I visited Cornwall once. It was very sunny and warm. The people are very nice. At night they chant invocations to the moon and summon the spirits of darkness. They like to hold orgies which anyone is free to participate in. No-one works and they all laze about during the day drinking beer. At the summer solstice they build a wickerman in which they burn an innocent tourist. Cornwall is a lovely place which I plan to visit often.
The children in Cornwall are now being taught this as part of their Cornish language training:
Kernow yw konna tyr orth penn Breten Veur. Kernow yw bro geltek ha Kernewek agan yeth.
I don't know of many 'counties' with their own language but since the Sawsnecks here know so much, perhaps they would care to translate what I have written. After all, 8 year olds can in our schools.
Emmet comes from the Old English aemette, which developed one way into "ant", and elsewhere as emmet, which survived as a dialect wordand first recorded in the tourism sense from the mid 1970s. I think fletch2002 is only saying what the chap in the video says in the first seven seconds - its best to go on holiday in the "off season" when there's less hustle and bustle. Not a racial slur, it is probably fitting enough as a description of busloads of tourists on whistle-stop tours.
It's a slang word that has pretty much entirely replaced the word 'tourist' and doubles up as both an offensive jipe and also a pleasant/neutral word for anyone who doesn't live in Cornwall.
You're welcome. "Bongalie" serves much the same purpose in some parts of the Highlands. I'm sure other areas will have an equivalent word to describe the same phenomenon.
@fletch2002 It's okay if he doesn't understand... the empire 'mentality' clouds one's ability to comprehend boundaries, ethics, dignity, respect, honour, culture/ethnicity etc......... Attempting to teach children of the 'empire' respect for history/race/culture must be as difficult as trying to take a hooker out on a romantic date.
@celticcornish ---- spot on. They had to sit up and take notice of us though back in 1991 for all of us who can remember Twickenham and a sea of Black and Gold....

The English should listen to one of their own, William Camden 1607:-
"As for those Cornwallians...they stoutly bent all their force together in defence of their Countrey".
On behalf of all the Cornish, we rest our case.

I used it in the latter context.
Thankyou UISTMAN59.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Isn't Normandy your nation, Sir Fletcher of the Conquest. When are you going to take your emmet arse off the British Isles.

Isn't that a bit harsh for an intellectually endowed counter-revolutionary who doesn't hate anybody based on where they are from.
