  • I doubt she was really like that to Queen Katherine though, Mary was for Henry and Katherine and despised Anne Boleyn. Also, Katherine was not that staunch; come on!

  • Ah, it brings back memories! I used to dance la Volta when I was at university, in the Renaissance Dance club. Couldn't do it now, alas! It included a bit more galliard, a bit less hugging, though. :-) Isn't Glynis Johns gorgeous?

  • @greatraven1 I love period dancing. I got to do some when I was civil war reenacting. Hoop skirt and all :)

  • is there anyway i can see the whole movie? im very interested!

  • @starflower17 I can see what I can do about that.

  • @LoreneFaith Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

  • @starflower17 I sent you a message. Let me know if that helps.

  • She seems to say, "Maestro, strike up the band!" I think "La Volta" is related to the "Spanish Panic" in "Once Upon A Mattress".

  • love the Volta

  • Lov ethe volta !

  • Thanks for posting a scene where we can see a young Mrs. Banks. Despite her other roles in films, Glynis Johns must be known as who starred in Mary Poppins

with that role. It is her signature role, I think.

  • CD: Film Music of Clifton Parker

Tracks: Sword and the Rose: Galliard & Sword and the Rose: Volta

  • what is the name of this piece? (the actual song, not the dance) can it be found on itunes?

  • @wubawubas I wish I could help you with that but I have no idea. Does anyone know what the name of the song that is being danced to in this scene?

  • @wubawubas

I think they are original compositions by the composer Clifton Parker who did the music for the film. They're only called by the dances used, so the first is Galliard, the second is Volta.

You can find them in a compilation on amazon: Film Music of Clifton Parker

Listen to the samples to verify for yourself. ;) Hope this helps.

  • I love Katharine of Aragon's blue gown.

  • ive been looking all over the place for this crazy thing!! they were playing part of it at the disney museum and i was like "what the heck! i need to find that!"

  • It is one of those rare and not too well known gems in the Disney collection :)
