  • Just finished this episode for the first time minutes ago, and I'm currently picking up pieces of my mind off the floor...

    Whoa.

  • Best Doctor Who moment ever. Still deciding whether or not Amy Ganger moment is up there with it.

  • so referring back to series 1. so jack is going to be expecting?????????????????????

or was that just planned before he was the face of boe. any one know

  • MIND, BLOWN.

  • I loved this scene

  • 1:36 I love how their reactions are synchronized.

  • I watched this whole series in order a few months ago and totally missed this connection. What an awesome moment to have missed! Epic.

  • Finally, now I get it

  • Well, they revealed the identity of River Song to me, why would Jack Harkness remain a mystery?

I should have really watched the show in the right order.

  • 3 people are upset that Jack isn't hot 5 billion years in the future.

  • That was the most suprising moment revolation in Doctor Who! When I first watched it I thought "You have to be kidding me!!!!" and "Jeez, Jack lived 5 billion years...".

  • My jaw literally dropped when I heard him say that

  • I legit fell off the bed. Best moment of revelation in DW :) so happy he was made a fixed point in space and time

  • I litterally rolled on the floor laughing my ass off! HAHAHAHA, thought I was gonna die xP

  • Mind was absolutely blown!

  • jack was only happy cause the doctor has a different girl everytime they meet

  • Its Like Jack is the future Doctor because the way he says i been call that before

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE! Such a brilliant moment!

  • my theory is:

Jack can not die by being killed, but it can of old age.

Remember that The Face of Boe gave his last energies to save the new earth, and my parachute, spent every last drop of the vortex energy of the TARDIS, while, when he was killed, the energy of vortex was still in his body, making it impossible to die.

  • @GabittaMorgan we know why jack cant die...he was made a fixed point in time its said in the show.

  • Ok, my theory...

Jack only comes back when he is killed, where as the face of Bo, died of old age.. Natural causes

Rose gave him life, too much of it, so he's immortal in the way of being killed, although it would make more sense, to say he linked with the tardis, when she dies so does him

  • So at what point does he become a giant head in a tank?

  • @yoshinibble123 and magically turns gets a huge ass nose?!

  • @nutscentedalien mutation side effect from the energy of this tardis...

  • I guess as a fixed point in space and time he is in every possible existence at all times?

  • Love their faces when he says the face of boe they called me. Just brilliant! When i first sore it i did a classic Dr Who What?! What?! What?! :D was awesome

  • i remember the first time i saw this. blew my freaken mind man!

  • Then how did he die as the face of boe?

  • @Funkytoad20 no Tom Baker is THE doctor and will be FOREVER

  • doctor logic:

"wait, it turns out the heroic savior of future earth who sacrificed himself and died tragically was my old companion and friend? LOL!"

  • My jaw hit the floor at this.

  • I think this should remain a theory for a long time. As Russell said himself, the day we find out wether this is true or false is the day that the joke, and the fun of it dies. I think one day we'll find out what will happen to Jack, but until that day, let the theories continue!

  • I just love how The Doctor bursts out NO at ~1:55.. LOL

  • I'll never forget when I first saw this... DIED LAUGHING!!!!! It was the most epic moment of my LIFE!!!!!.... okay no.. but seriously it was EPIC

  • I literally just laughed, typical Doctor Who moment.

  • If The Doctor did cameo on Miracle Day torchwood it should be David Tennant :-) I love Matt Smith but David IS the doctor and always will be

  • i have to keep replaying this video just to take it in D:

  • this was one of the most amaziing moments in the series!

  • Well i just hope BBC explains better the change of the aspect... Because e keeps getting hold but each time he die he kinda regenerates! His aspect shouldn't change that easy!

  • When I first saw this episode, I kept replaying the ending over and over...catching goosebumps, teary eyes, and smiles each time. This is just the most surprising thing ever! Such a mindfuck. I hope it's true O_o

  • 1:25 - aww, posterboy, that's cute...

    1:37 - *slowly disappearing smile* ?!?

xD ohh, gotta love this scene!!

  • goose bumps i get when i watch that, best moment from doctor who by far

  • One of my favorite moments on Doctor Who!!!

  • I just love the way that David and Freema's expressions change when Jack says "The Face of Boe, they called me." I rewound this video many, many times just to see their reaction over and over again =)

  • martha's face....WIN

  • This scence gives me chills, but I can't figure out how it's possible...

  • actually... i thought this was coming, the moment it was clear jack couldn't die...

oh btw: -JOHN!! HAVE YOU READ IT?? HAVE YOU READ IT???

    -not yet...

    -DAVID!!!!!!!!!!

    -what?

-I READ IT! I READ IT!!!!

  • Ohh, how I miss David Tennant ;(

  • 2 people don't have a face.

  • MIRACLE DAY IS HAPPENING AND WHERE ARE YOU DOCTOR?! Also Jack has that time portal thing in the new torchwood O.o

  • @TheAxeDecapitation You mean the Vortex Manipulator

  • Technically... the Doctor left Face of Boe after the supposed death. Maybe as the doctor traveled back, Face of Boe regenerated again.

  • @koji8123 That's the theory I have, if Jack is a fixed point and immortal, and he is The Face of Boe, then it should impossible for him to die. I think as he gets older, the time between each resurrection might get longer so it will be a while before he's back. But I always think to myself, Jack is immortal, so surely he can't die of old age. Which makes me think the Face of Boe theory will always be that, a theory.

  • @TheJWade93 I don't think its entirely possible for Jack NOT to be the Face of Boe. I just think that the Face of Boe didn't die. or that the Doctor left too early and missed the regeneration.

  • ...And then Miracle Day came ;)

  • Kind of ruins the idea that Jack could die in miracle day :/

  • @xemnas76 You never know, they contradict quite a bit sometimes. Then there is always time travel too, god knows

  • Would of been awesome if Jack says, "See you later old friend", as he walks away.

  • Does this mean mortal Jack in torchwood can't die yet?????

  • I watched this episode minutes ago, that literally made my day ten times better.

  • I don't get how he's the face of boe? Can someone explain?

  • @susanwilson13 fixed point in time causes him to live supposedly forever and apparently he morphs into that or maybe it was intentional to avoid suspicion, you know create idea of long living freaky alien face race, or it was complete coincidence your chose

  • @susanwilson13

His head gets chopped off in the future but he continues to live through modern science as "the face" . Also cos he is immortal

  • @seraphiccandy21 Then why does the face of boe die in a episode

  • @susanwilson13 he cause he gives up his life force to save thoughs people

  • @susanwilson13

well he is technically immortal but he just ages really really really slowly. He can live to be millions of years old but he does age.

  • I still love that moment!

  • But... the Face of Boe dies! That just makes me think of Jack dying officially and I cry!

"I kept thinking of that team of mine." Jack's lying. He kept thinking of Ianto :D

  • @TheDoctorEmily Noooo. He was thinking of gwen. I can't believe though, that he's the face of boe.

  • @ShannonTheTimelord He was definitely thinking of Ianto and no one can tell me otherwise -_-

  • What if he really isn't the Face of Boe and we all just got mind-flipped by Russell?

  • @Creekpaw He ain't no Moffat though. He's too good to us to troll us like that ;A;

  • @Creekpaw wouldn't be the first time, won't be the last.

  • @skuzzz She is not jacks daughter she is amelia and rory's daughter. melody pond.

  • @Scinlao the BOEshane peninsula.

  • Wow, from human captain to Zordon . . . Which one is better?

  • @Scinlao

He lived in the Boeshane Peninsula when he was a kid. So it's just a nickname, the "Face of 'Boe'"

    Boe short for Boeshane

  • This show just keeps on producing EPIC!!! :)

  • YES! ha! a twist that suprises even the Doctor. and he's hundreds of years old. i love it. this is why doctor who is the BEST SHOW EVER!

  • How the heck did he turn into a giant head?? I mean 5 billion years can do alot but still

  • @LarryTheWaterBalloon It's Doctor Who. Anything can happen.

  • Yeah see this just makes ruins the Face of Boe, to me it was the wise century years old creature with mysterious origins, now it's just Capt. Jack. There really was no reason to make him the Face of Boe.

  • @johnhamilton08 the fact that he was millions of years old allowed him to grow much more wiser, he watched the universe change around him and he changed both mentally and obviously physically

  • One of the greatest reveals in television history. I hope they don't go back on this in future episodes and try to write around it or rewrite it.

  • i steel dont belive it

  • I really hope sometime in the future(hehe) they answer how Jack mutates into what he ends up as.

  • @isnay2003

I'm quite sure it's cause of his aging process. Of course he ages slower than others but I guess even Jack can't look as good as he's looking now forever :)

  • Is this between Series 1 and 2 of Torchwood?

  • @surfer53

    Yes.

  • @surfer53 yes

  • when i first watched 1:35 ... i was like "OMFG WTF??!!"

and after 100 times... i still go "OMFG WTF" :P

  • No, definitely not...so Jack grows tentacles out the back of his head and is left bodiless?

  • I'm sure we all went-----> (O0O) when he said that. The best No-Freaking-Way-moment of all Doctor Who history.

  • @stsars13 noooooooo river being amy and rorys daughter ties with it!!!!

  • im not puzzled anymore XD

  • Comment removed

  • Officially Harkness is a theory for the origin of "The Face of Boe." Writer Russel T Davis refused to publish any spin off novels or comics making it official.

  • Favorite reveal ever.

  • my friend and I screamed so loudly when we watched this part. Brilliant writing.

  • Oh you gotta LOVE the facedrop :D

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for the great spoil :((((((((((((((((((((

  • This twist just blew me away, I was completely flabbergasted. I don't think I've ever been more shocked by a twist ever. Honestly. I love how the Doctor's Smile melts off his face when he hears it. Hehe.

  • hahahahahahah, martha's family is scarred for life..............

  • What is the Doctor referring to when he says 'You could go anywhere. Twice, second time to apologize'?

  • @JackHarkness95 He means going somewhere, stirring the shit and then coming back to apologize and fix it :).

    That is so Captain Jack.

  • how the fuck did those Boe things have sex?

  • how did he become the face of bo?

  • @SheWolf8765 Well Jack Cant Die, So I Guess Thats What You Look Like When You Have Seen And Done It All And Lived For Like A Million Years Lol

  • @JayyOneill Personally i think he can die.... he just cant be killed. Hence the end of gridlock his lifespan finally runs out completely. In the episode where rose brings him back... she says "i bring life" what if bringing life means she locks him in the timeline until a specific part... the doctor says she cant bring people to life like that. she was losing control of it at that point and maybe he cant die... until a unnamed specific point in time

  • @hiddenfrommemory Yeah I Agree, Everything And Everyone Dies In The End, Jack Just Had A LONG LONG Time To Wait LOL :)

  • @JayyOneill the prophecy had to be fulfilled... Rose (under the influence of the time vortex) said she could see "all that is, all that was, all that could ever be"... what if she saw the prophecy and locked him in the timeline until that point when he spoke his final words to the doctor

  • @hiddenfrommemory Possibly, But Than Again Seeing All, And Modifying It Is A Different Story, Would She Had Enough Power Too Do All That, But Thinking About It If She Had Seen The Doctors Future Why Was She Always Taken By Surprise? Bad Script Writing Or Did The Future Change From What She Had Seen? Soo Many Questions LOL

  • @JayyOneill I dont think at the time she was fully herself. Its almost like the scene with donna. she had all that knowedge and the doctor had to remove it from her for her her own safety. both times they had the vast knowledge of the time vortex in their head it burned both of them up... just in different ways (donna being part of the spontaneous biological metacrisis and rose looking into the heart of the time vortex) Rose's was reversbile but donna's wasnt

  • @JayyOneill She was under the infleunce of the time vortex... similar kinda of thing to donna.... it was burning her up so the doctor had to removed the knowlegde and power from her mind because it was killing her, burning her up

  • @hiddenfrommemory But Rose Carried On Traveling Afterwards, If That Was The Case She Would Have Had Too Go Home So Not Too Remember Just Like Donna Because He Didnt Remove The Knowledge He Just Made Donna Forget About It All

  • @hiddenfrommemory could capt. jack survive this "burning"? also when the doctor needed to escape the family of blood he put his timelord mind into a fob watch why didn't he do the same with "the doctor donna"

  • @cooldaddyjames2814 if you remember at the end of that episode he gave his fob watch to the boy who took it in the first place so he no longer had it

  • @hiddenfrommemory so he couldnt put it in something else?

  • @cooldaddyjames2814 The stopwatch was specific... if it could be done dont you think he would have? besides she wasnt a pure time lord. probably wouldnt have worked

  • @cooldaddyjames2814 WElll probably not because the chameleon arc re-writes a pure time lords Dna to make him human and replaces that back to him when he wants to convert back. donna being human and part time lord... im not sure it would work the same way.

  • and she was human. wasnt fully time lord

  • He is pregnant with River Song. Thats who River is, Jack Harkness' daughter

  • @PattleProductions and how is that bad? use your common sense lol

  • @Scuzzz did isat it was bad? i have no idea what ur on about :S

  • @Scuzzz When did i say it was bad?

  • @PattleProductions River keeps saying that it's going to be bad when the Doctor finds out.. what's so bad about her being Jacks daughter lol?

  • @Scuzzz Oh right sorry lol! who do you think it is? Also it may not seem bad, but theres always a twist in Dr.Who isnt there?!

  • @PattleProductions possibly The Rani or the little girl that's in the astronaut suit as Steven Moffat said we'd see her as a child this series

  • @Scuzzz I thought she might be the girl in the suit too yeah

  • it would be nice to see a female captain jack in an episode of torchwood. they could make it so she came from another dimension

  • noooo.... srsly???

    wow, thats just weird..

  • Oh my god, that place at the start I've been there and I never realised it.

    It's cardiff bay!

  • @miltonluvsno1 Doctor Who is recorded in Cardiff?? You're kidding me!!

  • @wigster1978 Yeah this video is in cardiff! go on google maps and look at the bay, its defo the place.

  • @wigster1978 No, but torchwood is.

  • as a fixed point in time how could he have died or turned into a big headed gas sucking thing?

  • @metalugist7 Well over the years he probably did all kinds of things to avoid being trapped in a useless body, so whatever tech he used obviously changed him, and as for the dying part, he kept that city of people alive for centuries using his own life force, so naturally all that drain on the energy that kept him alive was too much and he died.

Plus there is the possibility that he lived, but didn't regenerate until after the Doctor left, and he just needed a longer time to do it by then.

  • @MJ0428 definatly agreeing with you there he aparently has so much life that he can also kill a monster that feeds on life force by force feeding it.

  • @metalugist7

whose to say he died? It usually takes a while for Jack to resurrect. The doctor could have left before it happened.

  • @mrwho995 isn't that what MJ0428 said?

  • @metalugist7 He mutated with age. He still ages so that's what happened after living so long

  • @IronMarz52 so say i live for millenia and my reward is my rear slowly shooting into my head and tentacle dreads sprouting from my face?? can't f***ing wait!

  • @metalugist7 Bwahahahaha! XD You're funny :P

  • awww, how i love davids laugh at the end

  • does any one else think Miroku of Inuyasha, when they look at Jack Harkness? lol

  • For such a skinny guy, he's got the biggest laugh.

  • I so love their faces changing at 1:37! XD

  • David tennant should be the twelve doctor! He really didn't want to die so I think he will come back and that whole timelord victorious thing will happen. Timelord victorious was awesome.

  • I have always wondered if jack would be able to evolve after millions of years and apparently he can, but why a giant head is beyond me.

  • I thought jack didn't age wasn't he in ww1 or 2? and he cant ever die he is a fixed point in time and space right? So if he is the face of boe he would still come back or be reborn?

  • thanks to netflix I started watching this show. I lost my shit when I saw this. It was soo bad ass!

  • Writers: Okay guys, we've got all dialogue written, the episodes about done, but we won't be seeing Jack for awhile and I feel we've been low on our mind fuck quota so any ideas-

Russel T Davies: Jack is the Face of Boe....later...

  • On Satelite Five The Bulletin Said The Face Of Boe Has Given Birth, Could It Be River Song And In The Empty Child, Captain Jack Had A Sonic Blaster And In Silence In The Library, River Song Had It, Also, In The Pandorica Opens Hes Says I Said Of the Rist So Captain Jacks Hand Is Cut Of!

  • The first time I saw this, I very nearly had a heart attack! As a writer, there's very little that surprises me anymore - I generally guess the twist before they announce it. But this was brilliant!!! It caught me completely by surprise and had me screaming at the screen! Russell T. Davies is a GENIUS!!!

  • @maryliz98 Not really, he killed off Ianto and lost a LOT of viewers as a result.. xD

  • @YOURBLEACHSTOP Well, it stinks that he did that, but I've never really watched Torchwood.

  • I have to say, without any question, that David Tennant is my favorite Doctor, and always will be. He is the best.

  • brilliant.

  • David Tennant and John Barrowman are such wonderful actors, any scene with those two together ends up brilliant (particularly the one in Utopia in the radiation room. Credit to the writers for Jack and the Doctor's relationship too! One of the best bits of the show :)

  • It's amazing, cause you can see how Jack lives as much as he can, and helps so many people, and he seems so much like a rebel with that great attitude....but then he asks the doctor if he can help him, if he'll ever be able to die. In that moment, you look into his eyes, and you can see how desperate he is.

You can see the sorrow and the misery of never dying, always watching, and you can see how it's a curse as much or more as its a blessing.

And to go through 5 billion years of that...

  • And you know they were laughing because they knew what he would look like after 5 Billion Years, Lol :) not exactly his idea of handsome.

Maybe that's why there's only a head left by then, he sacrifices the rest of his body to preserve his handsome face as long as possible and then that was it???

  • Pretty much my favorite scene in the series!

  • Omg just love this show and it's twists!!

  • Comment removed

  • @sebastian1313 after looking it up in that episode somewhere they mention how that news channels reporting was very unreliable

  • @panzrocks123 point 4 you XD

  • @sebastian1313 Well, it's Captain Jack.

  • @sebastian1313 My theory in that is that a paradoxy-thingy(for lack of a better phrase)was responsible.Originally imo FoB was an actual alien, but when Rose brought Jack back to life in "Parting of the Ways" Jack was unable to die and thus BECAME FoB.

  • @sebastian1313 Well....Captain Jack's......duality when it comes to sexuality is known, and besides alot can happen in 5 Billion Years Lol :)

  • @sebastian1313 in the first episode of torchwood, jack mentions that he doesn't want to get pregnant ever again.I just wonder who get jack pregnant:he flirts with anything that moves.
