  • Downton Abbey to a T!

  • As well as playing 6 characters ,who interact with each other, what amazes me is how well its seamlessly put together. It took me awhile to get the joke of the asking for fairy cakes and being given rock-Hudson.

  • unbeleivable, so witty and cleverly parodied. thanks so much for posting!

  • brilliant, great posting!

  • People who like upsters downstairs can you have a look at my show DAYS GONE BYE it is very mute like upsters downsters please lever a comment on if you think it is good or not

  • Stanley Baxter is surely one of the greatest comic geniuses of our time. I had not seen this for at least 30 years yet it still makes me cry with laughter. I believe his extravagant skits became too expensive to produce on TV in the end which is a crime considering the rubbish we are subjected to these days. Absolutely priceless and way ahead of his time! Love you Stanley.

  • He does Mrs Bridges better than Mrs Bridges. Wonderful.

  • yes some funny stuff just a big fan of British shows .

  • OMG!!!! This is too funny!!! ROFL!!!!

  • What makes it doubly entertaining is that it was done on the actual set with the real costumes and props. Hilarious..."This is Rock...Hudson"

  • "Scallops to you" and "Sir Richard was no Snob" - nearly passed out laughing. Ha Ha

  • "...Sannnnnnnndringham!" Brilliant!

Can anyone remember a spoof of the Cointreau ad Baxter made? Is it on Youtube anywhere?

  • How old is this? The parts of Hudson and Mrs. Bridges were very well done.

  • 35 years old. It was an incredible achievement considering the technology they had at the time. They were barely able to edit videotape in those days.

  • I liked the Cicely Courtneidge joke that she would never last. She was active in theater, film and television for what? 40 years? More?

  • Stanley Baxster is a brilliant man!

  • Stanley Baxter is a legend - and this spoof of Upstairs Downstairs is a pure joy - this man shoud be a SIR

  • What can I say?...Brilliant!!

  • this is the height of brilliance. I laughed so hard that I literally.... LITERALLY... wee'd my shorts!!!!

  • THIS IS HILARIOUS!!

  • "This is Rock Hudson" - creased myself laughing. The man was an amazing Mimick.

  • Yeah that got me too :-D Man is a comedy genius, up there with the other greats, Ronnie Barker, and Les Dawson etc...

  • i remember this show when we lived in England real nice .

  • What an astonishing talent! Stanley looked and sounded more like the people he portrayed than they did themselves. God, what a man!

  • he looks like queen mary the queens grandmother

  • Brilliant Mrs B - spot on!

  • This is Rock, Hudson. Genius!

  • carrick63=FAIL!! guess what? Mr Baxter has created a brand new xmas special for ITV 2008!! lap it up!!

  • Mr Baxter wouldn't get on TV nowadays - he has TALENT. His 'Annals of Scotland Yard' has the greatest line said by an usherette to a policeman. I have Dennis Bergkamp's autoggraph - I only want Stanley Baxter's now. Both true 'genius'.

  • ITV1's christmas special 2008, highlight of the season, the top show is... Stanley Baxter... funny ol' world =8¬)

  • Absolutely brilliant. I've got the whole series of "Upstairs Downstairs" on video and it's so close to the real thing. Stanley Baxter is phenomenol. His Dame Edith Evans and Sir John Guilgud are astoundingly real.

  • My parents wached these shows on the Icelandic television 30 years ago.

  • Oh My God. I was in the floor the minute Lady Morjorie started in!!!

  • OMG! ROTFLMBO!

Thank you so much for this post. Here was the BEST and FUNNIEST man in the whole of Scotland!

He didn't mind putting on a dress and some make up - all for the love of the stage...

    R.I.P.

  • Stanley's not dead yet! His series was cancelled the BBC and Thames due to the high production costs. He's currently starring in a radio play on Radio 4 this week.

  • Wonderful, thanks for posting.

  • Panto in Glasgow was the best!! But these clips are just awesome....he was such a talented guy...

  • we was soooo funny. i loved him .

  • This is classic, wonderful. Anybody who has more Stanley Baxter stuff, please put it on YouTube, its so funny and he was so clever.

  • Well, for all you Stanley Baxter fans, I've uploaded 'Fast Food Follies for you....wheck out in my vids

  • priceless!!!

  • A wonderful parody - as an UpDown' enthusiast I've always liked it! Mr Baxter captured Rose's prissiness well. The Upstairs characters don't work quite as well however.

  • I will always remember the pantos in Glasgow - the best!

  • ROFLMAO...I've been looking for this.

  • excellent!

    what would ladt marjorie say!

  • Stanley Baxter we love you ! take care

  • wonderful - has anyone got the Miss Penny - Cillin sketch where he comes down the giant syringe ??

  • Hey love to see Stanley do the Queen speech if anyone can remember that one?

  • I think he is excellent. I was stood next to him at a bus stop in Hampstead on Sunday (4th Feb) he was a lot smaller than I thought. He kept smiling at my friends little girl. Very funny man. Long live Stanley!

  • Hi,

Apparently he travels by bus everywhere and is often seen, as is Leslie Philips.

Tv is much less fun without him!

  • He's fantastic, truly the best. I've just bought his 2 DVD sets from Amazon.

  • MOST AMAZING comedian bar NONE!!!!!!!!!

  • I love Stanley Baxter. He's fucking brilliant. Have you got any more? I loved his Shirley Maclaine in the towering inferno.

  • WONDERFUL! I do wish someone would post all those fabulour musical numbers he used to do in his annual tv show.

  • I'll try to add some when I get a few spare hours!

  • absolutely brilliant.

as entertaining and clever now, as it was then.

  • i remember this from when i was a kid wonderful

  • Oh thank you for posting this. I used to have it on VHS and can't find it now! Brilliant :-)
