passion for your subject and most importantly, study, study, study, study and study some more and some more ... as this is what will get you to these establishments. I did it. YOU CAN DO IT.

Thank you. I study music. And yes, it is so worth it, I studied SO much, about 8 hours a day as well as school, I got the very top results for my efforts but I wondered to myself if it was really all worth it and then I got excepted to study at Oxford and suddenly, all of the hard work paid off, Oxford and Cambridge are such amazing places to be, so, yes, it is DEFINITELY worth it. Good luck with your future and I hope that you can get accepted into either Oxford or Cambridge.

Cambridge and its colleges are easily more beautiful than Oxford in my opinion. Cambridge seems to have had more of a commitment to having beautiful modern buildings as well (and I include some of the sometimes unfairly derrided 1960s buildings). Punting along the Backs with the immaculate spacious lawns and the beautiful stone and brickwork you could be in Venice. It is cohesively laid out in such a way that it is like being in the grounds of an English stately home.

@lDieSmiling From day one your college becomes your second home, and all the other students come to feel like family! Everyone supports eachother and there are so many opportunities for socialising - we have lots of nice meals and there are some great nightclubs. It is so great to meet like minded people and you will quickly make friends for life. On top of that the city itself is beautiful, and the lecturers are world experts and you really get a first class education
