@snowsniper8 - Absolutely, I just prefer the 357 because it is more miserly on lead and powder and components are more scavengable than the 44 Mag version.
@MajorPandemic thanks, i also might get the 357 version though because i plan to get a ruger gp100 in the future. and the 357 is alot cheaper for the non reloader. the only reason i was even considering the 44 is because the ruger 77/357 is almost impossible to find in canada!! i might have to wait a while to get one or just go with a marlin.
thanks for the great detailed review, I'm gonna try and get both the 77/357 and 77/44. I'm just wondering if there would be any difference in performance from the lever action and the bolt action, I don't care about the rate of fire or ammo capacity just the bullet performance; like velocity and accuracy. would it perform better out of the bolt action? thanks
@Opi07 - It is kind of an apples to oranges comparison, however my iron sighted Henry Big boy 357 will hold slightly tighter groups than my Ruger 77/357 and the Big Boy has a longer barrel which should provide increased velocity. That said the Bolt action in theory should be more accurate and the 77 series are way lighter and handier in brush than the Henry.
@KonradKlemmer - Will do, right now I am working with both a Skinner rear peep sight and the NECG sight to figure out the right front sight height. I have a .520 Williams Firesight on it however it looks tall and I have not had a chance to to the re-sighting.
I wish ruger would start cranking those out, I can't wait to get my hands on one,
Can you make a shooting video? I saw that you cast lee's 158 gr, same thing that I cast. Let us know how they whoot out of that rifle, because that's my main 357 bullet.
Fantastic video man! Thanks. My wife has me on a one gun a year program and this one's really speaking to me for some reason. I guess because, like you said, it's just practical for all kinds of purposes. It's also nice to plink in the woods with a bullet that has some power, but that you know won't whip through the forest for a mile.
hi im thinking about getting one of these except in 44 magnum. do you think the 44 vershion will be just as good as a survival gun? thanks!

which one you you recoment for me? the 44 or the 357? ill be using it for deer all the way down to rabbits and racoons.

@snowsniper8 - The 44 MAgnum is doable for smaller critters but I would go with 357 Mag which can take down deer humanely.

The ONLY thing keeping me away is the $800 MSRP. Hopefully I can find a shop that will do a bit better than that.

Nice rifle, but I would have preferred they brought back the Model 96 lever rifle in .357

hows the recoil, cause i love recoil LOL.........Love .357 Rifles and there not here in Aus yet and am looking at getting one.

@gshdrums - Very little recoil even with 357 rounds. Nice shooting rifle.
MajorPandemic 4 months ago
@gshdrums If you like recoil then you might want to look into the Ruger 77/44. It's a nice rifle that really hits hard.

Hey if you get that NECG sight all installed and end up with a new front blade will you let us know what height you used?

@KonradKlemmer Hmm I think you should do some negotiating... two purses a year and a couple pairs of shoes for a two gun a year program lol.

Thanks for the review bud...Really wish I could put my hands on one of these, I think it'd be a great companion to my GP100.
