Gambling is a Sin

Does playing games like poker on facebook which is played for free with virtual chips/money constitute as gambling even tho real money isn't used? Poker on facebook is just an example, there are many on-line gambling games that only use virtual free money and played just for fun, is playing just for fun a sin?

i have gambled infrequently, and won a small amount of money, and had a good time doing it. i don't believe i am a sinner.

Gambling is not a sin, gambling is a risk. Don't Muslims gamble on their version of god being the correct one, just like any other belief? Why don't you apply the same logic to Islam that you apply to gambling, that you could loose (be wrong)?

In one Islamic lecture I was hearing a while back, the lecturer spoke of how a man in America bet himself and his family for some money and he lost and ended up going to his house, killing his wife and children and then killing himself.

Allah knows best, but I can be certain that there are few hadith about situations like these. Because gambling has been with us, for too long and the present day world amuses itself and give false dreams for the people, to get rich easily. Peace.
