  • thats awesome

  • SUPER...!

  • Is it just me, or does it looks like a nuclear bomb going off?

  • dude, is ur area mountanious and is that the reason of that updraft?

  • @anasbinqamar

Based on the fact that this is in Iowa, I doubt its very mountainous. The updraft is just because the air is that unstable.

  • super !

  • that overshooting top is amazing and you can tell it's a supercell from the rotation and how long it doesn't weaken or dissipate.

  • Amazing!

  • wow i see the cap breaking at 0:16

  • holy cow that was just like BAM.

  • Amazing !

  • ESPECTACULAR.

  • why did the storm get shorter? or did it move farther away?

  • @RoSs3897 Hi, yes the storm is moving away from the camera to the south and east of the camera.

  • Is this on Mars? I've never seen such things.

  • awesome overshootin top

  • very nice storm cumunolimbus capillatus incus very good :D

  • Amazing cumulonimbus...

  • @elleiver you mean supercell anvil mostly, supercells are called convection

  • I love seeing storms backbuild. It's always amazing when they shoot up off each other that fast.

  • You got to love the time lapse! You got lucky, you didn't have any annoying clouds blocking the storm. Great Job!

  • Nice capture :-)

  • it looks like its bubbling

  • is that all you get?!? Almost every video is convection and thunderstorms. you are sooo lucky i wish southern california got as much convection in the spring. We'll make up for it this summer

  • love how the cap breaks at :16 secs. Beautiful

  • actually the overshooting top in supercells can exceed 50,000 feet and reach 57,000 - 60,000 and slightly breaking through the stratosphere

  • tropopause?

  • A nice Cumulonimbus Anvil cloud time lapse

  • Thank you soooooo much!!

  • i saw 3 clouds thats looks like this in 1 evening!!!!!

  • call boil cloud. lol At the top of thin cloud could be boil cloud

  • What is the altitude at the top of the storm, where the cloud flattens out?

  • It's probably around 50,000 feet, the top of the troposphere

  • :O amazing

  • One of the best on youtube

  • This is the most spectacular footage I've seen of a time-lapsed supercell and how much you can appreciate it at this speed due to the growth. It's also the only time you can really see the driving force of the upper level jet steering it E-NE. Great footage!!

  • when I saw this video the first time, i had a supercell heart attack!!! i am not kidding! I heart the midwest, although i've never been there... -_-

  • wow, look at that! an anvil just pops right out at :05, then another anvil forms at :14,

then at :16, an overshooting top just explodes! then you could see a thunderstorm forming right next to that! 5 stars.

  • Wow, that is amazing. I wonder what provided that extream convection in the film. Was a cold front moving into some moist warm air and the warm air shot up into the cold air? Was it a dryline senario? And there had to be a funnel on this beast. the amount of low pressure in that storm had to suck somthing up from the ground.

  • The birth of a thunderstorm!!!!!

  • This was so cool. You can see the overshoot.

  • Incredible view at :16 seconds the supercell cycles where the updraft "punches" above the tropopause / equillibrium (anvil) level!

  • there had to be at least a funnel spawned from that beast

  • duh that's a super cell!!if you loook at what the clud looks like at one minut and then go to the next min, you will see it grew a lot so it's a super cell.

  • Did that form a supercell?

  • this is about as classic of a supercell storm as it can get. rapid explosion and a beautiful overshooping top so yes it did.

  • This footage illustrates perfectly what a beautiful show mother nature plays to us if we only open our eyes to see it. Thanks for posting this, I love it!!
