My God, Diana sounds horrible. She jus cannot sing rock music. Flo blew her away and she was in the background. I don't know why Gordy tried to make her a rock singer (This, and you keep me hangin on) when she is strictly pop. Flo would have work this song.
i have to say that i did not like this version i think i will stick to listening to Devo's because it just seems more funky and enjoayble to listen to.
Well that is debatable. Devo's acclaimed version in 1978 was the first. Well when I was 10.. lol I was then alittle put out at the stones for infringing on my song.. lol
Devo's acclaimed version in 1978 was indeed an admirable version, and was actually recorded in honor of one of their mentors, the venerable Dr. Charles Follen McKim Maloney of Scotland, arguably one of the most influential behind-the-scenes gurus of his time.
Personally I think this song would have had WONDERS done to it if Flo or Mary had sung lead. It needs a powerhouse or sultry voice out in front. It's the exact opposite kind of song from, say, "Where Did Our Love Go," which sounds perfect with Diane leading.
I agree. You, either, needed that smokey sound that Mary could provide or that powerful Southern Gospel grit that Flo could do. Diane sings too pretty and songs like this need that smokey sound or that grit.
Soz for the short hiatus - my parents stopped ne from using the internet because I kept missing the bus for school :( LOL
Vids are coming...I'll just have to KEEP YOU HANGIN' ON till you CAN'T GET NO SATISFACTION and you'll beg me to STOP! IN THE NAME OF LOVE while wondering...WHERE DID JLG GO? LOL I can be so cheesy =P
It's so bubblegum koochy-kooooooooo! It's almost as bad as letting Carol Brady, Shirley Partridge and Lola Folana due a swinger-roo jinga-janga in those stupid white go-go boots, eyelashes like a spider and white lipstick...yuck!!! Gayer than gay!

WOW. Let's hope we NEVER hear it again! Poor old Keith Richard's is rolling over in his grave!...wait is he dead or alive? Oh I forgot he's the "living-dead"...a "ZOMBIE" to be specific!

@carolinaguy321Thats why this is an outtake. Besides most people perfectly "Satisfied" with "Hangin on", as all other people who made it #1.

I wonder what this would have sounded like if Mary or Florence had done lead?
SinclairisCool 1 year ago 2
Mary or Flo would have sounded TOO SEXY (without even trying) So Diana was just the "safer" voice to interpret it.

@rioboy13
lol . . too true. I could imagine Flo doing this though.

Arrrrgh! Not one of the better renditions of this song. The only thing worse is how Phyllis Diller butchered it.

Boy; this shows BG's desperation to have DR do ANYTHING lead...
Thanx for the post Missy-Shu; this displays DR at one of her whiniest and cattiest vocal moments -

The Rolling Stones may have lasted longer but in the sixtie's The Supremes had more hits(especially #1 hits)and sold more records than they did.

I LOVE this. Diana puts some effort in, and Mary and Flo (especially) add some real rock and soul in there lol
