  • such a great tune!!

  • Its funny, usually there's a trade-off in peoples' skill sets where they excel at one or two things and are average at others... I guess that doesn't apply here.

  • Criticizing this guy's music is like telling Leonardo Da Vinci he used the wrong shade of brown. He is an absolutely amazing artist!!!!!

  • the lyrics arent as fine as the should but when they put togeder music and lyrics is freakin awesome

  • Fantastic to see you singing up a storm on a great song. Keep doing it all mate. You got a fan here...good music is good music. Every other argument is redundant. :)

  • he justin i really like ur music! u got very good skills with the guitar! do u play christian music too? anyway ur very gifted blessings to u dude!

  • Dude word to that last comment justin. Keep goin man you have so much potential it makes me sick haha.

  • isn't this called "BAILING the Titanic"? hehee

  • @victorialantz corny

  • Loving music is not about narrowing yourself into a small box and rejecting everything outside of it. I want to embody multitudes and contradictions... Who really cares about being a "guitar icon"? That sounds kind of lame actually--and a bit boring and small. I think I would rather learn how to play the cello a little better or get better at painting.

  • hey justin you're absolutely right. People just got to do what they love, not what others want them to do.

What up with your music now btw? Working on any projects?

    greetings from the Netherlands

  • I know exactly what you mean. I'm a musician myself and I'm in it for the music. Listening to different genres of music expands you're knowledge as a musician. And to those that say that this is "generic" music, I'd have to disagree.

  • that what I'm talking about!

  • @MrJustinguitar

    beautifully said :)

  • @MrJustinguitar I with you man... keep doing whatevery you want...

Music forced into a certain style dies like a bird ina closed jar... when music can't fly where ever it wants... it isn't real music anymore... it no longer has what makes it great and wonderful.

  • Hey, this is Justin. I would like to make the comment that music is more than the instrument it's played on or how complicated or fast it's played. I find the same release/beauty in an acoustic guitar as I do in a wall of electrics or a pump organ or a drum set or vibraphones, etc.

  • not really my cup o' tea, very generic. The acoustic was unique, thats what made it interesting.

  • Totally agree with you and that one dude. We've heard this sort of thing before.

  • Justin King is amazing. you should hear his song called phunkdidfied

  • Knock On Wood & Crown too.

Also he's not a bad singer also, check out his song called Change.

  • Hey im from Costa Rica and im tired of looking musid of JK.. Someone with this incredible music?? Huge fan!!!

  • To all of you idiots out there who think Justin King is playing this type of music for money... he isn't. Otherwise he would've signed the contract for Sony, instead of turning it down. Have you seen the video of him with the hefty stack of papers, he was supposed to read and sign? If you've been following him for as long as I have, you'd understand that he has his solo music project as well as this full band project; both of which are sprouting from his OWN creativity and talents.

  • Anyone else think that Alejandro of Boyce avenue sounds like him?

  • It's a good sound... nice work Justin

  • anybody have the tabs for this

  • music is about expressing yourself. whether it is this or his tapping he is expressing himself in the way he wants to. he isn't a sell out

  • i like it. But i like his tapping on the acoustics too. hes just good at everything he does.

  • Pretty good song. Sounds good to me. Better than a lot of stuff going on radio these days.

  • Seriously, this kinda thing is a dime a dozen. Sooooo overly american sounding,at least his acoustic stuff actually stood out! This is a huge step backwards musically but a massive leap towards a big bank balance. Cant say i blame him for chosing this route though. Fair enough.

  • totally agree

  • Not really a step, I think this was always his music. His other playing just made him popular. So it's not a direction, you just places your own version of him onto him. Not his problem that you misinterpreted him. :P

  • Thanks for that little pearl of mispronounced wisdom Jest.

    Anyone else smell bullshit???

Its a step backwards because he's gone from being a stand out guitarist to something that sounds a lot like The Calling & all that other shit. Get over it & move on.

  • Ah your right that got a bit jumbled when I typed it. I'm just saying that he's just doing what he's always been doing. Creating music, He'll still play acoustic. It's not a direction, not a step up, down, backwards, forwards. You're perfectly welcome to dislike it. honestly, I don't like it. I prefer his acoustic songs. The problem with your reasoning is you think it's a business decision. When really it's just him wanting to make music he enjoys. Which may very well be The Calling.

  • If you think that Mr King didnt choose to go down this path because of money then you're a fool. Good day to you. Bye bye.

  • Well considering him and the bassist in this band have been writing these songs since he was 16. I still somehow doubt it. Also you might note he isn't making all that much money from this music. I think he'd make more from his acoustic stuff as that's where his largest fan base is. XD

  • See previous comment.

    Over & out.

  • I've seen this game before. In that case. Previous comment myself.

    over and out.

I think we've created an infinite loop. >.>

  • dude I'm with you on this one... I play and the songs I right fall in a bunch of dirrent genres... From punk, metal. Piano ballets to stand up bass solo's... all types. Justin has some cool stuff with an acustic... bout that doesn't mean he's doomed to just play that style forever.

he is a victim of his own epic skills... a goo dproblem to have if you ask me. lol

  • I actually prefer this to his tapping stuff...

  • regardless of if he sold out or whatever, the song is banal.

  • why sell-out brother? Fuckin beauty resides in your creativity and you work is apparent as you express...this is a mockery of who you wanna be and not of who you are! fuck politics and fuck your layer of cake! I've witness lesser men protest better music...really, i have ...you're better, smarter, stronger and most def more talented!!!!

march to a stronger deummer and play to a better you! please! do so and fuck the mayer groups...you've got your own!

  • Can I ask you a question? Do you know Justin King personally? have you ever talked to him?

Just because someone changes musical styles does not mean there selling out. Its selling out if you give up your musical integrity for money and unless you know him personally I don't think we can judge this.

  • Correction: Who you want him to be. :P

  • Justin call me dude we should hag out.. lol dude I'd love to just sit in on a recording...lol

  • I meant coromoro send a link so I can hear him.

  • I really dont understand why every guitarist is required to put a massive intense guitar solo into a piece. just listen to the song, its a beautiful wall of sound. well balanced well recorded and a joy to listen to. just appreciate the music for what it is dont pick at it. keep up the great work justin & Co x

  • His solo guitar playing is super accomplised (stanley jordan did something similar). his songs are not as exciting or creative. But then there is a lot of difference between art and skill. He is far more unique and cool when he plays solo using some of the wood to do a bit of drums.

  • anyone got an mp3 of this somewhere?

  • hemp for president ur a fucking cock end. it just shows you know fuck all about music, justin is showing he can do amazing acoustic guitar shit such as slap and all that tapping, and its sick, but he can also sing a melodic rock band. your just a cunt

  • Awesome song, and it's very cool to see what the studio recording process was like.

On a side note, I love how people always call songs "emo" when they don't like them, regardless of what type of music the song is. Hurray internet!

  • what the crap was god thinking when he put so much talent into one guy? i cant believe he can do the things he does with guitars but then to be able to sing his balls off as well? theres just no fucking justice hahaha

  • haha slap guitarist singing shitty emo, and a bassist with a pick. I love it. What a waste of talent. Justin, get out of this hole of a band and stop singing these emo songs. Write some kick ass slap guitar and go tour with Kaki King, dammit.

  • i must say, you are an idiot. he's a really good singer, and this song is most definitely not emo. i admit, i would have prefered to have a more intense guitar solo, because i know he can do it, but the song is still really good.

  • His lyrics are basic and uninspired. His guitar playing is ethereal. You take your pick.

  • That's not entirely true. His band lyrics are pretty straight-forward, but some of the lyrics for his solo tracks are great.

Nonetheless, I've always really liked his band stuff. He puts together a pretty good set of Pop Rock tunes on his band album (and one Post-Rock track which always feels out of place), and hey, if that's what he wants to play, I'm just happy he keeps making music.

And, I guess it makes me a horrible person, but I hate Kaki King. She's rather bores me.

  • What song is this?

  • Bailing the Titanic, if you dont have the CD yet, i highly recommend you get it (just google justin king and the apologies 4 his myspace). he's really good live, too

  • Thanks =D For a while I thought I would never get it

  • I like their music, this the first I heard of him. Do they have a CD out?

  • yo their so good

  • hes just an amazing guitar player, why does he have to write such flat songs like this?WHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYY????

  • ummm....lots of good bassists use picks. It's a shame you don't know that

  • his studio music sounds like christian rock that's actually good haha. nothing against christian rock; i love the meaning and what they're saying, but a lot of the music sounds so redundant.

j king's absolutely amazing though. anyone who has only seen this video of him needs to check out his crazy skill at slap guitar. THAT gives me the chills

  • i don't usually listen to today stuff i usually listen to led zeppelin, the beatles, and other 60-80 bands. but this is some of the greatest music out there right now!!

  • Justin King is awesome any which way! It rocks.

  • No, it's awesome. Something that 99% of music these days is lacking.

  • i dindt know that he did anything other than his FUCKING AMAZING acoustic stuff.

i don't listen to this kind of music, but it sounds good from here.

the drummer in this is pretty good

  • Nadir is the drummer and he's also writing an advanced physics text book, hehe

  • I like his singing better on Le Bleu. Acoustic guitar and his voice complement better in my opinion.

  • i really like his voice, which is weird, because he is so much better at guitar than he is at singing. But 'Beauty Bar' is like, the best. His singing sounds great on this.

  • Secondly, this is not pop. If you are familiar with bands such as Minus the Bear, you would understand that this is Post Rock. Brushing off dead elements from pop music and fusing them with new life, different voicings, and crazy sounds. You take the main elements of rock and you tweak and experiment until you have something amazing like this. Before you knock his "new" sound, understand what he is trying to do.

  • post rock? cause this sounds EXACTLY like godspeed.

  • Godspeed is just one post rock band. I forgot every single band under one genre has to sound EXACTLY the same.

  • obviously, neither godspeed nor yndi halda nor explosions in the sky nor mono nor god is an astronaut sound the same to each other, yet they are still definatly post rock. minus the bear are quite obviously an indie rock band with experimental tendencies. this, is pop rock. straight up.

  • I was always taught that in dealing with a "post" genre (especially Post-modernism) that the genre itself is a continuum. At each of the end of the continuum is a a defining work. The right side has the epitome of the genre and the left has something that resembles it.

Godspeed and Explosions would be on the right side. This would be on the extreme left. But that is just my opinion and I respect yours. and BlackWaltz thanks for the new band. I have never heard of God is an astronaut.

  • hate to say it my man, but you are way off. This is nothing like post rock. It has to do with the lyrics too. This is pop rock formula weather you like it or not. There is nothing wrong with pop rock though unless your into something like fall out boy. DOn't get so defensive! form your own taste, who gives a damn what everyone else thinks. This is not, despite your deep study of it, post rock. lol. and I think by post rock you mean Art rock.

  • you guys know dick about music, this is any other pop rock/punk hokum. Do not try and make it fancy by calling it something innacurate.

  • First and foremost, Justin has not sold out. He has always written songs like this i.e. Something about Angels. Most people are only aware of his solo music via Le Bleu. He had a few albums before then. He has also stated that he will continue to make that style of music i.e. "Crown" and "Untilted Project."

  • this song is very good DONT FUCKING CAKLL IT A POP SONG , it has heart in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! jk rulezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • I hate the term "sellout". So wanting to make a comfortable living from something your good at is a bad thing? This dude plays good music. Surely that is all that matters?

  • He hasn't sold out, he has stated over and over that this is what he's always wanted to do, his solo shit is what made him famous but obviously he's still really good at mainstream music.

  • Sigh* Why do the greats sell-out?

  • Because while he is great at all the tapping stuff that he does, from what I've seen the artists that truly make the money are those that play mainstream music that appeals to a wide audience. And you can't blame anyone for trying to make enough to make a living.

  • right on!

  • In other words, he's a quitter.

  • no in other words hes a better musician than youll ever be and he isnt a quiter as he is still playing guitar and making music

  • You haven't heard my music.

Maybe I wasn't clear enough. He went mainstream just 'cause he wanted more money. It's okay, but it's a little sad that good musicians would give up originality and their original motives just to make more money, when they could keep trying. His older stuff sounded NEW and sweet, whereas this sounds like any other pop/rock song with cliche lyrics and chords. Just my opinion.

Just please don't tell me he's a better musician than me when you haven't heard my music.

  • Send me a link so i can hear you. I say get off him. Everyone has to make a living somehow. Do you know his life circumstance? Maybe he had to "sell out" because of some horrific life circumstance. You judge motive without knowing all of the facts.

  • I doubt that was the case, but I guess you're right. Maybe it was a little immature for me to say that without really knowing his circumstance. At least he's still a musician.

And sure, I'll send you one of my songs soon. They're not fully recorded and polished yet.

  • well at least he had something worth selling... I play... and I'm so sick of people using the sellout hammer on people.

just becouse he played something that wasn't all tapping. He is not selling out.

look I play a lot of tapping too... I'm not quite at his level but I have entire songs that are tapping and singing.

but I also have other stuff that is more "mainstream". if poeple liked my tapping but I got paid for the mainstream then I'd record my mainstream stuff... you get me?

  • Yeah, I get the point, and I guess it's sometimes necessary. thanks

  • hya, if you got a song or two recorded, I love to hear them. What kind of recording tech u use?

  • where I can find justin king and the apologies songss..??

  • iTunes.

  • itunes

  • wow pedal board at :51 is insane pretty sweet song i prefer the acoustic stuff more but not bad

  • justin kinda looks like dane cook in this one haha

  • wat the fuck, now justin king is singin queerass shit, theres a million bands out there that can produce this sound, hes the only guy that can sit there with an acoutic and make ur jaw drop, more of le bleu

  • this s way better than his song "changes" love it :p

  • don´t words exelent

  • CREAM!

  • absolutely freakin beautiful. i love the new version. it adds so much life.

  • Spectacular!

  • ....?...!!.nice....and it's not a clean sound like the usual either works it's good for the solo i love fucking awesome

  • This is the best version of Titanic I have heard yet. Fantastic! I like Justin's outfit too, hehe.

  • That's like a music video by itself! Beautiful - that's what making music is all about!

  • So good:D love it!

  • You should post more video like this one !!! It's really cool !

  • awesome vid..its about time :P! Brilliant song!!! ;D Keep em comin!
