@simbafreak Don't know why this is astonishing. Clicker training has been applied to all sorts of species of animals. And parrots are far more intelligent/capable than dogs so it shouldn't be surprising at all.

@simbafreak Clicker training was actually first used on dolphins. It works much better with animals that need to be "asked" instead of "told".

@Nickmorama well, the point is it is a trick, and tricks are very important and keeps them from biting, like if they are about to bite, you say the trick and they will do that instead of biting. Plus, tricktraining is a fun thing for both the owner/s and the bird. If you have nothing nice to say, don't say it all.

duke is an albino parakeet! its a very pretty color!

Actually he's not albino. He is a dark eyed clear which is basically a blue and white budgie without any blue. Albino's have red eyes but Duke's are black.

id assume Ladder perch + some type of base + smooth surface + super glue?

Basically. Just sanded 1/4" plywood down to 400 grit. Cut the pieces to the right dimensions and used CA glue. It doesn't have to be that smooth because the angle makes it hard to grab on. The biggest problem I had for the first week of teaching this to both birds is that they learned to jump onto the side rail and walk down it instead of sliding. I had to do a lot of work with them to get them to understand that they have to slide down instead of making their way down any way they like.
