@TheEnglishBadman mines 42weeks because im junior entry :/ but i think for standard entry they do both phase 1 and 2 up in ITC (infantry training centre) Cattrick, where i think phase 1 is 12weeks and phase 2 is 14 weeks, or the other way around. JE infantry go to carrtick for the phase 2 bit and Para's and Guardsmen stay for an extra 2 weeks for extra training in their respective trades, so jumping out planes and drill i guess.

I am fully aware of how Powerful the French army was (see first post 1.5 million men) but a military is made up of several combat arms, The most powerful Army means nothing without the other forces of a military to back it up.. specificaly the navy and in later days the Airforce... @TheEnglishBadman mines 42weeks because im junior entry :/ but i think for standard entry they do both phase 1 and 2 up in ITC (infantry training centre) Cattrick, where i think phase 1 is 12weeks and phase 2 is 14 weeks, or the other way around. JE infantry go to carrtick for the phase 2 bit and Para's and Guardsmen stay for an extra 2 weeks for extra training in their respective trades, so jumping out planes and drill i guess.

@ilias2oo6 France also didn't have the contraint of haveing to pay for a huge navy (around 50% of our expenditure in 1800) and had a bigger population (27 million comapred to the UK's 12 million)... It's not supriseing that the French army was much bigger and (1.5 million compared to 300'00 at each nations height).
However the french invasion in Wales defeated by a load of Church goers and a small local garrison is hilarious (french invasion of fishguard 1797)

As for the rest I disagree, I think man for man the British army is better then the French this is mainly due to battle experience but the French Navy is now better then the UK's, for a start it has a carrier and we don't technically have one anymore.
I'd also back the RAF over he French Airforce but our military and it's budget has shrunk so much in the last 40 years is actually fairly embarressing...
