  • Ooh that's fucked up. I thought it was because they squint naturally.

  • There are a lot of special carvers here in Taiwan, but I haven't seen one at his level. It is nice to discover new things.

  • Is Mr. Chen using elephant ivory in his carvings?

China and Japan's black market ivory trade with Africa is causing the savage killing of thousands of African Elephants!

  • yup, he used one whole tusk to carve that 1mm tiger

  • @CDLver we care why? just watch the video

  • There is also a legal ivory trade conducted by park officials who sell confiscated store-holds obtained by raiding poacher warehouses.

The internet is no place for wild accusations!

  • Here's another wild accusation: There is no such thing as a legal ivory trade. All ivory is secured from elephants who were savagely murdered. Poachers, park officials, and other scumbags who have their hand in this despicable trade would like for the world to think the ivory was taken from elephants who've died in the wild not at the hands of poachers.

The Chinese are funding miserable ruthless killers!

  • CITES banned trade in Ivory in 1989. This so-called "legal" ivory trade you speak of, a trade vigorously opposed by Kenya, is the result of corrupt CITES delegates authorising

2 "one-off" sales of stockpiled African ivory to Japan and China, with the millions in proceeds supposedly going to African elephant protection.

The "one-off" ivory auctions created a market for the illegal poaching of thousands of elephants and a venue by which to launder that ivory. Period!

  • A lot of arguing going on but no one showing evidence he used Ivory.

Why doesn't this get discussed when someone submits something to prove he used Ivory in the first place?

  • @prilstrudel- it has to do with this video how.

  • wooooooo

  • For who? Me or you?

  • its beautiful

  • Nothing is priceless, except your face.

    Sorry, just kidding.

  • Huh...dis dude has ´ the eye of the tiger ´.

  • I have seen this in the Guiness Book of World Records- 2002 edition.

  • You're looking at the next ipod nano inventor lol.

  • Comment removed

  • just do a big one....

    so who will buy it?

  • actually, I watched a video about a man who did the exact same thing. However he carved more *patriotic* things like the Liberty Bell and Statue Of Liberty. Sold it all for 1.5million actually. All of which smaller than a grain of rice.

  • yeah he was on ripleys

  • Perhaps you failed geography.. but india is in asia... just thought i'd point that out.

  • trolled.

  • wow thats crazy

  • Wait...no, I lost it...

  • This is pretty win.

  • I was expecting the sculpture to look like a tiger. Not a booger.

Maybe they need better magnification to display the work of art.

  • he isn't doing an actual looking tiger, he's making more of the Chinese version with a face similar to that of their dragon.. Something like that at 1:17

  • @elSethro LOLOLOLOLOOLOLOLOLOLOKOLO

  • @elSethro

It IS 1mm. Learn to read...

  • @elSethro Failure of epic proportions. Simple math...Simple math. He was looking at the Tiger through a microscope probably why you thought it was 1 cm. If thats the case you Failed a reading.

  • @uexp4 just got these messages now...

you're right, I misread the sentence and didn't see the "0." in front of the "1 cm". inexcusable, I know.

thanks for your encouraging words, everyone.

  • lol ur idiot

  • ROFL .. 0.1 cm is 1 mm ...

guess wat .. i am very dissapointed ..

    u seem bad at maths . :p

  • Maybe it was a mistake. Everyone makes mistakes.

  • lol actually ya .. true ... my bad.. maybe i exaggerated ... sorry elsethro =)

  • by the way, that's why the European decimal system of counting is superior to the American "Imperial" system. it's easy to confuse "ounces", "gallons", "degrees Fahrenheit" - but the decimal system is strictly based on the number TEN ("decimus" meaning "the tenth" in Latin), and therefore it is very logical and easy to grasp.

    for most people.

  • Why'd you put Imperial in quotations? Is that supposed to be said in a sarcastic tone? What if I said European "decimal" system?

  • I put "Imperial" in quotations because 1776 the 13 colonies = the United States of America LEFT the British Empire. So why should they name their measurements after the British Empire when they no longer would be a part of it?

And today, even the British Empire itself has crumbled. The Decimal System on the other hand is named purely for mathematical reasons. Decimus meaning "the tenth" in Latin, so it does not have to be re-named.

There was no anti-American undertone intended by me.

  • The 'Imperial' system wasn't invented by the Americans, it was adopted, and they 'changed' the name of the system to: "US Custom" when they did adopt it, just for the sake of being different; its now called "Imperial and US Custom" because the rest of the world doesn't want to deal with the US's super-ego by calling it "US Custom".

Not saying the decimal system sucks, on the contrary, I like it much more. It actually makes sense.

  • Actually, I screwed up a bit:

Imperial was adopted by Americans, AND CHANGED, not just renamed. =P Scuse my pardons. XD

  • I had assumed no anti-American sentiment. I just found it peculiar that you would include quotations around that word. I still find it weird to do that. Going off the Latin, you wouldn't call it "Latin" simply because Latin isn't practiced as a contemporary world language.

Unless you do that. In that case, carry on.

  • LOL good point waltonky!

No I don't "quote" Latin, you convinced me, I will never use the quotation marks on "Imperial" again.

  • Do as you wish. I just thought it was an interesting linguistic choice.

For the record, I would like to say that I'm an American supporter of the metric system. I detest the current system because conversion is a pain in the ass. I'm not sure if 24-hour time is part of the metric system, but I prefer that as well. And I use yyyy/mm/dd as date format. I would argue for a metric calendar system as well but I'm pretty sure the French tried that long ago and it failed miserably.

  • yes the 24 hour time is part of the metric system, instead of the A.M./P.M. thing. for calendars, we write day-month-year in Germany, not month-day-year as in the USA. in French, there are irregularities in counting: 10 = dix 20 = vingt 30 = trente 40 = quarante 50 = cinquante (you see, basically the basic number times ten) 60 = soixante but then! 70 = soixante-dix (there is an older version septante) and 80 = quatre-vingt (= four times twenty)
  • (there is an older version, huitante but like septante you will find it only in old classic books)

90 = quatre-vingt-dix (four times twenty plus ten)

    now how crazy is that?!

Napoleon forced Europe under the rule of the decimal (metric) system in the early 1800's but he forgot his own motherland!

  • in Germany (if you're still with me), we've got another counting oddity.

13 = dreizehn (three plus ten)

14 = vierzehn (four plus ten)

15 = fünfzehn (five plus ten)

    and so on.

25 = fünfundzwanzig (five plus twenty)

95 = fünfundneunzig (five and ninety)

why not the other way round? from the larger number to the smaller one, as in English?

15 = fifteen (five plus ten) is the same as in German but for the higher numbers

25 = twenty-five (twenty plus five), more logical!

  • I find it interesting that there are several counting irregularities in languages. I spent two years learning Italian and their numbering scheme changes up in their teens.

    undici = one + ten

    ...

    sedici = six + ten

    then

    diciassette = ten + seven

And it continues like that. Also of note are rules concerning numbers ending in 1 and 8 (drop the last vowel of the number, e.g. venti, ventuno, ventitre). But this might be for linguistic ease since uno and otto begin with vowels.

  • my Italian is limited to the restaurant menu but I think you're right about the vowels, it's the same in French. interesting topic.

    nice to meet you waltonky!

  • In English, we used to say "four and twenty", for example, for twenty-four.

  • Hey, your right with the German numbers, but the logistics of it are more debate-able. There's probably a good number of Germans who think the English way is illogical. I'd guess its more of a question of what your used to seeing, you know.

  • yes, mostly. but for instance, when someone asks you for your telephone number, and you say it loudly (instead of writing it on paper), people can get confused.

1234 5678 you can say that as "twelve thirty-four, fifty-six, seventy-eight" for example, but because you say the smaller number first ("4" in "vier-und-dreissig" = "four-and-thirty" instead of "thirty-four") in German, people can and do sometimes get your number wrong.

well, the girl could have other reasons for that, too:-)

  • nice song
