you can hate on this lineup all you want, and you can say we're here just because of Slash's old stuff. To me, Axl is why I have always loved GnR. His lyrics and singing are what made GnR unique. Sure Slash played the solos, but Izzy and Axl wrote almost all of it. Sure I may know BBF because of GnR, but simply as a musician, Ron is almost untouchable by ANYBODY. Especially Slash.

sweep picking is stupid if it's overused. otherwise it's just a technique, just like slide, bend, and tap and it depends how you use it.
